Because more people know English across Europe than other languages. And notice how the language rule was dropped the year after televoting was introduced Europe-wide? I agree - it's better to spend £20 and get both singles and albums in one, rather than (say) £15 on one for the singles and £13 for one with albums. (I'm just using those two figures as a guess, especially since there'd be more singles than albums.)

Well, iirc, it died in 2004. Hung Up was (imo) one of 2005's best songs. It never appeared on a Now CD, so I can't see why it would change now. Mind you, I never thought Christina Aguilera or Avril Lavigne would appear on one…

It wouldn't surprise me if it climbs back to No1 - I seem to remember one of them (possibly the first one of the year) was knocked off No1, only to climb back up and stay at No1 for seven weeks.
