Now That's What I Call Music! The 25 Year Anniversary
That's because most of the songs could be catergorised into one of two categories: 1 - Chart-based dance. 2 - Remixes of non-dance tracks. And then there was the truly bizarre choices: Tubthumping and Hey Baby are by no stretch of the imagination dance songs.

What has happened to British music in 2008?
It's not often that I'll say this, but we should have a law like they have in France, where radio stations have to play a certain amount (45%, I think) of homegrown music. Probably won't happen - after all, how many people in Britain are going to admit that France have done something quite intelligent?

Chart shakeup keeps track with broadband age of music
I may have misunderstood this. If I have, please tell me. Does this mean that, after downloading something, we'll have to pay a monthly fee in order to continue to hear it? If so, that's really going to cut piracy.

Saturday Football Thread
After the ribbing that Jo* (a Man City fan) has given me over the years (such as when PNE lost to Port Vale a couple years ago), it was soooo nice to be the abuser for once. * - My flatmate, not the Man City player.

Now That's What I Call Music 71
Not necessarily:
-
Record Labels joining to push a new physical format
They won't, though - they'll replace the dollar sign with the pound sign.
-
Faith Hill - There You'll Be Itunes num 6 - why????
Other than this and Singin' In The Rain, how many songs have had an appearance in the Top 10 based on a reality show (ignoring the performers on those reality shows)?

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned this: ZLTz2U9RfmM A million points if you can show me when the first goal is scored.

Now That's What I Call Music! The 25 Year Anniversary
Personally, I'd release all the early ones - esp the ones that didn't originally have a CD. PLUS I'd also re-issue the No4 CD, since you need to take out a mortgage to afford to buy it.
-
Stop-gap singles
Did Oasis release an album last November - they made the Top 10 then with LDSMD.

Songs that were expected to be #1, but weren't
I remember Sky News saying that it was a strong candidate for No1, 'cos it was at No30 in the chart the day before it was released. What wasn't mentioned was that the Scissor Sisters were (I think) No4 with IDFLD, which came out the same day.

Heroes || Season Five
No it's not - it starts on October 1st: http://www.radiotimes.com/shows/heroes/ If you can't believe the Radio Times, you can you believe?

Cities in North doomed, says favourite Tory think-tank
They definitely will be when they find their tractors (read: 4x4s) on bricks after the wheels have been nicked. (Sorry, Jenny.)

HBOS rescued by Lloyds TSB
Does this mean that Howard Brown won't be taking his fish for a walk anymore?

Heroes || Season Five
Well, there's only 11 episodes, at an average length of 42 minutes, so will take you less than eight hours to watch it.

UEFA Champions League Thread 2008/2009
I know it's not the Champions League, but it's still a European competition: Although it's been taken down now, Blue Square were offering odds of 11/10 for Pavyluchenko to score in a Tottenham win. Obviously someone forgot to tell them that he's cuptied, having played for Spartak Moscow* in the CL qualifiers. * - Not Zenit, like I said yesterday.

The Retro thread of HORRORS!
What's worse than Barbie Girl making No1? Doctor Jones doing so as well: buXJlBd3Mf8

Juries to return to ESC final in 2009
Nah - the French entries in 2001 and 2002 were both better. 2001: aJ735VM79FI 2002: CP6WwbR-YrE

Terry wins red card appeal.
Any money you like, if it was a PNE player in the same circumstances, the appeal would have been unsuccessful. <_<

Juries to return to ESC final in 2009
I'd have only given points to three Western European countries: Portugal, Norway and Iceland. That's how bad the West is (but still not as bad as last year, though).

1995
1995, eh? Great year for music (even if Robson and Jerome did sell 1.8 million singles). I'll need to listen to the 1995 folder on my laptop before imputting more into this thread.

Newcastle up for sale...
You forgot one thing - walking out of the Hull game on 80 minutes. Mike Ashley's really gonna be hurt by that. Notice how the seller comes from Sunderland.

Songs that were expected to be #1, but weren't
 In 2003, people were certain that the Darkness' IBIATCL would knock Black Eyed Peas off No1.

The Retro thread of HORRORS!
This is probably a great explanation as to why country music never made it in the United Kingdom: i7G9uZSivI4 But then I suppose that some of you weren't alive when this came out.

A BIG Pop Thing is Coming!
£20? Best not to spend it in one go.
