I don't see the problem in Australia they have it in the water and there is no ill effect, its the same as putting folic acid in bread, which they have done. It does more good than harm
  2. Unfortunately I have, not to say that there aren't many good British hospo workers, but I've found that in the UK shop staff are terrible, hospo staff seem generally good, but shop staff are rude, lazy and really need to learn how to address customers simple words like please, thank you, hello and goodbye, would do for a start. I'm fed up of them looking at you like a piece of sh*t and not even acknowlodging you when you say hello to them when you approach their counter, and I find its the bigger supermarkets that are the worst.
  3. I don't agree with that I have spent the last three years travelling Australia and New Zealand and most of the British backpackers there are an embaresment all they do it drink and act like chavs, yes some like myself want to broaden their minds but the majority hang about in British cliques and never get to know any Aussies or Kiwis, and act like yobs in the street.
  4. But half of npowers rise is due to tax increases as is the cost of petrol in this country being so expensive, I am all for monitoring prices but these two examples are at least partly the fault of the government, but I do think proces in restraunts and pubs for example are expensive when compared to prices say in Australia, where their minimum wage is similar to ours but prices are about half ours
  5. The minimum wage is guarented by law so I don´t know how you were only earning 3.48 an hour, that is illegal even if you are on a temporary contract, but yet it is a classic example of how business rips employees off. Nobody should have to work for the pathetic wages some industries expect us to, after all we in the UK pay higher prices than consumers in many countries, but earn less wages, somehow the maths there doesn´t add, unless business is creaming off excess profits then complaining UK citizens don´t work hard enough for the pathetic amounts they are paid
  6. it was at 19 on the first wm chart
  7. What a lot of rubbish, Most humans are capable of horrendous acts given the right circumstances, individuals do not carry evil genes. Should we have stopped Germans having kids after the second world war, or Rwandans after the genocide there? He was a ten year old boy, either we should allow him a second chance or we should lock him up for ever, you can not be held responsible for something you did at 10 for the rest of your life no matter how bad it was, afterall he was too young to make an informed decision about having sex, drinking, smoking....and many other things yet he was old enough to be held fully accountable for murder that doesn't seem right to me.
  8. I don't think it is a part of prison life, or it shouldn't be after all if the authorities can't stop crime inside prison, what hope do they have outside of it
  9. I think those sales in 4 weeks are great, much better than body language sales, which after all was her last studio album, and by the end of next week it should be platinum, which is not bad for less than a month and a half on the chart
  10. IF Scotland was independent we have would have more direct contact between the two leaders, and Scotland would also probably have more influence in Downing street

But at the momeent it is not the be all and end all. When small amounts of DNA are magnified at the moment the error rate is so significant that it is not reliable, which has led the police to halt all current investigations using this dna evidenca and it has also lead to the cps throwing open all its cases to review where this evidence was used to convict someone. There could be innocent people sitting in jail cells this christmas who have been wrongly convicted using this technique, and that is a hundred times worse than a guilty person walking free

I am interested to hear from those people on this forum who believe DNA is the be all and end all, especially in the wake of the Omagh bombing where it has been suggested that some types of DNA evidence are unreliable. Those of you who think DNA should be taken from all suspects at will, or from all members of the population, what is your opinion now when some types of DNA evidence could be fatally flawed and lead to convictions of innocent people. Do you still support these draconain DNA gathering measures?
  13. It has sold 194 000 copies in three weeks in the UK not bad for a kylie album really, I think it must be one of her fastest selling studio albums ever, Light Years, Body Language, Impossible Princess, Kylie Minogue 94, Lets Get To It and Rhythm of Love didn't sell so many copies so quickly.....By Christmas it will propably sell 250k + and that is after one single release, I reckon it will end up double platinum
  14. wow is in the midweek top 30 on downloads alone after the x factor peformance and x has so far climbed to 16

You could use this same argument to argue that more well-off people should have private medical insurance, I think either we have free universal healthcare for all, so gettimg rid of prescription charges should be phased in, I mean how many people just above the cut off point for free prescriptions can't afford them so do with out, and that can end up costing the government a lot more than the 6.85
  16. How emotive is this? War Widows??? Why are they quoted, when did they become an authority on this subject or is this just designed to automatically but as against the muslim council?
  17. Its funny how so many people believe that things that are suppose to protect our fundamental rights are wrong. We either live in a country that limits the power of the authoritioes in a compassionate why, this may lead to decisions that the majority of people disagree with, or we live in a society where the authorities can do whatever they choose and we just have to accept it. I know which country I'd rather live in
  18. Of course Scotland could survive without England, this kind of arrogance annoys me, do you think Scots are more stupid than any other small nation? Of course we would have our own military, and like the Irish we may join the euro, or we may decide to stay in monetary union with England, but that would be a matter for the Scottish people in a referendum.
  19. And as always putting up the price of something only affects the poor, if you really wanted to limit alcohol consumption you would need a system where people paid a percentage of what they earned to buy alcohol, after all the rich can be abusive alcoholics too. That may sound stupid but at least it would be fair, and affect every individual in our society equally
  20. This is nonsense and not true, one consultancy group recommended Ho Ho Ho be changed to Ha Ha Ha, as the word Ho may be offensive to some, and because it may scare young children, but Australians have not banned it, if anything they have laughed at the suggestion
  21. I totally agree, afterall wouldn't all employers try to get involved in this scheme so they could pay their employess less and get rid of those employees earning the minimum wage. this is a bad idea

Don't you think there are three types of rape, and their serious is not equal, there is the rape where a person is attacked and forced under the threat of violence to have sex. this in my opinion is the worst kind of rape and deserves strong punishment. Then there is the type where a person is date raped..... this can be broken down into two types too, one when they do not consent to sex at any stage and are forced, and the second where they consents to sex and then change their mind. The first of these is also serious, but the second of these is less serious and the person does have to take responsibility for their actions that lead to the rape, yes people have the right to say no at any stage, but they also have to be responsible about the situations they put themselves in. That is why rape convictions are hard to get, because most rapes fall into the last catergory, and most people do believe in the 'victim' being partially responsible for their rape, and unwilling to send someone to jail for a long period because of this. But at no point should there ever be a discussion on what the 'victim' was wearing as this never justifies a rape, and what right minded person can truthfully argue that someone deserves something because of what they were wearing?
  23. when is it on in australia? or is it not
  24. As long as someone is over the age of 18 then why should the government be allowed to price fix alcohol??? Individuals are responsible for their own health and a nanny state should not be allowed to dictate to someone what they can and can't do, this lager is obviously making a profit at this price and being taxed too, so it is a commercial decision at what price supermarkets sell it and if it was found they were fixing prices they would be fined and possibly face criminal charges
  25. This is totally disgusting, it seems the police only want to investigate crimes that are easy to solve, after all they just care about clear up rates and don't actually care about finding those responsible.
