Next Week`s Chart Mon 28th Apr 08
Ha Ha! It was a near miss for Ben`s Brother though, what! Just missed at 41. :D. I shall have to do that chart, pretty much alone tomorrow...with no Dave, and Peter (mr hmv) Jay, on his hols. Never mind, I shall get into the various systems! Who else announces, a chart on a Bank Holiday, ay! Lol :yahoo:

How would you change the chart show
What to do with the chart show? Personally start the programme at 2pm. Give the great Sean Tilley, the job as host (he`d been brillant, currently at Severn Sound). He knows the facts about everyone. Also, double up the new chart, with a chart from the past. That would increase listening figures, and bring in the slightly older person to listen (a family thing). Add in some sound effects, for songs going up and down, keep chat to a minimum (i.e. less chat, more chart). In 5 hours they could get in 80 songs. Call it the double top 40 show, put it on Radio 2, and get rid of the annoying nonsensical "Pick Of The Pops". Then the audience would double anyway. The Album chart, could follow (with it`s own show, complete with compilation chart too). Radio One would then concentrate on pure "new" music.

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 9th May 08
One Night Only have slipped all week, haven`t they? Obviously the download version isn`t doing very well. ;) I wonder if Dave can possibly prove right, with Cardiff FC. Apparently, the pre-orders at HMV place it at number one! :w00t:

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 9th May 08
Our weekly tribute to the now defunct MRIB singles and Album charts is here! Dave and me took a look at Chart Show tv`s top 40 (which is broadcasted Saturday 3pm - 6.30pm, playing the complete top 40 along with bubblers and new releases). Altogether getting 50 plus songs into 3 and a half hours! Anyway we looked at that, added in sales from today, and came up with the latest charts around exclusive to our brilliant forum here at Buzzjack (the best chart forum, on the web by far). We have top films, dvds, as well as a trip back to May 1983, and of course the very latest top 20 albums, and top 50 singles here in the UK. Let`s begin with the top films this week.... 01 NE FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL 02 NE THE EVE 03 01 21 04 02 FOOLS GOLD 05 03 IN BRUGES 06 05 SON OF RANBOW 07 NE DECEPTION 08 04 STREET KINGS 09 06 SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES 10 09 HAPPY GO LUCKY FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL pulls in a gross earning of £2,144,038...3 times as much as THE EVE (films courtesy of Screen International, for UK box office) Here are the top dvds.... 01 NE I AM LEGEND 02 01 ST TRINIANS 03 02 ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 04 03 STARDUST 05 04 RUN FAT BOY RUN 06 NE BALLS OF FURY 07 06 THE INVASION 08 07 BEOWULF 09 09 RATATOUILLE 10 10 30 DAYS OF NIGHT I AM LEGEND was rented/bought by 124,877 takers, compared to 93,437 for ST TRINIANS (with I AM LEGEND having double takers of ST TRINIANS last week! (the dvd chart is a combination of Blockbuster/mribvideo sales info). Here are this week`s top 20 albums... w/k ending 9th May 08 01 NE HARD CANDY - MADONNA 02 NE THIRD - PORTISHEAD 03 01 AGE OF UNDERSTATEMENT - LAST SHADOW PUPPETS 04 03 CLUBLAND CLASSIX - VARIOUS 05 NE SAM SPARRO - SAM SPARRO 06 04 NOW 69 - VARIOUS 07 06 ROCKFERRY - DUFFY 08 NE CREAM-15 YEARS - VARIOUS 09 02 KONK - KOOKS 10 05 SPIRIT - LEONA LEWIS 11 07 TRANCE ANTHEMS 08/DAVE PEARCE - VARIOUS 12 10 ADDICTED TO BASSLINE - VARIOUS 13 11 SCOUTING FOR GIRLS - SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 14 28 LESSONS TO BE LEARNED - GABRIELLA