BHANGRA DISASTER. Did not expect to flop that hard at all when confirming, but kind of expected to this week given the muted response 'Your Mind' received. Back to the drawing board for now!

Can't remember which semi final this in, or which half, or who its competition is, but this has last place sewn up with the juries and public. Absolutely abysmal.

Oh yes I thought some of those sample comments might refer to 'Your Mind' actually! I'd not heard the original until after this, but didn't Crystal Waters win this the other month?! Thank you! I know what you mean with what your "usual thing" would be as well. One of the main reasons I came back to BJSC was because I was pretty sick and tired of the UK charts and the dirge that they recycle week after week, and this is a good way to discover new music from a wide range of genres. From the past few contests, songs from KREAM, Grouplove, MUNA, Gareth Emery and Tone Damli in particular have stuck with me, and I'll listen to them for a while yet!

Disappointed with the pretty muted response this is getting - it's an absolute tune that I'm seriously beginning to think won't even qualify! 😬

Just voted. Had the songs as my gym playlist for the past couple of days. Bloody hell. Absolutely horrendous. I must be on a different planet to everyone who thinks the first semi final was strong - there were genuinely three songs I actually liked. Mind you, the last time I said that I went crashing out in the semi final, so I'm fully prepared for the worst!

Russia are gonna get the death slot number two in the second semi final. Guarantee it!

Yeah Ultraviolenceland was one of only a handful that grabbed me after one listen. Definitely up there!

HEDIA SELECTED FOR BHANGRA gKdIeb018rw French DJ Hedia has been internally selected for Bhangra, with what is widely tipped to become one of the songs of the summer. 'Your Mind' features the vocals of American Voice finalist Kristen Marie and has so far racked up over four million streams on Spotify since its release in December 2016. The Bhangran state broadcaster are said to be "cautiously optimistic" about Hedia's chances at BJSC, and will aim to improve on Fenech-Soler's 25th place at the last contest.

Listened to about two thirds of the first semi final this morning (the ones that were on Spotify anyway). Mixed bag for me, but some good tracks. Everyone seems to think the first semi is incredibly strong from the reveal thread, so still cautious over a Bhangra qualification!

Thanks for the rundown Dan! Bhangra on last in the first semi - hope that bodes well but I guess it matters less when you have a good few days to listen to the songs.

It's a great spectacle, but I really don't think the song is up to much. Will obviously qualify, but won't be surprised if it's hovering between 11th and 15th at the end of the night on May 13th.

It's my favourite entry this year. Absolutely LOVE this. Who'd have thought it?! Think my favourite Macedonian entry before this was 2006 or 2007, but this is MILES better. I'm sure you'll be in the final this year Boyan!

Not necessarily a re-discovery, but I've listened to 'Travva' by Jutro quite a bit since the last contest. Always makes me feel as though I'm about to be offered poppers in some dodgy bar down Canal Street.

Wow. Some proper throwbacks there. LOVED 'Take Me Away' - perfect follow up to 'Put Em High'. Would've absolutely loved more from Stonebridge and Therese (although I did love 'Freak On' which followed!). The Rachel McFarlane song was decent as was Lovefreekz, and I was a huge fan of 'Attention'. Can't honestly remember the Mylo track though!

How do they even differentiate between album and single "sales" when streamed? A single stream should only count as a sale if someone purposely goes to listen to that song, surely, and not just if they're listening to the album on repeat?

Really looking forward to hearing the new version tomorrow - high hopes for it as long as her voice doesn't get drowned out!

I mean 'This Is Love' is terrible, but I absolutely love it. Proper trashy performance on the cards!
