I was waiting for someone to ask about Booty Luv, and Some Kinda Rush...(who surprise, surprise) did get to number 9, the same week, Sugababes were number 5! How about that!

Well never mind least they did get to 5. On the combined downloads/physicals, it only made 13!

On MRIB they entered at 10, but did rise in the first week of this year, and got to a high of number 5! Would you believe!

Yep, we posted it last week, but just imagine, what might have happened if Katie and Eva, had been available, in every shop, as well as Tesco. It might have given Leon, a run for his money! Although Katie was only at 58, in the physical/downloads combined!

Alright Angie? Next Week`s Chart, is just a collaberation, with some others that are in the business, of Record shops, that get hold of the sales of the 2 days, of Sunday and Monday. You get 4 sales top 20s, add them with 4 download charts. That makes 40% either way. Then take radio/tvplay, to beef up the sales positions (mainly of download only singles, that are greatly difficult to do, because download sales of newer material, tend to increase, as the week progresses). Its a 20% airplay, that completes the chart. And that`s why Worse Case Scenario was in, a few weeks back! We first started to do that chart, even before Radio Luxembourg finished. We started it in the spring of 1989 (just a few mates, really). It was very like the Luxembourg chart even then! As we got to 1990, we actually had BEVERLY CRAVEN`s "PROMISE ME" in the chart, a year before, it hit any other chart, as it was being played, all over Southern England! In the chart we did, it was number 5, a whole year, before 1991`s release! Then also, in 1993, we had CHAKA DEMUS and PLIERS, at number one, on the Christmas chart, a whole 2 weeks, before it actually happened! One of my mates, thought it might be an idea, to post one, on here. It proved quite well recieved, by the likes of Jonny, and many others. So, that`s why I decided to post it every week. As last year came, it was easier to do an album next week`s chart, as the downloads, don`t greatly effect that (yet)! Unfortunately, the downloads increasing, through the week (on the singles front), put`s our top 10, on a Monday nearer to a physical top ten.

Thanks Mikey mate. As I typed I realised suddenly Jay is actually no. 11 today, I typed it at 12! Funnily enough, SAY SAY SAY was an mrib number 1, in 83, after relentless plugs, on Radio 1, and even appearing (after it was going down the chart to 14) on Noel Edmond`s LATE LATE BREAKFAST SHOW.

QUEEN nicking their title from a famous Marx Brothers film, of the same name, with hilarity all over the film set! This Queen album containing the hit number 2 single, SOMEBODY TO LOVE. Also recorded as part of the e.p. that George michael did with the group, some years later, after FREDDIE MERCURY`s passing. STEVIE WONDER`s Album containing the song ISN`T SHE LOVELY. Stevie refused to cut the song, for a prospective single release. So, one DAVID PARTON (an english producer/singer) cut a single version of his own, and sounded similar to Stevie, himself! Our lot noticed that in HMV (where Jay was selling well, even on Monday, like we said) He is no. 2 in the overall group of stores (physical, again of course)! Today Adele had slipped to no. 5 in there! Again physically.

I noticed yesterday, she wasn`t in the Tesco download chart, Physically on just yestrerday`s survey, that I did with some colleagues in the biz, Basshunter were still outselling....that was because on Sunday`s sales, Adele wasn`t yet available physically, coz she was released yesterday, of course.

The physical release of These New Puritans, (Elvis) has been put back I believe to 11th Feb

I remember it was championed by Kiss100, in December, and has popped up, on Capital too. I had actually forgotten, about Jay Sean totally. Of course he had 2 top 10 and 1 top 20 hits between 2003 - 04, and a top 30 album. He was dropped by Virgin after that, and subsequently got a new record deal elsewhere. So, this is the come back single, with an album available from March. Feels like an advert, that reply!!

It seem`s so, it was selling apparently well, in HMV, and Woolies, but it does not appear to be on download charts. So, it`s selling good physically, even so in a small back street shop. But physical sales, usually get beaten by downloads, as the week, goes on...that could mean a drop, by the end of the week??

JWith JAY SEAN doing well physically, and seemingly no downloads, can he really be in the top 10, on Sunday? How did we do last week? Well, out of the top 20, we had 18 songs in (but not nessecarily in the right order)!! We missed entries for COURTEENERS (who we had at 24, and we had WOMBATS at 22. So, pretty good, and similar on the album chart. Always we will be a bit out with downloads (as they increase, as the week progresses, i.e. ADELE last week opened in the top 15, but by Wednesday, she was at no.2)!! KELLY ROWLAND smashes to 13 today, combined with downloads and airplay. A clever boffin, predicted if she were available physically, she would prevail up to number 8 (will that be the high spot, for WORK)? How will it compare to Sunday`s new chart, and the mids, we will see!! I will add a chart from Luxembourg in 1986, see how they did then... This was broadcasted on Luxembourg, on Tuesday 21st Jan 1986. Airplay and the combination, of downloads, my dear!! We actually worked out, that if it was already available physically, under a clever made up guess of physical sales, it would already be number 3!! So we come to the conclusion, it will probably be the next new number one!!

I started this last week, so this is the 2nd week. We salute what Radio Luxembourg, used to do. With a bit of sales/airplay we get a taster, for the following week`s chart. So this afternoon, I got busy with 4 colleagues (thats Brian, Dave, and Peter. A couple work in record shops, and me and Peter did the rest. We took info from various stores singles charts, 4 in all, including Woolworths and HMV, and 2 smaller outlets. Then we looked at the airplay chart, and 4 download charts. Added it together, and came up, with this. JACK JOHNSON, and JOSS STONE are also new entries. How will it reflect on the Official Chart, and the mids? How did we do last Monday...well not bad, Monday sales, in the shops we visited still showed LEON, at the top at that point, and LUPE, and KANYE gained more downloads as the week, progressed. Only real mistake, was with the HOOSIERS, and the exaggerated airplay on WORSE CASE SCENARIO, that failed to gain sales, of any sort!! Well they got all of the positions wrong!! But 12 out of the top 15, did actually appear somewhere in the official top 15, the following Sunday! In the top 20, Luxembourg missed new entries from, BROTHER BEYOND (BE MY TWIN), TEN CITY (THAT`S THE WAY LOVE IS), WILL DOWNING/MICA PARIS (WHERE IS THE LOVE), and ADEVA (RESPECT)...It has to be said though, THE LIVING YEARS was actually a midweek number one, and they were only a position out, in the end...nearly there with ROACHFORD (who was no. 7, officially, and HOLLY JOHNSON at 12, was no. 10, officially!