CILMI 15 14 19 - ADELE 16 08 E=MC2 - MARIAH CAREY 17 12 GARAGE CLASSICS/MOS - VARIOUS 18 NE 101 TRANCE ANTHEMS - VARIOUS 19 19 BACK TO BLACK - AMY WINEHOUSE 20 13 ALL THE RIGHT REASONS - NICKELBACK Compilations still doing brill, with almost a dozen in the top 30, this week. MADONNA outsells them all though. (the album chart is compiled from sales across Britain, and download sites, including chart info up to and including Wednesday night). Let`s take a look back to May 1983 next, starting with the albums then.... w/k ending 7th May 1983 01 01 LET`S DANCE - DAVID BOWIE 02 02 THRILLER - MICHAEL JACKSON 03 07 TRUE - SPANDAU BALLET 04 05 SWEET DREAMS - EURYTHMICS 05 03 FINAL CUT - PINK FLOYD 06 04 FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF NIGHT - BONNIE TYLER 07 24 CARGO - MEN AT WORK 08 20 WHITE FEATHERS - KAJAGOOGOO 09 09 QUICK STEP AND SIDE KICKS - THOMPSON TWINS 10 08 WAR - U2 11 06 THE HURTING - TEARS FOR FEARS 12 12 TOTO IV - TOTO 13 NE LUXURY GAP - HEAVEN 17 14 18 HIGHLAND HIGH RAIN - AXTEC CAMERA 15 10 LOCAL HERO - MARK KNOPFLER 16 13 THE KEY - JOAN ARMATRADING 17 11 RIO - DURAN DURAN 18 34 HIGHLY STRUNG - STEVE HACKETT 19 17 PRIDE - ROBERT PALMER 20 15 SCRIPT HAS A JESTERS TEAR - MARILLION Compilations were scarce in 83, but CHARTBUSTERS (a forerunner to the Now series, was just out of the top 20). DAVID BOWIE reigned supreme with his big seller at the top, followed by THRILLER (the original)....remember the micky take by LENNY HENRY on his show?! SPANDAU BALLET had the album, with the same title, as the big selling single. MEN AT WORK hit the big time in the UK in 83, but were already big in Australia (their native country) and also sold well in the States in 1982. HEAVEN 17, had a few released singles already in 1981, and actually featured on TOP OF THE POPS with SIMON BATES in 81, with the song "PLAY TO WIN". Were MARILLION paying homeage to our very own Jester? Maybe not! All these albums stick in my mind from 1983, because people used to have a chance to win them on Radio 2 in "DAVID HAMILTON`s MUSIC GAME", a daily quiz, with David on his then drivetime show. Here are 1983`s singles from this week then.... 01 05 TRUE - SPANDAU BALLET 02 07 KEEP FEELING FASCINATION - HUMAN LEAGUE 03 04 WORDS - F.R. DAVID 04 02 BEAT IT - MICHAEL JACKSON 05 03 CHURCH OF THE POISON MIND - CULTURE CLUB 06 12 WE ARE DETECTIVE - THOMPSON TWINS 07 15 TEMPTATION - HEAVEN 17 08 01 LET`S DANCE - DAVID BOWIE 09 30 PALE SHELTER - TEARS FOR FEARS 10 06 LOVE IS A STRANGER - EURYTHMICS 11 10 TRUE LOVE WAYS - CLIFF RICHARD 12 24 DANCING TIGHT - GALAXY/PHIL FEARON 13 16 FLIGHT OF ICARUS - IRON MAIDEN 14 08 BLUE MONDAY - NEW ORDER 15 17 ROSANNA - TOTO 16 38 OUR LIPS ARE SEALED - FUN BOY THREE 17 09 BREAKAWAY - TRACEY ULLMAN 18 23 FRIDAY NIGHT (LIVE) - KIDS FROM FAME 19 20 I AM I`M ME - TWISTED SISTER 20 11 HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT - TRACIE 21 29 LAST FILM - KISSING THE PINK 22 26 OVERKILL - MEN AT WORK 23 18 YOUNG FREE AND SINGLE - SUNFIRE 24 28 MISS THE GIRL - CREATURES 25 31 I`M NEVER GIVING UP - SWEET DREAMS 26 13 OOH TO BE AH - KAJAGOOGOO 27 14 BOXER BEAT - JO BOXERS 28 NE CAN`T GET USED TO LOSING YOU - THE BEAT 29 NE BLIND VISION - BLANCMANGE 30 37 HEY - JULIO IGLESIAS SPANDAU BALLET beating them all in 83, and knocking even Bowie off the top. F.R. DAVID had the one top 3 hit, the follow up "MUSIC" missed totally. MICHAEL JACKSON was doing well with his FALL OUT BOY cover!! Speaking of HEAVEN 17, as we were...they actually were former members of the HUMAN LEAGUE. CLIFF RICHARD was singing with the LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, in a live moment. EURYTHMICS rereleased an 