Not Giving Up // 5th Single // Discussion Thread
I think the cover of Word Up is quite poor to be honest, its also a very lazy single choice. I'd guess there is hope that it will duplicate the success of One Way Or Another last year, but i'd guess its more likley to be a #3 hit than a big selling #1. As for NGU, I know it won't be a #1, but i'm hoping for a either a #6 (if they unlock it) or if they go for a pre-album-style-release a #5.

What About Us
I do get annoyed when people compare LM to the Spice Girls though, you cannot compare. Hell you can't even put 1D in the same league as the Spice Girls, people forget that as social media opens up international markets far quicker than the graft acts like SG had to put in!

Suprised Disco Love isn't top five

I do think White Lies is far superior to Get Ready Get Set but hey ho
-
What About Us
Hopefully not, guess a lot will depend on how NGU does, but unlike many bands, the girls genuinly love being together so hopefully they will turf out a few more singles yet :)

LALO, LML and DWYWWM being below stuff like Lies, Denial and Karma is just like actual WTF, crying right now. Still, glad Faster and Chasing Lights made the top ten. If they do a Greatest Hits tour, I expect an emotional performance of Chasing Lights, hell, I'd even like it to be released as their final single! I think it would be a perfect last ever single for the fans. Hope White Lies, Not Giving Up and Last Call made the top three!

Sats iTunes Watch Part 4.
If it did go higher than #123 i'd be happy as it would be the highest since 1st December!

What About Us
Yeah you are right. In all honesty, I think LM have probably reached their peak. Unless they uncover some monster track. Sats and the Wanted have certainly peaked now, its just interesting to see how long they can sustain the decline. The Sats could probably manage another campaign like this one, or they may decide to just do NGU release full throttle, then announce a Greatest Hits/Tour and split in the winter like JLS did. Same for The Wanted.

Sats iTunes Watch Part 4.
It's run has been quite good (compared to Gentleman, 30 Days and My Heart Takes Over!), its just a shame it didn't spend a few extra weeks top 40 to tot up some bigger sales weeks Disco Love 05 - 14 - 30 - 31 - 40 - 50 - 83 - 123 - 166 - 176 - OUT - 194 - 168 - 168 - ?
-
What About Us
Yeah it actually didn't go to plan :/ haha, in my head The Sats would have come off better, plus I got bored half way into it and copied stuff without reading what I copied lolly I think LM have a far better team/far more financial investment and much more tv/radio/gp support due to TXF

Comparable first stages of career: UK Sales 475,000 Cannonball v 115,000 If This Is Love 471,500 Wings v 350,000 Up 305,000 Move v 263,000 Issues 250,000 DNA v 285,000 Just Can't Get Enough 137,000 Change Your Life v 101,000 Work 120,000 How Ya Doin'? v 184,000 Forever Is Over 71,000 Little Me v 340,000 Ego First 7 singles: Little Mix: 1,829,500 Saturdays: 1,638,000 ALBUMS 335,500 DNA v 386,000 Chasing Lights 200,500 Salute v 86,000 Wordshaker UK Sales 475,000 Cannonball v 180,000 Notorious 471,500 Wings v 215,000 All Fired Up 305,000 Move v 55,000 My Heart Takes Over 250,000 DNA v 80,000 30 Days 137,000 Change Your Life v 400,000 What About Us 120,000 How Ya Doin'? v 55,000 Gentleman 71,000 Little Me v 124,000 Disco Love Last 7 singles: Little Mix: 1,829,500 Saturdays: 1,190,000 ALBUMS 335,500 DNA v 60,000 Chasing Lights 200,500 Salute v 25,000 Living For The Weekend Looking at the numbers, on both counts the mix girls have sold more in the UK than The Saturdays, but I would argue that the LM have had a lot more spent on them than The Sats, production, marketing and promo, videos etc. Also, I think its easy for people to forget that The Saturdays started from scratch, in the old fashioned way, unlike LM or GA (who I am a fan/was a fan!) as they came from reality TV shows so already had a core fanbase before releasing their single and album. As much as it pains me to say it, Little Mix are bigger in the UK than the Saturdays :(

I don't really like it that much, its not bad, but certianly shouldn't be released as a single over Faster, GRGS, DWYWWM or White Lies!
