  1. As you all know the Canadian Hot 100 FINALLY started on June, 2007. There's been a lot of UK number ones (by non-Canadian or American artists) that have never seen the light of day in Canada, but there has been a lot that have done well up here, especially lately. There has been a lot of non-Canadian UK hits that have done very well in Canada as opposed to the US. (Especially with euro-dance songs in the 90's. 2 Unlimited, Whigfield, Livin' Joy or Berri anyone? I don't know the exact positions on the old Canadian Singles chart but I know I heard them all the time and everyone knew them.), but now it's more-so becoming the case. The last four UK number 1 hits (all by non-Canadian/American artists) have all charted in Canada and some are doing quite well: Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" has already hit #1 a couple of weeks ago, and this week rebounded to #2. Basshunters' "Now You're Gone" has peaked at #88 and charted for four weeks. It's a big club hit up here as well. I listen to dance radio stations and they play it all the time. Duffy's "Mercy" is on it's second chart week and it jumped 94-71. Estelle's "American Boy" Featuring Kanye West is on it's third chart week and it jumped 69-55. And if you go back to 2007, Mika's "Grace Kelly" peaked at #3. It reached that position on a test chart that Billboard had done prior to the official launch of the actual Canadian Hot 100. On the first official chart it was at #12. I guess my whole point to this thread is the fact that Canada has taken notice of a lot of European acts throughout the years and I don't know if a lot of people are aware of this. So much attention is focused on The US not giving enough British music a chance (especially in the 90's and 2000's), but we certainly have up here in Canada and I just wanted to acknowledge that. Not just because I am Canadian but because I love this kind of music and I have all my life. I'm glad to see that a lot of this great music is being exposed over here. :) Note: I REALLY wish the Canadian Hot 100 started decades earlier than it did -_-
  2. "We Belong Together" only made "Shake it Off" for 1 week. "Gold Digger" held it off for the remaining 5 weeks.

Wow, Natasha's really doing well in the US. I hope Leona can go to #1 again.
  4. Awwwwww damn at 112, Dru Hill, Deborah Cox, Pearl Jam and Mya for not having #1 hits, but having a #1 seller :( (112, Mya and Dru Hill had #1 collaborations ,but still...) The Singles Sales chart wasn't a good representation of what was popular after late-2001 though since most hit songs weren't physically released, and CD single sales were sooooo low. And it was even worse in 2005 when digital sales got so high. Cd's can't compete with Digital sales, so even if the Hot 100 were based just on sales, a lot of these physical #1's wouldn't have probably charted that high (After 2004 that is).
  5. ^ Nelly rocks!!! Viva Portugal!! ^_^ I'm glad that the singles market is strong once again. Now... why is Airplay still factored into the Hot 100? I didn't realize "No One" was such a big seller :o
  6. That's awesome. I love George ^_^
  7. Wow, that's awesome for Madonna and Leona. And I'm glad to see Janet still in the top-50.
  8. Wow, a number 1 single and album. Congrats to her.

I'm not sure that Mariah is a sure shot for #1 on i-tunes and on the digital songs chart. Mariah hasn't done extremely well with downloads. Even "We Belong Together" hasn't even sold a million downloads, and it didn't go to #1 on Hot Digital songs/tracks, despite being a massive radio hit. And "Don't Forget About Us" was #1 on i-tunes and on Hot digital Songs, but quickly started falling down after it's first few weeks out. She'll probably hit #1 on the Hot 100, even if she's #2 or 3 with sales because of her massive airplay. Her record label is probably planning on moving the song to #1 on Hot 100 Airplay next week  As much as I love Mariah, I don't think "Touch My Body" is that fantastic and deserving of #1, and "Bleeding Love" is much, much better. I really hope Leona stays put, and I hope she hits #1 on the hot 100, because that song is amazing.
  10. Britney's doing well? Are we looking at the same numbers? And  at Rihanna's sales. Everyone acts as if she'sa force to be reckoned with, but her albums sales say otherwise.

