robbie williams releasing a swing comeback album in february? is this 100% confirmed?? i thought he only released in october/november these days to maximize his $ale$

lucky didn't hit a million, but especially for you came extremely close

hoping for a number 1 from Kylie with Wow! if madonna's new single is at least decent it should hit number one no problem in the early months of the year

HUGE drop for kylie! hope x-factor's performances help it back up

interesting! thanks

just wondering do artists usually release different things for ireland and the uk? or do they usually get the same releases/release dates as the UK?

and of course nelly furtado "loose" still gets a lot of plays from me too (just didn't include it as it's from last year)

HARSH for kylie! and sugababes all around! sad times...

good for gwen! honestly, download albums do not sell very much at all. amy is a real anomaly selling nearly 100K with back to black (but compare that to her album's overall sales and it's clear that it's not very significant). at best, downloaded albums make up 10-20% of overall sales. i think the problem is that consumers (myself definitely included) don't feel like paying $10/8 pounds for a downloadable album when the physical equivalent (minus maybe some bonus tracks) is only a few dollars more. it feels like a half-ass commitment without much of a discount really

nice to see mariah in the upper reaches. imagine if rules like these had been in effect for the past decade and a half (or if physical singles had stayed in print longer)

not only does she (well, her label really) choose poor release weeks and times of year, but they never promote the damn things right at all!!! so frustrating

WOW for justin's dvd! any info on other recent music dvd sales? like beyonce & nelly furtado maybe?

arctics are a disappointment for sure. but the good news lies in rihanna finally releasing don't stop the music! this should be HUGE

jojo and a bunch of others have suffered this year as a result of frontloaded physical sales distorting their midweek positions

this week is so full of flops i can't even keep track! which of the singles were out on physical this week that totally bombed? other than dannii  good for kylie though! she should stick around the top 5 with x-factor's performance. and is rihanna releasing "don't stop the music" soon in the uk or is that just a random download spike?

i don't think that weighting the physical sales higher than download sales would be really fair. the charts should be based purely sales numbers, not on the amount of money spent each week on a certain single. though i do understand what you're getting at about the extra effort and cost for getting a physical release, i think the better solution to that would be to offer more multi-format bundles (like 3 for 5 pounds or something like that - it's been done to great success with a number of artists in the past at high street shops)

nice sales for kylie! she's holding up nicely. hopefully she can keep up the promo so that sales will rise over the christmas period

it will be really interesting to see how the radiohead album does on physical sales. can't wait to see its impact on the industry

groove armada earned that spot well!! it's a great album

ooh, of course Shirley Manson and Robbie Williams too!!

yeah, hopefully natalie will release in 2008 as planned, but knowing how long she's taken between releases, i'm guessing it won't be out as early as we're hoping for

a rough list - only including those released in 2007: 1.Roisin Murphy-Overpowered 2.Kylie Minogue-X (this may overtake soon!) 3.Garbage-Absolute Garbage 4.Amy Winehouse-Back To Black 5.Mark Ronson-Version 6.Hed Kandi-Disco Kandi: The Mix 7.Groove Armada-Soundboy Rock 8.Sophie Ellis-Bextor-Trip The Light Fantastic 9.Hotel Costes X 10.Madonna-The Confessions Tour

here are a few of mine (i'll definitely set up last.fm when i get the time, but for now just according to itunes): Roisin Murphy-Let Me Know Roisin Murphy-You Know Me Better Roisin Murphy-Overpowered Roisin Murphy-Movie Star Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse-Valerie Kylie Minogue-In My Arms Kylie Minogue-Wow Nelly Furtado-Say It Right Gwen Stefani feat. Akon-The Sweet Escape Beyonce-Green Light (Freemasons radio edit) Eric Prydz Vs. Floyd-Proper Education (radio edit)

kylie off the playlists :( are the killers releasing a second single from their b-sides album? that seems a bit much! and robyn's next one already b-listed?? when is it even released? plus, anyone know why they're suddenly adding a handful of not-so-new albums onto the radio 2 playlist?
