Ireland 2011
Looking forward to this, though it's inevitable that the horrendous Jedward will go through, and present Ireland with a Dustin the Turkey-style finish, despite receiving 12 points from the United Kingdom if we're voting in the Irish semi final. I just hope a song as good as Leona Daly's 2008 entry isn't robbed because of this!

Your rankings of 2011 songs
Ok, so I've got the songs on my iPod now, so can start listening to them properly now. Here's what I think so far, and I've also included some odds on how I think they'll do, even though only three songs have been selected. Switzerland - Instantly forgettable, and definitely heading for a single figured number of points irrespective of what semi final it gets put in. Odds on winning: 500/1. Odds on qualification: 33/1. Romania - Definitely growing on me, and if it gets a decent position in its semi final, I can see this standing out quite well. Romania have a decent diaspora, and rarely - if ever - fail to qualify, so I definitely don't see this missing out. It won't win, but will probably secure a top 15 position. Winning: 33/1. Qualification: 1/3. Albania - I'm guessing this song will undergo a transformation, and the final version will be in English, but I'm liking this in its current form myself. Albania usually come up with a reasonable song, but this will obviously go the same way as their 2009 and 2010 songs have done. With a good re-arrangement and performance, this might push slightly higher though. Winning: 40/1. Qualification: 7/4. So, in short, we haven't got a winner yet. :D

Bruno Mars - Grenade
Ok, I can't quite figure out what song it is is, but I'm sure it's a Eurovision song... It's the "yeah, yeah, yeah" part in the chorus. SR6iYWJxHqs&ob Has anyone got any idea?

Romania 2011
Well this is very mehhh. Definitely worse than the last two Romanian entries!
-
Your rankings of 2011 songs
This is slightly errrm...premature lol! I'd put Albania somewhere between 'great' and 'good' and I can't even remember how the Swiss song goes!
-
Albania 2011
Actually...the chorus reminds me ever so slightly of Albania's 2005 entry, but this is like 50 times better.
-
Albania 2011
And if Albanian entries are anything to go by, a far superior version will be sent to Germany in May! :D

Resignation
The BJSC was so good in 2007/8...even in 2009 it was pretty decent. I think all these rules that were implemented to stop "cheap" entries killed the whole thing myself though, and whatever this new BJUSC thing is, with all these other random "country" names floating about I've no idea, but it certainly seems to have taken away what the contests in 2008 had. Fun. Having a few "cheap" entries always made the contest better anyway, and they never used to win so it's not like it mattered if someone just entered 'Poker Face' or something.

Green Room [2011]
Just watching the Eurovision 2010...gahhh there were some p*** poor songs. Just had Ukraine, France, Romania and Russia. Obviously Romania was good, but the other three were very mehhh.

Ireland 2011
Back when they were on The X Factor last year, it seemed obvious to me that they'd be trying out for Eurovision 2011, and lo and behold here we are... They'll no doubt get selected if they're in the national final, especially after Niamh's floppage last year with a fairly decent song. I just hope we don't have another Leona Daly scenario, because I'm still adament she could've done really well in 2008!
-
Switzerland 2011
Nice enough song, but I'm hoping we don't get a bunch of songs like this like we did last year.
-
BBC Sound of 2011
Me too...we loved her! So went and saw her and got a photo with her afterwards, because we had a feeling this was going to happen!

What to do?
Yes I know what you're saying. We were lucky when I got this forum opened in 2006. Amarantine hadn't been long released, then we had It's in the Rain released and the confusion over where it was going to actually be available (a standard Enya single then). Then there was the Someone Said Goodbye remix along with the Sounds of the Season EP, as well as Adeste, Fideles being released in the UK. Then in 2007 we had all the frustration and rumours of the Christmas album release, which of course happened in a slightly different format in 2008. And then there was the compilation, DVD and new version of Aniron last year. That's a pretty hectic few years in Enya world! Unfortunately now, contact with the three of them has completely dried up once again, and it could well be late 2012 before we hear another word from them via the official website. It'd be nice if we got an album at the end of next year, but I really think 2012, or maybe even 2013 is more likely for the next album. As long as she comes back with an amazing album, I don't mind too much anyway! A killer first single would be nice as well - something like Orinoco Flow or Anywhere Is would be pretty amazing.
-
BBC Sound of 2011
Spark will be there. Just to re-iterate, it is Spark and not Sparks! She's amazing. LOVE her!

"Peacock" [Official Thread]
'Last Friday Night' NEEDS to be released!!! Anthem of my life that song.
-
Kesha - Cannibal // Remix Album
Only five of the eight songs work on my one. Three of them are just snippets on a loop...tracks 5-7, can't remember what they're called! Love 'Cannibal' though! "NOW THAT I'M FAMOUS, YOU'RE UP MY ANUS!"
-
Loud // 5th Album
Try Pirate Bay. Anyway, onto the album. Pleasantly surprised there's an Enya sample in there I must say! :D The only other time an Enya song has been sampled was in Fugees - Ready or Not, Mario Winans - I Don't Wanna Know and Pirates - You Should Really Know afaik. Decent enough album though, seems better than the last one which I wasn't too keen on. I'm on Raining Men atm...seems quite GGGB tbh, which I like. S&M, Fading and Cheers are my faves so far.
-
Sampling of One By One
I downloaded the album and heard this and was just like woahhhh this sounds familiar! I think it sounds good. ^_^

The End of an Era...
Well...it has been confirmed now that the Enya forum, along with 19 others, is to be closed. I hope it'll be archived, as a lot of work has gone into this forum since it opened in 2006. I know I haven't posted in here for ages, but it's still quite sad to see it go after over four years on the site, and let's be honest, there hasn't always been a great deal of stuff for us to talk about regarding the public eye, so we've done pretty well! It all started on September 22nd, 2006, when I managed to get the 50 (I think) required votes to get it added. I think Gloria and Bigwiglaf have been here since the start, and we had Grace for a bit back then too! In the past year or so a whole host of people have joined in with the discussions. Time restraints have meant I've not been quite so prominent... :( x x x

"Wake Up": Jade Ewen or Nadine Coyle?
Jade's version by MILES. :/ Nadine is just wailing through it...totally doesn't suit her voice. Jade's solo album would've been an absolute masterpiece, I'm sure of it! All of the five songs that were released/leaked that would've been on it (six if you include 'It's My Time') are immense, and even her older songs are pretty good. Surprised Nadine has omitted this song from her album though. It's still a good song, even if she doesn't do the best job at singing it.
