They USED to - but they changed it in the late 80s, and now they are held in separate years. Starting in 1994.

Radio 1 Weekend line up changes
I love how one person returning from maternity leave is to replace one that's going on it.

Mega Charity Single News (Beyonce, Leona, Rihanna, Mariah)
I've got a feeling that this could end up like that 2001 version of What's Going On - an awful song only made popular by its charity status (in that case, Aids relief and 9/11 - the latter one was later added, with the single having been recorded, I believe, the Saturday before the attacks).

Cities in North doomed, says favourite Tory think-tank
So basically we should basically forget about the North and all head South? I can really see that happening. Also: "It said it was unrealistic to expect the prosperous cities of Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle to regenerate less well-off neighbours such as Liverpool, Rochdale, Bradford and Sunderland." Of course it is - Mancunians and Liverpudlians hate each other, as do Geordies and Mackems.

Steve McClaren goes Dutch
 The man is a legend (in my eyes, anyway - after all, he failed to take England to Euro 2008, and they weren't missed).

I think it started to pay-off in Sydney in 2000 (11 golds compared to 1 in Atlanta), not now.

America trying to "re-create" Eurovision over there...
 (Mind you, they've already got Dancing On Ice: Defrosted (or whatever its called)*, Britain's Got More Talent and the Xtra Factor to put in there as well.) * - I don't actually know if there's a spin-off of DOI, but it wouldn't surprise me if there is one.

Another by-election looming for Labour
What's that - another by-election? Brown must be loving these.

A level results!
Let's just hope that those students didn't copy your mistake. Oh, and I know it's almost a decade ago, but when I did my Higher Level exams in 2000, they were bloody difficult. And I got the equivalent of four As in them as well.

Look - we all know why China got these games: it was decided at the same IOC meeting that saw Samaranch replaced as IOC president by Rogge. Samaranch was apparently furious in 1993 when Sydney were awarded the Olympics in 2000 over Beijing.

Mothers and work: the great debate
My mum worked and raised me, and no harm came from it.

America trying to "re-create" Eurovision over there...
Two bits to note: 1 - "Monday, February 13 2006" 2 - "The show is expected to air this autumn in the US." Also note that it's called "World Vision", although only the states of America would be able to enter. Typical of the Yanks, that.

UFO sightings in UK this year reach 150
 My personal favourite is the guy who rang up 999 reporting a strange object in the sky. Which turned out to be the Moon.

League Cup round 1 thread
You've also got Milton Keynes Dons knocking Norwich out, and Crewe - who last year struggled against the drop from League 1 - defeating Barnsley, who (of course) beat Liverpool and Chelsea in the FA Cup. But you've got to consider Macclesfield (League 2) defeating Blackpool (Championship) a big shock as well. And at least we beat Chesterfield last night (I still have painful memories of last year's First Round, when PNE were knocked out by newcomers Morecambe).

Yes - as a guy on NBC said (they had a bit of it on Games Today tonight), "he's the most winningist athlete in Olympic history". Don't you just love some of the words Americans come up with?

Strongest hint from Wogan yet that he will quit Eurovision
Except when a country "has problems with their televoting" and uses it's jury, who've done a protest against policital voting and gives their 12 to the United Kingdom, mentioning no names. Malta 2007.

Russia Invades South Ossetia, Georgia
The BBC don't lie? Didn't Blue Peter call a cat "Socks" rather than "Cookie" in 2006 or 2007?

Votes Question
So why did I get it into my head that they did?

Strongest hint from Wogan yet that he will quit Eurovision
You mean the three minute coma that - rather bizarrely - only made two places higher than a song that DIDN'T represent Sweden. And as for "they are supposed to be voting for a song, not a next-door neighbour" - who did 8 of our 14 points this year come from? Ireland, which - last time I saw - was our only land neighbour. That's one theory of his shot down in flames right there.

Top 75 Singles / Albums Chart
You mean like something I said last week and it's reply? (See http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...75491&st=40 - third- and fourth- post from the bottom.)

21st Century no.1's survivors round 3
But I wouldn't call it better than Can't Get You Out Of My Head, though. (And my name's Jess, btw.)

Is 'Spiralling' Chart Eligible?
Considering that Coldplay's Violet Hill was chart eligible despite being a free-to-download track to begin with, I'd be surprised if it doesn't apply here. (Plus we all know that Radiohead's last album was pay what you want, and some people paid £0.00 for it.)

Whilst there might be *some* protests if we're still in Iraq, I doubt it'll be anywhere near like what we had in London, Paris and San Francisco this year. And that's why I'm watching as well - I couldn't give a flying fig where they're being held: as long as Britain is in it, I'll be watching and supporting them.

The world set to end on Saturday
It did for me - f***ed up the clock on my microwave and everything. Maybe that explains why the answer machine had no messages this morning: I know there was one on Friday (I had left it on there so I could deal with it today, since I got it at 5.28pm).

Vincent Simone & Louisa Lytton for the United Kingdom
Well, the rules *do* allow for a professional dancer. Only one, mind. (Unless, of course, your either Greece or Azerbaijan, in which case it's OK to have two professional dancers.)
