GOLDFRAPP!!!! though getting a number 1 album would be a push considering this is supposed to be a return to felt mountain's sound. i'd love for them to try though! there shouldn't be too much competition and of course, madonna! let's hope the timbaland/neptunes collaborations don't fall flat

it would be great for GA to climb, but i don't really see it happening. if their physical sales weren't up to their usual standard in the first week (which for them is usually pretty good!) then i doubt they'll somehow pick up, but here's hoping!

i love how radio 1 only adds girls aloud to the a-list when they're 100% sure that it's going to be a hit (something kinda ooooh, call the shots, very few others)

i don't think it's impossible for girls aloud to overtake leona, but they'll need to keep up their momentum. the download is currently above leona (uncombined - including her album track it might be different) and the physicals (multiple formats vs. leona's one) did just come out, so we'll have to see. finally something interesting at the top, though!

this song bugs me because it could have been so good, but there just isn't enough there! the extended mix hints at what it should have sounded like with the harder dance backing. without it it's just too slow! i'd say luck to make top 20.

it came back in and re-peaked though...something i doubt her new album will do!!!

good for Girls Aloud getting up to the B list! not my favorite single of theirs, but solid regardless. and amy winehouse, too! a fifth single wasn't overkill when you have songs as strong as hers

the feeling! they'll sell like hotcakes for sure

fabulous re: Cat Power! i love "The Greatest" and her last few efforts. any idea on the certainty of such a quick release, though? it seems a bit unlikely to come that fast, as i'm sure the covers album promotion will be full-force (in indie terms, anyway). where did you hear about its imminent release?

sucks that groove armada aren't releasing another "soundboy rock" single at all. such a shame considering how many great great tracks are on there. plus it could have at least helped promote their new compilations, which look set to bomb miserably. who the hell have they hired for marketing, because they're not doing a very good job at all!! they should have just gone ahead with a third single in november, followed by the GA10 rarities album, and not released the updated greatest hits at all (no need! the same thing came out before their latest album, and 5 tracks are taken from it!) and what is "Sun" by Cat Power?? is she planning on releasing another new album so soon after the second covers project?

wow, stereophonics are doing terribly! looks like britney's getting a really high debut though! didn't expect that at all (well, until midweeks of course)

well, a bunch of my purchases are old albums, but here they all are (i don't buy singles anymore since nobody really stocks them): Pet Shop Boys - Nightlife (+US bonus disc) The Darjeeling Limited soundtrack Cat Power - The Covers Record Primal Scream - XTRMNTR (+US bonus track) Groove Armada - The Best Of Best Of Acoustic (import compilation) and my favorite album of this year so far... Roisin Murphy - Overpowered (import)

texas are lovely!!! don't know too much of them but love what i do know (getaway stands out as a favorite for sure). i'll have to remember to post something about them on my blog soon :cheer:

that's one of worst ever sales for a number 1 album. the US record industry is (quickly) dying out

glad to see 2 Hearts reaching the A List. hopefully they won't give spice girls much help, their number 1 needs to be weak so kylie can topple them with her physicals!!

i'm going to have to disagree with the lack of interest for "let me know." i absolutely love the track! it's one of my favorite pop singles in ages, with "overpowered" pretty high on that list too. to be fair, they are very different tracks

glad roisin murphy is bouncing back. the buzz around this album is building!!!

boo that roisin is slipping! any info on her exact positions (the first and updated?). i was hoping she'd climb!

fabulous for roisin murphy! can't wait for my copy in the post this week :)

before i post my chart, i must ask you all to do yourselves a favor and listen to Roisin Murphy's "Let Me Know" - it is honestly one of my favorite singles in a long, long time! (and i daresay - better than kylie's single?) very high for mark ronson and amy winehouse. it's still downloads only too!! and three cheers for roisin murphy! a top 5 would have been much deserved, but top 30 is great considering how little coverage her last album had

that is a bit low for natasha and celine dion though, would have expected some higher first week download sales for both really. i was (secretly and very guiltily) hoping britney might improve a bit on her peak the second week out, but i guess not... and feist dropping like a stone! looks like airplay didn't pick up after the sales did :(

i REALLY REALLY hope Roisin Murphy starts getting some of the recognition she deserves. the world needs to hear her!!! good for sugababes! and really great for "Valerie"! my favorite track on "Version" by far

well, he hasn't done much better in the US!
