Does it matter if the pound reaches 1 to 1 with the Euro?
And what's to say that the Queen won't be the British design for the coins? (Whilst the notes are the same, the obverse side of the coins have a different design in each country.) You should see some of the notes from Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Double post.

Ban XF sales from the Xmas chart
Yup, there are - the biggest one being Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing. Apparently more important than the pound being almost equal in value to the Euro.

Lost || Season 5
Seeing as he only appeared in one episode since he died, I'm doubting that's going to happen.

Sports Personality of the year
Especially when you consider that the Scottish sports personality of the year - which, I believe, is voted for by Scotland - went to Dario Franchitti. He's a racing driver who, by the looks of his Wikipedia page, only competes in American races.

Bands to Spilt
<pedant> How does a band spilt? </pedant> And that will be different from last year's GH album how?

Breaking News: EUK to be wound down
That's because they're using the taxpayers (i.e. mine and anyone else who works) to shore up banks. Meaning we know either completely or partially own (I think) six banks/building societies. How nice of us. (And yet, if anyone who has a mortgage with any of them will still have their house taken away from them by a company they own if they don't keep up repayments on said mortgage.) And to _J_ (I think that's your name) - the VAT won't go up next year. It's going back to its pre-November rate in January 2010.

Record of the Year 2008 Results
It must have been - 4 Minutes second? I don't know anyone who likes that song. Also, iirc, no-one complained about the nominations of "Never Ever" or "Angels" in 98's edition, despite both being released in 97.

Sports Personality of the year
Points respectfully taken. But there were several other awards that year that he (Beckham) didn't win. And it's quite possible that Owen would have won it if it wasn't for that free-kick, due to that hat-trick.

Best chart week for Xmas songs?
The chart of December 21st will be the one with the Christmas songs. Simply because December 28th's chart will have a "Greatest Hits of 2008" feel to it, with people getting new iPods downloading their favourite songs from the previous 12 months to put on them.

Life without Woolies
You should see Preston's - not so much a tornado, more military ordinance. Edit - Obviously, they're not selling ordinance there.

Manchester Congestion Charge
If I was a Manc, I'd be voting no. Jo's family have, and she's the only one that doesn't live in Manchester.

Sports Personality of the year
At least they'll be more deserving than 2001's winner - David Beckham, who only got it 'cos he scored the goal that meant England drew qualified for the 2002 World Cup (btw, they didn't even win the game - against the then not-so-good Greece, they could only manage a 2-2 draw).

50% jury vote to return in 2009
That's more than I can claim. I can barely remember that it was called "Even If".

Top 75 Singles / Albums + Compilation Chart
Remember the 23rd December 2007 chart? A quarter of the Top 40 (literally) was taken up by Christmas songs. It wouldn't surprise me if we have a repeat of that on the 21st December 2008 chart.

Life without Woolies
On the Woolies website: "Our site is currently undergoing essential maintenance." Considering that they probably won't be around at the end of next month, it must be really essential.

Is Britain too health and safety obsessed ?
It's not a new thing: in the mid-90s, there were several times when we still had to go into school, despite there being at least 2in of snow on the ground (which, growing up in Scotland, would be a regular occurance). However, in 2003, hundreds of schools closed because of 1in of snow.

7 Digital chart - tracks
It's like the early days of the charts again (there would be some weeks - largely around Christmas - when they didn't produce a chart, so the previous week's chart was repeated).
-
Sports Personality of the year
There's one way to settle whether a F1 driver is any good - have the same rules as in the A1 Grand Prix: everyone has the same design for the cars, therefore meaning no one team (or countries, as they are in A1GP) can have a better car than the others, therefore relying on the driver's skill.

The Record Of The Year 2008
Yikes - I don't like any of the top three. And to those who are having a go at people voted for Nickelback - not everyone has the same tastes as you. Imagine how boring a world it would be if it was full of everything only you liked.

Top 75 Singles / Albums + Compilation Chart
iTunes isn't the only place that has digital downloads. There's also 7 Digital as well - and they do have it. ;)

The Record Of The Year 2008
I think I should re-edit the bit that goes under my username to Kate Perry - it obviously wasn't Katy Perry that likes snogging girls.

Life without Woolies
No, it's not - I didn't notice *anything* in our Woolies that was 50% off: everything was either 10% of 20% off. Unless they're going to be reducing the stuff to 50% before Christmas - in which case, all hell will be unleashed.
