Votes Question
I'm surely not the only one to notice, but I love how they have how many people voted for the United Kingdom in the United Kingdom for 2004 but not 2003. I'd love to know how many people threw their money away voting for that woman who couldn't hit a note with a banjo - other than the Irish (they had to use a jury since there was a problem with the televoting. If their televoting was used, we'd have been spared that nil point embarrassment: they'd have given us 7).

Votes Question
Nope - I hated their song in 2003, but loved their 2004 entry. So much so that I voted for it.

101 90s Hits
Tbf, I think I've only seen one with Shakespear's Sister and possibly Garbage. I'll have to dig out the other two 90s compilations that I've got (Never Forget and 100 Hits 90s) and have a look. Just remembered - I Love The 90s (the one that came out in 2001 to coincide with the not-really-greatly-timed BBC2 TV series) had the Rembrandts.

British athletes outnumbered by two to one by politicians,
They "claim"? We all know they do - when Maddie McCann went missing, they had one person for the 1pm news, another one for the 6pm news, and yet another one for the 10pm news. AND, I believe, they had someone else for their news channel. In contrast, the Ipswich Prostitute Murders had - at most - two people.

Yes, you are. And London's so f***ed in 2012 - it's gonna be incredibly difficult to better that.

Votes Question
Iirc, you could vote by text as well. Also, iirc, they used to have a different vote giver for text votes in Record Of The Year.

Hilary Duff- The Best Of...
I'd love to see how popular this is in Britain? I only klnow (vaguely) of one song - and that's all because of it appearing on some Now CD (62, I think).

The world set to end on Saturday
The thing with Nostradamus is that his words can - and indeed have - been interpreted to mean anything. Remember when everyone said that the world was gonna end in 1999 because of his predictions?

Can Brown survive the rumours or is he on the way out?
I agree - and if Labour suffers one of the biggest swing in British history in apparently their third safest seat*, what hope is there in the rest of the country. (There might not have been a big problem if there was a leadership challenge - but appearntly anyone who was interest was told to basically f*** off.) * - In Scotland, anyway. But it was their 26th safest seat in the country.

Andy Abraham gives up on music career
No - 40: There were 43 countries in the Contest this year. You can't vote for yourselves, so that puts it down to 42. Ireland and San Marino gave us points (8 and 6 respectively), so that puts it down to 40. No-one else voted for us, and I have to agree with them.

I like it as well - and I'd rather that be No1 than "I Kissed A Girl". :puke2: (Thought - I've had sex with a girl. If I do a song about it, can I make the Top 5?)

Beijing shrouded in smog two weeks before China's Olympic
Well, they had Osaka - but they were the first to go. Apparently, Beijing's bid was outshone technically by the Parisian and Torontonian bids. (Mind you, Doha's big for 2016 was better than Rio's, yet the Brazilian city went through.) Also, all those protests about their treatment of Tibet - I said that was gonna happen in 2001, when they were awarded the Games.
-
Beijing 08
Because Samaranch wanted China to have them - why else would they win over Paris and Toronto, whose bids were apparently superior to Beijing's. Notice how, in 2001, Beijing were awarded the games in the same meeting which saw Samaranch's successor being announced.

Alicia Keys and Jack White to sing Bond theme
Thank God this doesn't have any of the "it should be a British act" sh!t that I've read elsewhere, as if it's set in stone that it should be a British act doing it 'cos James Bond's from Britain. The last British act to do so was Duran Duran in 1985 (23 years ago). I know Shirley Manson from Garbage is from Edinburgh, but the others come from Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin - therefore, they don't count.