82 flop. NEW ORDER with the biggest selling 12 inch, of all time. FAME was still big on the telly, with the Kids, still proving that. FUN BOY THREE covered a minor GO-GOs hit....the GO-GOs featured BELINDA CARLISLE, of course. KISSING THE PINK started promising, but the follow up singles flopped badly. IRON MAIDEN and TWISTED SISTER got heavy (will we ever see Maiden back in the singles chart, again)?! SUNFIRE gave us a simple melodic soul sound. SWEET DREAMS sang the EUROVISION entry, but disappeared without trace! The CREATURES were more or less SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES, and the BEAT covered ANDY WILLIAMS 1963, number 3 BBC chart single. TRACIE (YOUNG) was a female singer (who previously sang with the STYLE COUNCIL). JULIO IGLESIAS prop up the bottom of the top 30, and PINK FLOYD with "NOT NOW JOHN", had to be content with number 31, in the MRIB top 40 singles chart. I am done....stick around for Dave, who will complete the Thread of this week`s most up to date singles top 50 plus..... One good thing of lodging with Trevs, and the family means I just take over just like that :D Magic! Here are firstly, the physical top 10 this week 01 Madonna 02 Usher (new) 03 Sam Sparro 04 Jay Sean (new) 05 Estelle 06 September 07 Flo rida 08 Pendulum (new) 09 Mariah 10 Chris Brown The physical chart supplied by a combination of HMV, and other stores sales. Number 41 without downloads only goes to ONE REPUBLIC/TIMBALAND and the long runner, "Apologise". It resides at 52, in the combined top 75, today. Chartshow TV positions follow the = sign. 3 weeks for Madonna, selling 7,000 more than Sam, a close call but Sam gets 2nd place to WILEY (who seems to be running out of steam, on download sites). Outside the 50, not much is happening..all the action is inside the 50. LIL`WAYNE slips to 51, SHAWTY GET LOOSE is in the top 75, along with DAN LE SAC and HADOUKEN. Losers this week are IVYRISE, CRISIS, BRIGADE, BRIT AND ALEX and the DELAYS (who looked promising, then fell off). Next week look out for albums by the DELAYS, DEF LEPPARD, ELVIS COSTELLO, STEVE WINWOOD, JACK MCMANUS, SCOOTER, JAMES HUNTER, SMASH HITS - THE 80s and the new HED KANDI compilation "WORLD SERIES LIVE, SAN FRANSISCO">>>And look out for singles from RACONTEURS, SHAGGY/AKON, CHARLETONS, WIDEBOYS, KYLIE, LES ARTISTES, and my top top 20 tip, THE CARDIFF CITY FC song by JAMES FOX, "BLUEBIRDS FLYING HIGH", will outsell Madonna.......or maybe not!!!!!!!! Don`t forget Chart Show TV for the fastest chart on TV, tomorrow 3 - 6.30pm. I will slip the positions from that in tomorrow around 5pm.

There was no sign, of FREEMASONS today, DUFFY is still hanging on with WARWICK AVENUE, and SARA BAREILLES also knocks about the top 70. Also, in the outer reaches of the full chart are CRISIS, DELAYS and the HMV pre-order of the week is JAMES FOX/CARDIFF CITY FC, in HMV the pre-orders are putting it, in the top 3! Last week we had 36 in the 40, so once again we did ok....late arrivals of downloads by WILEY, PENDULUM, SCRIPT, and ASHLEE SIMPSON caught us out. Givew me proper reggae and ska anyday! Is that why we had a bad week with only 31 in the top 40?!! That`s what came of listening to Dr Neil Fox, on the Pepsi Chart. They championed both PHIL COLLINS and ELTON JOHN/MARCELLA DETROIT and both songs did not do that well, in the Official Chart...Elton peaked at 24 (13 on the PEPSI CHART) and PHIL went to 48 officially, and 22 on the PEPSI CHART. Dave will do the honours later in the week, with the top 40, without downloads only (probably Weds, he tells me....since he is lodging with us, at the mo). How will we do on our preview today?.....time will only tell!

