  1. OK long post alert. I agree with Hurricane regarding the moaning and stages we have gone through, but there are some reasons behind this forumula. I think the song will do very well on radio - releasing in early March is a wise move as its the time of year people appreciate a hint of summer in a song - WAU proved that. Despite the previous results, DL and LFTW were both released in Q4 - DL didn't set radio on fire, but has been played a lot since its chart success, a sign they proved to the bossess who playlist that there is life after Gentleman. I think the fact that NGU is such a summery and strong single will ensure radio support improves on the previous two campaigns. The whole LFTW did suffer due to the consistant absences of Rochelle and more-so Frankie. This isn't me sayins she shouldnt have had the time off, but in reality her pregnancy couldn't have come at a worse time. Rochelles too. Just as the US was taking off, Rochelle needed to be in the UK. She managed the bulk of WAU promo before she had to take her leave - in fairness she was off for a very short period of time. Soon after, Frankie's pregnancy was annoucnced, obviously having a third member of the band pregnant did effect the general public (not fans!) opinion of the band. Lots of jokes on twitter about them being "past it" and the fact they keep getting pregnant - nothing that didn't die down after some time. Gentleman wasn't a strong follow up, we have pretty much established that, but it was also the easiest time to be risky as they had just had great success, and it was either going to pay off or it wasn't.. unfortunately it was the latter. Rochelle came back for promotion when the single was already out - by this point, they knew the pre-order status, they knew the reviews, the knew the airplay situation and they could only book several low-key promo slots, which in reality was never going to be enough to push the single, not to mention WAU was still getting airplay and was fresh in the publics mind. As soon as the single charted, the girls gave up on it, this is quite clear from twitter to performances to promo etc. The girls were then in a catch 22 situation, Frankie was going to need time off to obviously prepare for her baby, bond with the baby after the birth etc. but the girls were balls deep in an album campaign that had been stretched out to almost two years. The label/management clearly wanted a Q4 release, and Gentleman had ensured the album needed another lead single. 'Disco Love' was perfect as Frankie could appear in a video (perhaps for consistency) but didn't appear vocally, so the performances would be OK. They promoted before the release (something that didn't happen with G.) during release week, and a few weeks later. They released in tough competition week with poor airplay and managed to turn it into a respectable hit. It did fall, but that was due to the business at that time of year, lots of new releases, lots of acts promoting through various tv shows etc. The album had to be released, and in reality performed similarly to other acts like Union J and The Wanted. They continued to promote over Christmas to obviously try and salvage sales and keep the momentum going for the campaign. Now the situation is Frankie isn't 100% ready for a full time return, but they need to release a single. They could make NGU a hit - but they need to be the five piece again from the go. 'G' didn't really have the full line up till it was already limping up the itunes chart, and 'DL' was marketed from the off as a four piece single, this is the comeback single, only about 25,000 people in the UK even have a copy of it. For it to work: * Ensure they pick a dead release week * Announce the single and tour at the same time, plug both in all promo * Ensure Frankie can be in the video, even if she can't attend radio tour and interviews * Radio Tour * Promote on either This Morning or Daybreak the Thursday before the release date * Big performance the night before release (Saturday Voice results!!) * Do the other of the itv daytime shows on the Tuesday on release week * Big performance the weekend of release week (Saturday Night Takeway? Alan Carr?) Ive typed so much I can't remember what my point was now. Its like Una has just started typing shit. Oh well, I love you all and will come back when I remember what I actually was meant to say in one sentence! :/

Nominations: Little Mix didn't get anything. I would have imagined they would have had a nod for Breakthrough or Group. Shame The Sats were snubbed, but they got this far without a BRIT. In the late 90s early 00s they had a Pop Group category, which would be perfect!
  5. oh well. worse things have happened, we got a 500,000+ selling UK #1. Im happy anyway

If they do it will be a shame, but im gonna accept it and move on, they already exceeded my expectations with What About Us. Yes, it would be the cherry on a very big cake, but there is already a tonne of icing on the cake anyway :)
  7. I think itll do it when the next single is released. :)
  8. Yes, I think a big worlwind of smoke and lights and then you see the queen... 'You took my heart, from the dark....." Also, I guess it will depend on when this tour is happening. Im actually getting bored of the mystery now :( Yes - very similar to the OOC tour where The Promise was used to open and close, and the ROTSG tour where Spice Up Your Life was reprised to close.
  9. Gentleman was #837840 in the Year End charts, FYI. Lolly. Im pleased for Disco Love - thats pretty good considering the previous single. I HEART DISCO LOVE. FOREVER XO
  10. I think AFU would be a good opener, none of the album tracks on LFTW strike me as an opening track. AFU to open Disco Love to end main show Higher/What About Us as encore
