  1. I forgot about them not having permission to release it. Even still, they could've taken advantage of all the good press and thrown some buzz singles out there. So unfair!
  2. The entire One Touch era was/is completely unappreciated by the public (Overload included). I'm just glad that European countries appreciated it that little bit more! It still bugs me that Run For Cover is a UK bonus on Overloaded, and the complete omission of New Year is unbelievable. So much for a 'singles collection'.

Totally! I remember first seeing the CIAM covers and thinking 'WTF... is that really the best picture of queen Mutya they could come up with!?' I'd love to see some outtakes from the Three shoot, but it's all very secretive.

One of my favourite covers. I loved the messiness of the Three era artwork - it was so bold and fitted the edginess of the material perfectly.
  5. Me too! I thought it'd be considerably higher given its Christmas/winter feel. Probably overlooked for Too Lost In You when it comes to playlisting.
  6. What an album. However, looking at the material collectively, I really don't understand why they made such a push for Flatline to be the first single (beautiful as it is). It was the first release from 1.0 in such a long time, so they needed something more in your face - something that would grab the attention of radio and the casual listener. Boys would've done the job well, following a buzz release of Swimming Pools. They attracted such positive feedback from the mashup - it's so frustrating they didn't capitalise on it! A decent iTunes position would've looked good on their stats. Anyway... just another (of many) shoddy management choice for our girls.
  7. One can never have too many copies of Three. :P What they could do is release a compilation of Three and its glorious b-sides all together.
  8. I know, right!? It's amazing! It's the exact 'urban' Mutya they should've went with, and she would've been more comfortable with her image too, I bet. I'd like to know what happened right before they announced Real Girl as the first single. There must have been big changes behind the scenes, because Heat was actually played on her official website, which would suggest it was in the running to be a (lead) single.
  9. I can only imagine the dilemmas they had when selecting the final tracklisting, considering EVERY track has its own special something! For me, they'll never top Three. Everything was just so right.
  10. They completely disregarded her edge. 2 The Limit, Heat and Addiction were more than album worthy.
  11. Perfection! They could have thrown Twisted/We Could Have It All/Sometimes into the b-side pile (as much as I like them), and swapped them for Colder, Disturbed and Someone (although, wasn't this removed last minute because it sounded too much like In The Middle?) The Three era though.
  12. Run is so unappreciated! As of lately, it's my #1. Walk This Way's plays are abysmal for such a big charity single/collab. Still think it's pretty far off Silver, too.
  13. WAHEY! There's always plenty to dissect when it comes to the 'Babes, so let's aim for Top 5 next! :cheer:
  14. 100%! As soon as they had About You Now, Mutya's campaign went to shit. At one point she even had a collab lined up with Timbaland - how did things go so wrong!? It's a decent album; just not as amazing as THE MUTYA BUENA'S album should've been.
  15. Saw this idea another thread and thought it'd be interesting to look at how the singles have fared in the streaming world! Spotify has this really annoying habit of combining only some of the radio/alternative edits with the main tracks... Therefore, I've compiled a portion of the singles manually, but haven't included remixes - this would take wayyyy too long, and in 99% of cases, they don't make a significant difference anyway. THE SPOTIFY SINGLES - OCTOBER 2017 1. About You Now 17,413,340 + 2,132,502 (Radio Edit) + 589,855 (Acoustic Version) + 1,822,477 (Radio One Live Lounge) = 21,958,174 2. Push The Button 20,924,183 + 374,407 (Acoustic Version) = 21,298,590 3. Too Lost In You 11,689,140 + 1,788,094 (Radio Edit) + 937,419 (Love Actually Version) = 14,414,653 4. Overload 6,340,133 5. Get Sexy 6,198,816 6. Round Round 5,611,808 + 19,848 (Alternative Mix) = 5,631,656 7. Hole In The Head 5,242,993 8. Ugly 3,730,441 + 494,742 (Acoustic Version) = 4,225,183 9. Freak Like Me 3,216,746 10. Stronger 3,002,391 About A Girl 2,021,630 Shape 1,950,843 Red Dress 1,295,966 + 5,845 (Extended Mix) = 1,301,811 In The Middle 1,150,742 Denial 1,148,066 Girls 1,147,731 Wear My Kiss 758,378 + 332,260 (Edit) = 1,090,638 Change 923,635 Caught In A Moment 869,482 Walk This Way 683,137
Run For Cover 632,790 Easy 520,947 No Can Do 307,521 + 20,144 (Radio Edit) = 327,665 New Year 278,764 Soul Sound 234,350
Follow Me Home 85,999 + 84,658 (Amelle Mix) + 8,037 (Radio Edit) = 178,694 Angels With Dirty Faces 176,789 My Love Is Pink 174,590 Freedom 93,254 Thoughts? Personally, I'm really pleased to see Stronger, Shape, In The Middle and Denial performing as well as they are!
  16. True that. At the very beginning of the Real Girl campaign I remember her saying she never really intended on going solo, and that she'd be more content working behind the scenes doing production work. It was her management/label that pushed her into doing the album, and when you think of all the politics/wrongdoings within the industry, you can see why she was hesitant. I also feel that her heart was never 100% in the solo game - she needs Keisha by her side at all times to keep her motivated and on track. :P
  17. Nice choice. Some of the Three b-sides were 10/10 - Someone In My Bed and Colder In The Rain are flawless.
  18. Unbelievably shit. :o And then the 'alternative' one she clearly filmed in her house... I tell myself this must have been for Groove Armada's tour visuals or something - surely to God that's not a proper music video.
  19. Been listening to the Change album tonight. Never Gonna Dance Again and My Love Is Pink (beyond 'digital only'...) should've been singles without a doubt!
  20. It was definitely a hit - just not the MASSIVE hit it deserved to be. It received such good reviews, but the promo/videos weren't exactly impressive, and I think the release strategy was generally very poor. It should have led the album.
  21. Yep - there's quite a few promos out there with this on it, so it seems like they were testing the waters. Whilst I don't think it would have smashed by any means, and given the disastrous era overall, I still think that Sweet 7 ended very prematurely. Considering the (relative) successes of About A Girl and Wear My Kiss, I think they could've squeezed another Top 40 single in there, and boosted the album sales ever so slightly. I always thought it was silly to release Overloaded with just the one single, too. I know the album sold well regardless (though it deserved more) and they had Walk This Way, but Good To Be Gone was received pretty well, and it could've boosted Amelle's contribution some more. Mutya was set to release Strung Out at one point as there was a Jeremy Wheatley single mix listed on 365 Artists. I think it was ready to go as second single, but they went with Just A Little Bit instead... Might have been due to the backlash from Amelle's supposed writing credit/it originally being intended for Overloaded.
  22. WOW! Thanks for that! It's kinda sad seeing it together as a proper album. What a waste.
  23. Definitely! Might be something to do with it being a UK only bonus on Overloaded, and being tucked away at the very end of One Touch. I'll be sure to give it some extra streams.
  24. Came across this promo CD which included a second version of About A Girl without the intro: discogs.com/Sugababes-About-A-Girl/release/2529568 Anyone ever heard of this? I love coming across rarities like this (even if it is my least favourite lineup!)
  25. THIS! -_- Would've been a nice way to showcase Amelle's contribution to what is so clearly not her album. Or they should've went with GBY - somewhat faceless, but a bop nonetheless.