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 2nd May 08
Hi Brian, I used to listen to those charts on Capital. They were both compiled by MRIB until 1993. All they were really, was the midweek chart, and Saturday chart, based on London only sales. If a record in the chart wasn`t included in Capital`s airplay, it was removed. I remember SL2`s "On A Ragga Tip, being a victim in 1992. Capital only started to put in on their playlist, when it went to number 2 nationally. Strange but true, after Capital added it to their playlist, it went straight in to their chart at number 2, the following week! The MRIB London only chart existed the same as the national one 1978 - 1993. Like you said Peter Young did it until 1982, Alan Freeman dropped it for the NME chart June 1982 - Sept 1984 (then return with the London chart, 1984 - Dec 1988). Pat Sharp did it from Jan 1989 - 1991, when Neil Fox took over. Clive Warren was just a stand in host in 1991, when he did it on a Wednesday night. It was a good and pacey show, and again far better than Hit40uk, and Radio One. You may remember Clive Warren, went on to be a stand in host, for Mark Goodier on Radio One!

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 2nd May 08
Well last week, we said a bye bye to the mrib charts. After 30 years, the company will be concentrating on films and dvds, as well as mobile entertainment. Dave Taylor, was rather sad (like a few of us). He will complete our thread later around 10pm, with his thoroughly researched singles/tracks. Dave has loosely based it, on Chart Show tv`s chart, but only loosely, as he has added all the info from Singles/download sites/stores to boost it up to tonight. Chart Show tv, will be running a brand new top 40 in full video form (Saturdays, from 3pm). Who need`s Ferne and Reggie! I am going to start the thread with Albums, Dvds, and top film charts. We have taken Album info, from stores and download sites. Dave was toying around with putting pre-release albums in, but decide not too. Although it would have been an idea, but then that is a prelude to Next Week`s Chart, that we do on Mondays. So, starting with 20 biggest albums, followed by a classic MRIB album chart from 1980. This Week`s Album top 20 w/k beginning 26th Apr 08 (last week`s positions are taken from the last mrib chart) 01 NE AGE OF UNDERSTATEMENT - LAST SHADOW PUPPETS 02 01 KONK - KOOKS 03 03 CLUBLAND CLASSIX - VARIOUS 04 04 NOW 69 - VARIOUS 05 07 SPIRIT - LEONA 06 05 ROCKFERRY - DUFFY 07 08 TRANCE ANTHEMS/DAVE PEARCE - VARIOUS 08 02 E=MC2 - MARIAH CAREY 09 NE GOOD TO BE BAD - WHITESNAKE 10 13 ADDICTED TO BASSLINE - VARIOUS 11 09 SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 12 12 GARAGE CLASSICS - VARIOUS 13 15 ALL THE RIGHT REASONS - NICKELBACK 14 RE 19 - ADELE 15 19 STEP UP 2 THE STREETS - VARIOUS/OST 16 14 101 DRIVING SONGS - VARIOUS 17 NE HARD2BEAT CLUB CLASSICS - VARIOUS 18 17 DREAMING OUT LOUD - ONE REPUBLIC 19 18 BACK TO BLACK - AMY WINEHOUSE 20 10 ACCELERATE - R.E.M. LAST SHADOW PUPPETS, win the race easily. It will be short lived for them, at the top because Monday see`s releases for MADONNA, PORTISHEAD, SAM SPARRO, and THE FALL. They should all go top 20. MADONNA, and PORTISHEAD for the battle. Here are the top 20 albums from 1980 this very week, from the MRIB/RECORD BUSINESS charts 01 01 GREATEST HITS - ROSE ROYCE 02 10 SKY 2 - SKY 03 05 MAGIC OF BONEY M - BONEY M. 04 02 12 GOLD BARS - STATUS QUO 05 03 DUKE - GENESIS 06 17 GREATEST HITS - SUZI QUATRO 07 06 SINGLES ALBUM - BOBBY VEE 08 14 IRON MAIDEN - IRON MAIDEN 09 16 HYPNOTISED - UNDERTONES 10 22 BY REQUEST - LENA MARTELL 11 NE HEAVEN AND HELL - BLACK SABBATH 12 07 THE BARBARA DICKSON ALBUM - BARBARA DICKSON 13 26 SNAKES AND LADDERS - GERRY RAFFERTY 14 04 BRITISH STEEL - JUDAS PRIEST 15 08 WHEELS OF STEEL - SAXON 16 09 REGATTA DE BLANC - POLICE 17 15 PRETENDERS - PRETENDERS 18 NE SOMETIMES YOU WIN - DR HOOK 19 12 COUNTRY NUMBER ONE - DON GIBSON 20 11 FACADES - SAD CAFE Getting heavey in 1980 with rock from SAXON, JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, and slightly less heavy with STATUS QUO, and GENESIS. Was it just coincidence that JUDAS PRIEST and SAXON had titles with STEEL in them? Strikes of the British Steel industry kept the news well going in 1980!! Quite a mixed bag with BOBBY VEE and LENA MARTELL both sandwiched between the heavy stuff. BARBARA DICKSON scored with some singles from the album, but LENA MARTELL could not follow up her number one single "ONE DAY AT A TIME". FERGAL SHARKEY was doing great with the UNDERTONES....DR HOOK had a few hits in 1980, from the album....SKY were doing classical rocky stuff, we all remember the impressive "TOCCATA". I always thought it sounded a little like the "RETURN OF THE SAINT, theme", with IAN OGILVY, on tv at the time! Just outside the 20 that week was PETE TOWNSEND and the EMPTY GLASS album (Pete, of the WHO of course, who featured on an edition of ALEXIS KORNER`s Sunday night show on Radio One, in 1980). Those VARIOUS ARTISTS were scarce in 1980, but STARTRACKS was just outside the 20. SAD CAFE were in the top 20, and should have done better with their follow up singles to "EVERY DAY HURTS", but never made the top 10 again. Here are this weeks top UK films, from the Box Office (courtesy of Screen International) w/k beginning 25th Apr 08 01 01 21 02 NE FOOLS GOLD 03 NE IN BRUGES 04 NE STREET KINGS 05 02 SON OF RANBOW 06 04 SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES 07 05 STEP UP 2 THE STREETS 08 03 27 DRESSES 09 NE HAPPY GO LUCKY 10 07 HORTON HEARS A WHO Numbers of 21, and 27 in the top UK films this week, for the second week running. Let`s take a look at the top dvds (from Blockbuster Rentals) 01 NE ST TRINIANS 02 NE ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 03 03 STARDUST 04 04 RUN FAT BOY RUN 05 02 ENCHANTED 06 08 THE INVASION 07 06 BEOWULF 08 10 THE KINGDOM 09 07 RATATOUILLE 10 12 30 DAYS OF NIGHT WE OWN THE NIGHT falls out of the top ten from last week, along with THE BRAVE ONE and MR BROOKS. On the other hand if you add up all the people that bought "ST TRINIANS", as well as those that rented it, you have 59,412 takers! Pretty impressive! Dave will take over soon with his brand new Singles and Tracks chart. But first here is the Singles chart from 1980 this very week 01 05 GENO - DEXY`S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS 02 01 CALL ME - BLONDIE 03 15 COMING UP - PAUL MCCARTNEY 04 02 KING/FOOD FOR THOUGHT - UB40 05 11 TOCCATA - SKY 06 06 SILVER DREAM MACHINE - DAVID ESSEX 07 04 SEXY EYES - DR HOOK 08 03 WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU-FORGIVE ME GIRL - DETROIT SPINNERS 09 08 TALK OF THE TOWN - PRETENDERS 10 12 DON`T PUSH IT DON`T FORCE IT - LEON HAYWOOD 11 20 CHECK OUT THE GROOVE - BOBBY THURSTON 12 26 THE GROOVE - RODNEY FRANKLIN 13 09 NIGHT BOAT TO CAIRO - MADNESS 14 21 MY PERFECT COUSIN - UNDERTONES 15 10 JANUARY FEBRUARY - BARBARA DICKSON 16 07 DANCE YOURSELF DIZZY - LIQUID GOLD 17 18 MY OH MY - SAD CAFE 18 17 KOOL IN THE KAFTAN - B.A. ROBERTSON 19 24 DON`T MAKE WAVES - NOLANS 20 44 