Radio 1's Christmas Schedule 2008
Can someone tell me why this thread and its Radio 2 equivalent are in the "TV and soaps discussion" subforum?

Sports Personality of the year
Going on this theory, the two most likely candidates for the Overseas Award shouldn't be considered - despite one smashing three athletics world records in Beijing, and the other winning eight gold medals in swimming - because neither events are mainstream sports.

Are injured feelings really worth more than a lost limb?
Let's not forget this: A man who lost both his legs, an eye and his spleen in the July 7 attacks: £181,000 (or similar). Those two Muslim women who were harrassed: £10 million. Tell me where the justice in that is.

Sports Personality of the year
Adlington FTW. Seriously, how often do 19 year olds go to the Olympics for experience for the next one, and come back with two gold medals, breaking the world record in both of them? (And could have won a third gold medal if the swimming chiefs had a clue with the selection for the relay.)

Life without Woolies
Let's face it, Tesco can afford to buy them and not even notice their profit fall (I think they made something like £2 billion last year).

Star Trek
Who was convinced when they announced that Daniel Craig would be the next Bond? Incidentally, didn't they say this time last year (ish) that it would be released on Boxing Day this year?

Cinema Chain to have over-18's only showings!
That's true - but it's violent action that isn't suitable for a 12-year-old*, rather than action. * - Jo's sister has a 12-year-old, and she refused to take him to see it. (Largely cos of what Jo told her about said film.)

The Day UK Democracy Died!
"The Day UK Democracy Died"? That happened a loooooong time ago.

Radio 1's Christmas Schedule 2008
And they really think someone's going to spend TWELVE HOURS listening to the radio? I know there's no football then, but… DAMN. Hopefully I'll be too drunk to hear most of it. Either that or still on a bender - especially since I don't return to work until January 5th.

Christmas Songs in the Christmas Chart
Wasn't it in the chart of 23 December 2007?

Life without Woolies
You should see the games section in Preston's Woolies - they've either got games no-one wants, or have been "temporarily" out of stock since September. And it's not hard to see why they're going down the drain - the company that I work for has a supplier that can sell us (for example) A4 week to view diaries for about 50p. Woolies' price for the same type? £4.99. And it's a shame to see them in this much sh!t - I've got fond memories of them. Especially since my first job was as a Saturday girl in the main Edinburgh branch.

ruined tracks.... who? why?
Walk This Way has been - thanks to that God-awful cover of it for Comic Relief last year.

what ironic question...?
To Alanis Morrisette - "Are you aware that the events of your song 'Ironic' aren't ironic, but merely 'unfortunate events'?"

The Record Of The Year 2008
Possibly the same as in 1998, when both Angels and Never Ever were shortlisted, despite both being released in 1997.

The Virgin Book of British Hit Singles Mistakes List

Divine - Sebastian Tellier
Who ever thought it would be used in a commercial? rTthvxpzNDM (Good taste, though - it was one of my favs this year.)

The Virgin Book of British Hit Singles Mistakes List
Mistake No3 - They say that Madonna sampled "Gimme Gimme Gimme" on "Hung Up" in 2006. I thought it was 2005.

Top 75 Singles / Albums + Compilation Chart
 (But I love how it's basically removing Snow Patrol from ever doing it.)

Now That's What I Call Music 83
Is it? I'm looking at Friday's listing on ITV1, and - Corrie aside - it looks as rubbish as ever.

BBC U-turn on decision to drop Christmas Top of the Pops
Good about the show coming back. Bad about the presenters - but isn't that what the mute button is for?

Best sequence of number 1s in the 2000s
I've got a run of seven in 2005: 1016: Oasis - The Importance Of Being Idle 1017: Gorilla - Dare 1018: Pussycat Dolls featuring Busta Rhymes - Don't Cha 1019: Sugababes - Push The Button 1020: Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor 1021: Westlife - You Raise Me Up 1022: Madonna - Hung Up PS - I know it's got Westlife, but I actually like that one. Run stopped, rather bizarrely, by the Pussycat Dolls.

What's up with these "deluxe editions"?
It's simple - press down the shift key and press 3 several times.

Christmas songs that may rechart again
He said the ones that didn't rechart last year - I believe that was No20 in the 23rd December 2007 chart (the one immediately before Christmas).

Top 75 Singles / Albums + Compilation Chart

BBC rules out TOTP return
I guess they've figured that, due to EastEnders, Doctor Who and the movie at 3.10pm, they don't want a guaranteed fourth ratings-winner (possibly the show before the Queen's speech?).
