Hello people!
Just thought I'd pop in after many years' absence to say, 85% Proof Deluxe edition arrived yesterday and I'm just listening to it for the first time. I'm not quite through yet (I'm on Thank You right now) but I think MUSICALLY and VOCALLY it's possibly my favourite album of Will's. So I'm quite happy. When I first heard Love Revolution - and that was only after I sought it out because someone at Butlins Minehead (!) back in March mentioned to me that he's got a new single coming out - I was disappointed, because it's so NOT up my street, it's got no proper melody. I still don't like it much.
But the rest of the album (I'm on "Dare" now)...
Brave Man - love it!
Promise Me - love it.
Gold - love it, those three immediately stand out.
But I'm yet to hear anything I don't like (apart from Love Revolution).
Most of the arrangements are very, very good. There's some lovely piano bits and some beautiful, understated strings. The drums in Brave Man are particularly good. Nice bell-like effects in You Keep On Loving Me.
But what can I say about the vocals? I think vocally it really is Will's best album. And it's ALL there. He actually sings some low notes I can't reach (Where Are You Tonight). I've always loved the tone of Will's voice in his mid to lower range. Shivers!
Anyway, I think I'm going to enjoy this album for many, many hours.

Yep - and I see his doppelganger is just above him :rolleyes:I see no resemblance whatsoever, looks wise & definitely not vocally. The meaning of doppelganger is "ghost" an apparition of a living person..... and that's all he'll ever be. A pale imitation of the real thing.
That's not the best definition (I googled it, too -_-). I think the second part for the Wikipedia definition is better:
Wikipedia
In fiction, folklore, and popular culture, a doppelgänger ( pronunciation (help·info)) is a tangible double of a living person that typically represents evil. In the vernacular, the word doppelgänger has come to refer (as in German) to any double or look-alike of a person.
In any case, I don't see any resemblance either, nor do I see that Olly Murs is any way trying to imitate Will. He's not a pale imitation of Will, he's just Olly. The two just happened to be at the same showbiz do.

Olly could have gone, if they'd left it to the public! :o
And I find it fascinating how for a couple of weeks after Danyl was in the bottom 2, the fans rallied to catapult him to #1, only to lose interest again thereafter.
Also the semi-final week is fascinating
Week 9Joe McElderry 42.2%
Olly Murs 19.6%
Stacey Solomon 19.4%
Danyl Johnson 18.8%
Pretty much any combination of the bottom 3 could have been in the final. So it might have been Danyl and Stacey or even an all-male line up might have been the case if there'd just been just a very little more or less voting enthusiasm in the different camps.
Interestingly, from when Joe topped the poll for the first time, he never looked back, just increased his lead over the rest of them each week. :)

It's funny, this is the first Will Young album I haven't bought (I haven't even heard the other bonus track, what's that called again?), but I still care very much about its chart positions and sales. It's performed so much better than I've expected and The Hits will have sold platinum by the end of this week.

Ugh, Stacey going tonight means we'll likely never hear her take on "The Climb". :( I don't think the versions by the runners-up have ever leaked. I'm sure it'd have been nothing amazing, but I'd have liked to hear it at least.
In Pop Idol, they weren't only leaked, they were blatantly put on the runner-up's debut single as b-sides. :arrr:
Joe's version is lovely, imo. :)

The biggest audiance ever didn't help the finalists group song compared to last year cos this years x factor was crap.
Hero is a much better song than You Are Not Alone, with several of the singers (Ruth, Rachael, Alexandra, Laura and Austin) sounding very good on it. On this year's single, only Lucie, Jamie and Joe stand out in a good way, the rest are bland, imo.
Back on topic, one thing's for sure: Joe will never beat the 1.1m+ physical sales (at £3.99 a go) that Will Young achieved with his debut, and that wasn't even at Christmas time. ;)
But I quite like The Climb and love Joe's voice, I'll be buying it (probably downloading tonight plus pre-order the CD from Amazon), and I'd say he'll sell around 412,750 this week.

Thanks for the ticket sales info Sunday. Just knew there was no need to fret.
Glad to read you had a brilliant night munchkin. Don't know how he manages it but he does keep getting better & better.
Looks like most of the buzzjack crew will be at Birmingham. :yahoo:
And, apparently, he did ...... the next night. How very dare he :lol:Hehe, I was there, on the 22nd. Actually, I turned up on the Saturday, too, convinced that my ticket was for that night!   DOH! But he really was fabulous. :yahoo: Loved it. And the sound at the Hammersmith Apollo was awesome, I've only ever had good experiences there. :)
It's great to see that he's only had good reviews so far, incl. the London gigs. He deserves that.

I'm not disappointed, not my place to be I don't think, it's up to Will what he does, but I don't have to like everything because it's Will and quite honestly,I'm not liking this at the moment. However, I'll wait and see what the finished product is like, but I'm far more interested in hearing the song, I wish the OS would put a some of that up.
I completely agree.
Cannot wait to hear the song, I really liked the snippet on Popjustice. :D
Will scores his 4th number 1 album.