I SHOULDA LOVE YA - NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN 21 NE WHAT`S ANOTHER YEAR - JOHNNY LOGAN 22 23 MISSING WORDS - THE SELECTOR 23 13 POISON IVY - LAMBRETTAS 24 31 WHEELS OF STEEL - SAXON 25 36 STARING AT THE RUDE BOYS - RUTS 26 NE GOLDEN YEARS E.P. - MOTORHEAD 27 NE BREATHING - KATE BUSH 28 30 HI FIDELITY - ELVIS COSTELLO AND THE ATTRACTIONS 29 16 TURN IT ON AGAIN - GENESIS 30 28 LET`S DO ROCK STEADY - BODYSNATCHERS DEXY`S and KEVIN ROWLAND stealing the number one, from BLONDIE in1980. PAUL MCCARTNEY`s title was apt, and smashing up the top 20. DAVID ESSEX had the theme to the film "SILVER DREAM RACER". Already told you about SKY. UB40 got more play on FOOD FOR THOUGHT more than KING, the double A sided hit. DETROIT SPINNERS re-worked a FOUR SEASONS number from 67. Good advice from LEON HAYWOOD. The MADNESS song came from the WORK REST AND PLAY E.P. RODNEY FRANKLIN had a catchy instrumental hit....SAD CAFE`s hit had a ROLLING STONES connection....BARBARA DICKSON had her third top 20 hit....JOHNNY LOGAN won EUROVISION, he was born in Australia, but spent all his life virtually in Ireland. He beat the UK entrants PRIMA DONNA (who came third) with LOVE ENOUGH FOR TWO, and totally missed the top 40, by a couple of positions. NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN was actually pronounced NARDA but everyone got his name wrong. I saw him in concert in 1988, and he spent about 10 minutes telling us! MOTORHEAD got heavy again with their E.P. The NOLANS followed up I`M IN THE MOOD FOR DANCING, but didn`t make waves! SELECTOR and BODYSNATCHERS were off the TWO TONE record label, and revived the ska movement. The RUTS took the fledging punk sound. Meanwhile my favourite female was KATE BUSH. Outside the top 30 was BAD MANNERS with NE NE NA NA NA NA NU NU, great lyrics yeah! Stick around Dave will complete the thread with the Singles chart (the new one, he put together between 9, and 11pm)........

It`s Monday, and back to business.....and thanks to Mr Taylor, for continuing this preview thread, of what may happen, on Next Sunday`s top 40! So, the gang were out today, and Peter, and John from their record stores, and other info from HMV, Woolworths, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury`s, and the download sites, of iTunes, Tesco, HMV, Woolworths, amazon, and play.com Here are what we found in albums selling today 01 NE AGE OF UNDERSTATEMENT - LAST SHADOW PUPPETS 02 01 KONK - KOOKS 03 03 CLUBLAND CLASSIX - VARIOUS 04 07 SPIRIT - LEONA 05 04 NOW 69 - VARIOUS 06 02 e=mc2 - MARIAH CAREY 07 05 ROCKFERRY - DUFFY 08 NE HARD2BEAT CLUB ANTHEMS - VARIOUS 09 12 SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 10 06 DAVE PEARCE-TRANCE ANTHEMS - VARIOUS 11 15 ALL THE RIGHT REASONS - NICKELBACK 12 NE ESSENTIAL CLUB ANTHEMS - VARIOUS 13 10 ADDICTED TO BASSLINE - VARIOUS 14 NE NOW AND THEN - CHRIS DE BURGH 15 11 GARAGE CLASSICS - VARIOUS 16 16 DREAMING OUT LOUD - ONE REPUBLIC 17 20 19 - ADELE 18 28 ELLIOT MINOR 19 NE GOOD TO BE BAD - WHITESNAKE 20 17 BACK TO BLACK - AMY W 21 19 EDGE OF THE 80S - VARIOUS 22 09 SHINE A LIGHT - ROLLING STONES 23 22 101 DRIVING SONGS - VARIOUS 24 18 ST JUDE - COURTEENERS 25 25 TANGLED UP - GIRLS ALOUD Rather a quiet Album week, it look`s this week apart from Last Shadow Puppets (I believe Mart!n`s tip for the top, recently)! Climbing back up further down Gabriella Cilmi, the Hoosiers, and the Feeling. In the Singles/songs today we found this outlook... 