kalen, my room is still in bits UGH the walls are waiting to be plastered this friday, which means im sleeping downstairs one night, how rubbish is that? :o

  2. the hair seems to be long again, everyone's entitled to an opinion though.... i thought the VMA performance was done brilliantly, still sounded better than ANYONE that night and she wasnt TOTALLY up to scratch. :cheer:

i love these performances anyway, 'candyman' was soooo much FUN, as kelly said christina REALLY seemed to enjoy doing it, more so than 'Hurt'. maybe thats just cause of the types of songs they are though...

although the elton performance wasnt the best it was still damn good, shut the tw@ts up who think she is losing her voice... YAWN

Christina Aguilera's New Album 'Back To Basics' is an Instant Hit Worldwide, Hitting #1 in Country After Country; Songstress Set for Month of Major Dates Across Europe Marking Her First European Tour Since 2003

    NEW YORK, September 11 /PRNewswire/ --

The numbers don't lie. With more than 2.5 million copies of her new CD "Back To Basics" shipped worldwide, RCA/BMG Grammy-winning superstar Christina Aguilera has reconfirmed her global popularity. Less than a week after its Aug. 14 release, the album hit #1 in scores of countries, including the U.K. (her first #1 ever in Britain), Canada, Japan, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan. The CD also debuted in the Top 5 in New Zealand, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Mexico.

Adding fuel to the fire, Christina is gearing up for a month-long arena tour of Europe, kicking off Nov. 17 in Sheffield, England and wrapping up Dec. 17 in Prague. In between, she hits major markets including Paris, Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich, Manchester and two nights at London's Wembley Arena (see below for itinerary).

In the U.S., the 2 CD set hit #1 on five Billboard charts with first-week sales of 345,518, marking her best Soundscan debut to date and the highest first-week sales of the year for a female solo artist. "Back To Basics" topped the Billboard 200, the R&B Overall Album Chart, the Digital Album Chart, Mass Merchant Chart and Internet Album Chart. This is Christina's first #1 album since her 1999 self-titled debut.

The CD's debut single, "Ain't No Other Man" is currently #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the Bryan Barber-directed video continuously peaked at #1 on MTV's TRL. The double-disc set, produced primarily by DJ Premier and Linda Perry, utilizes an orchestra, choir, string quartet and jazz horns, as well as techniques that offer a vintage sound and sensibility. Christina delivered a show-stopping debut performance of her forthcoming single "Hurt" at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 31st.

One of the most accomplished performers of the last decade, Christina Aguilera has sold over 25 million albums worldwide, achieved four #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and has won three Grammy Awards and a Latin Grammy Award, as well as two top five albums in the United States.

A major contributor to the fight against AIDS, Aguilera has participated in the "What's Going On?" cover project for AIDS Project Los Angeles' Artists Against AIDS. In 2004 she became the new face for the cosmetic company MAC and spokesperson for MAC AIDS Fund. In 2005 Aguilera got involved in awareness campaigns with YouthAIDS and ALDO. She also sponsors and is actively involved in the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh for battered women and children.

  4. i think 'Hurt' is more commercial to be honest, i do love 'Candyman' though and is definately a stand-out track on the album for me!!

in a VERY recent interview things have got a little confused AGAIN as christina has apparently said 'Candyman' is the second single? maybe she is doing the 2 singles? :o

  5. hey guys, im gonna give my opinion now since i've been away for a while....:o

i though the performance was TOP NOTCH!! it just goes to show you dont need to be all over the stage to have a great performance!! the vocals were AMAZING although in some places you could tell she wasnt well... BUT saying that i think i prefer these vocals, she got SO emotional with the song, really felt it!!

her performance did stand out on vocals alone and for that she got a standing ovation!! not many artists would be able to pull off a performance with vocals alone and still be entertaining... the only other i can think of is mariah carey!! :D