I don't understand how the United World Chart works. But I'm glad to see Jennifer Lopez on there. I didn't realize "If You Had My Love" was so big world-wide.

Really? How's much airplay and sales has it gotten this week? Oh, and I really think Leona will hit #1 on the Hot 100. I'm glad, because it's such a good song.

  14. That sucks for Janet, but I hope this album will be a bigger success than her last two, in the long run.
  15. Has Jeff's version of "Hallelujah" ever actually been on the Hot 100? Congrats to Leona. That song will be in the top-10 in no time. And I'm glad Naim rebounded to #22 because I really enjoy that song.

Usher is #10 in Airplay, and he sold 198,000 downloads. Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" was only #28 on Airplay and sold about 156,000 downloads the week that it hit #1 on the Hot 100, so I don't think Usher's was fixed.

I was so happy with Janet, I didn't even notice Usher's big jump to #1. Congrats to him. Not just cuz he jumped to #1 with a fairly new song (and his 8th #1), but because he knocked "Low" out of #1.

53 19 JACKSON*JANET FEEDBACK (REMIXES) YEEEE-AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! I can't believe this. It's about damn time this song became a hit. GO JANET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: It's probably going to drop next week because last week was the album release which always causes songs to jump, but still. I'm glad it at least had SOME glory!!! :):):)
  19. Wow. I wonder if Usher will jump to #1 on the Hot 100. And I hope Janet can FINALLY crack the top-40 on the Hot 100 since she jumped to #7 on this chart. ^_^ It's long overdue. And yay for Snoop and Leona. :)
  20. Thanks so much ^_^

That's awesome!! Thanks ^_^ Here's this weeks (delayed) Chart February 28, 2008 Issue #3 01 02 03 03 - FEEDBACK - Janet 02 06 08 03 - TOUCH MY BODY - Mariah Carey 03 01 05 03 - WITH YOU - Chris Brown 04 04 04 03 - SENSUAL SEDUCTION - Snoop Dogg 05 00 00 01 - NEW: LIKE YOU'LL NEVER SEE ME AGAIN - Alicia Keys 06 05 00 02 - APOLOGIZE - Onerepublic 07 03 06 03 - TATOO - Jordin Sparks 08 00 00 01 - NEW: NO AIR - Jordin Sparks with Chris Brown 09 00 00 01 - NEW: TEARDROPS ON MY GUITAR - Taylor Swift 10 07 01 03 - DON'T STOP THE MUSIC - Rihanna Commentary: It's no surprise that my two favorite divas hold the top 2 spots on my chart. Janet's album Discipline came out this week, and I've been listening to it like crazy (in fact, if I didn't have a rule that the chart can only contained singles, it would be 10 Janet songs this week ). But "Feedback" is eligible, and it takes this weeks top spot, knocking Chris Brown's "With You" to #3. Mariah Carey leaps to into the runner-up spot this week, thanks to the video premiere of "Touch My Body". The video is horrendous, but I've seen it a lot this week. Mariah's two-time collaborator, Snoop Dogg, stays at #4 for a third consecutive week with "Sensual Seduction". Alicia Keys may have left the chart last week with "No One", but she's back this week with her second single from As I Am, "Like you'll Never See me Again", a song that I've been listening to for a while now, but never payed that much attention to until this week. (The video is great). One Republic's "Apologize" falls one spot to #6 after being the lone new entry last week. Like Chris Brown's "With You", Jordin Sparks tumbles on the chart with her single "Tattoo" (3-7), but both artists need not worry, as their new duet "No Air", the second single from Jordin's self-titled debut, enters the top-10 at #8. Teenage country star, Taylor Swift, also enters the chart this week with "Teardrops on My guitar", thanks to it's catchy pop radio remix. And rounding out the top-10 is Rihanna's former chart-topper, "Don't Stop the Music".
  22. Yeah, I figured she'd be very low on the Hot 100 since her Airplay is tanking. I'm just happy people are buying the song :)
  23. That's what I like to hear!!! :D :D
  24. Yesssssss!!!!! Janet totally deserves #1 ^_^