01 01 4 MINUTES - MADONNA 02 02 AMERICAN BOY - ESTELLE 03 04 BLACK AND GOLD - SAM SPARRO 04 03 LOW - FLO RIDA 05 05 CRY FOR YOU - SEPTEMBER 06 13 LOVE IN THIS CLUB - USHER 07 07 MERCY - DUFFY 08 14 HEARTBEAT - SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 09 06 TOUCH MY BODY - MARIAH 10 24 HEARTBREAKER - WILL I. Phil Campbell, Fall out Boy, and Jordin Sparks, were in the top 50, along with Miss Kylie Minogue. Now more on Ben`s Brother because we looked into our crystal ball of future hits, and we think that as the pre-orders of the physical version of Stuttering, are anthing to go by, it will soon be heading to the top 20, without fail. The other future hit is Wiley, Wear My Rolex is released on the 5th May. But pre-orders already place that at number 11!!!!!!! On last week`s Next Week thread we had the top 5 almost exact, 19 in the 20, 28 in the 30, and 36 in the top 40. In the albums, we had 18 in the 20, 29 in the 30, and the number one was correct, funnily Mariah managed to slip behind Leona, and 2 compilations. Let`s look back to see how the team did in 1998... This was the 20th Apr 98, the chart for Sunday 25th Apr 98 01 NE ALL THAT I NEED - BOYZONE 02 NE SOUND OF DRUMS - KULA SHAKER 03 01 IT`S LIKE THAT - RUN DMC/JASON NEVINS 04 02 TURN IT UP - BUSTA RYHMES 05 05 FEEL IT - TAMPERER 06 NE LAST THING ON MY MIND - STEPS 07 03 MY HEART WILL GO ON - CELINE DION 08 NE ROADRAGE - CATATONIA 09 NE SUPERSTAR - NOVY VS ENIAC 10 NE KEEP ON DANCING - PERPETUAL 11 08 FOUND A CURE - ULTRA NATE 12 NE NICE N` SLOW - USHER 13 09 TRULY MADLY DEEPLY - SAVAGE GARDEN 14 11 HOW DO I LIVE WITHOUT YOU - LEANN RIMES 15 NE DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY - MAVERICKS 16 10 LA PRIMAVERA - SASH 17 NE FUN - DA MOB AND JOCELYN BROWN 18 06 KISS THE RAIN - BILLY MYERS 19 NE SPARK - TORI AMOS 20 NE DEJA VOUS - LORD TARIQ AND PETER GUNZ 21 04 ALL MY LIFE - K.CI AND JOJO 22 NE NOT IF YOU WERE THE LAST JUNKY - DANDY WARHOLS 23 18 KUNG-FU - 187 LOCKDOWN 24 07 SOUNDS OF WICKEDNESS - T.ZANT 25 13 IMPRESSION THAT I GET - MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES 26 14 LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU - ROBBIE WILLIAMS 27 12 SAY YOU DO - ULTRA 28 16 THAT`S WHERE THE STORY ENDS - TIN TIN OUT 29 22 NOBODY BETTER - TINA MOORE 30 15 STOP - SPICE GIRLS Shock Horror etc...the Spice Girls did not get to number one with Stop! We had 27 in the top 30 in 98, but the order was out! Although the top 5 wasn`t too out. Dave will have the top 40 without downloads, sometime during the week. And we will have a replacement up to date chart to replace the now defunct MRIB Singles and Albums charts late Friday/early Saturday. As a tribute to the original Network Chart, much missed by some of us, who remember it`s inception, as a alternate for an already flagging Radio One chart in the mid-eighties.....oh dear politics!!!!!!

Mart!n, have you got the combined artist/compilation chart? If so please!

I don`t believe Peace On Earth was played on Radio 1. Certainly Simon Bates didn`t play it on the top 20 show. A chap called Pete Drummond (remember him?) played it on the ILR countdown on Radio 210 in Reading, all the time.

I think it would be a good idea, if he did. He has years and years, of Radio experience, and the charts. Having work with him, many times. He is brilliant. From what I hear he gets a lot of stick, on that "other forum".

Thanks Robbie mate! Who could forget the British Hustle. I actually quite like Peace on Earth, which if I remember was the other side? Which through popular demand, became a double A, with it in the Autumn of 78.
