  1. Oh, only just read about I Won't Give Up being the 3rd single! :o So, I can honestly say, I heard it on Buzzjack first!
  2. What would your ideal Will Young double album look like, created with the following rules a) no more than 28 tracks altogether B) up to 7 tracks from each album c) up to 4 original b-sides (so no Hey Ya in this category) d) up to 2 covers he's already done e) up to 2 covers you would like to hear from Will I now have to go away and think about this one. ;)

The poll was supposed to finish on the 31st of December, so I'm assuming it's all over?
  4. the thing is, with this album, some serious fights could break out, since it's just sooo good! I wouldn't know where to start in terms of booting any of the songs off, as none of them deserve to go first, imo. Well, maybe one, but for second I really wouldn't know. Off topic: I was going to go out today to enjoy the dry, sunny weather, but now it's getting dark.
  5. Doesn't matter, does it? I've only read the first few names on the first list on here, so I'll hopefully come up with some new ones. Hm. 1. Will Young - yeah, I know , but I think apart from being a great singer he's also hilarious! 2. Jack Black - again, very funny bloke, and a musician, too, there'll be a few ;) 3. Robin Williams - more genius comedy 4. Daniel Bedingfield 5. Barbra Streisand 6. Jamie Foxx 7. Jane Horrocks - genius comedienne and talented singer to boot! (Anyone detecting a theme? ;)) 8. Will Smith 9. Denzel Washington 10. Patrick Dempsey 11. Julia Roberts 12. Tamsin Greig 13. Liza Minelli 14. Toni, i.e. Myself - And before anyone protests, I have one name for you: Chantelle! Basically, is most of my favourite singers/actors and comedians. :) Might as well have some fun. And I'd provide plenty of musical instruments.
  6. We could do a separate poll for "best also-rans" with the likes of Liberty X in it. In this poll I voted - perhaps predictably  - for Will Young, for all the reasons mentioned in this thread plus for being a great, creative singer with a unique voice, but also because he's had the highest number of successful studio albums, apart from Girls Aloud, although Will still trounces GA in overall sales, I think. Maybe GA's current album could become their first million seller? As for second best, I would have to say Leona because she has an amazing voice. But I haven't bought her first album. I'm waiting for her next to see what she and those who are working with her are made of. I kind of liked Alex Parks on FA, but found her otherwise boring. Isn't she the only talent show winner of the noughties who didn't have a no. 1 single?
  7. Leona didn't need to say anything, she already knew long before she won the X Factor that she'd be working with all the hippest songwriters and producers on new material as Simon Cowell was already working on that and using his influence etc. Alexandra is much more "new, undiscovered" talent - well, apart from her X Factor 2005 audition  - than Leona ever was. I think Alex is more suited for uptempo stuff. She showed that on the X-Factor. Hope she gets some decent material. Although I think she can also pack in the soul into a big ballad. I also think comparisons with Leona are a bit unfair. Firstly, their voices are completely different. Alex has a richer tone in my opinion, though I adore Leona's whistle range. Alex's diction is much better ;) which is strange since Leona has far more experience. I really hope that Alex won't be promoted as "Leona Mark II". It won't work and would be really unfair to both ladies. P.S. Having heard "Hallelujah" - and not just Alexandra's version - about 50 times in the last month, I'm totally bored with the song. :manson:

That's exactly what I was thinking. :( :manson: Highway (-street) robbery!
  9. I agree with you. Although I think Will might still outsell him. ;) I think Christmas is the biggest time for selling classical/classic-pop music. Rhydian will struggle to reach 2x platinum.

Never saw this until it was too late, but it's good to see that Will has won.

That bit in the Christmas Carol (especially the Muppet version, which is my favourite) always makes me blub. So, I'm joining in with Tiny Tim, too, thanks Chrysalis!   :friends:

Yay, excellent news about LIG, it's sold platinum now. I hope that eventually it sells 500k.

Same to you guys. I'm off tomorrow (well, today, really!), to Germany. Have a good one, everyone! :D :yahoo: I love the little Santa smilies that Buzzjack have at the moment. Shame they'll all morph back. Anyway, peace and love to all!

Thanks for that, munchkin! Now there's a review that sounds more like it's speaking about the same concert as the one I went to! :)

How long did it take for Will Young's Friday's Child (2003) to reach the magic 1m?

Anyone any idea where Will Young's album is, please? Thanks. :)

Thanks for the info so far. No real surprises so far. I expect Geraldine might climb.
  21. It is actually the most expensive cup I've ever bought. That includes a mug I bought for my father (20 years ago?) which was engraved with his name! For me, a cup or mug are there to be used, so I shall continue to scald Will's face with steaming hot tea (no wonder he looks shocked!). Off to make another cuppa. :naughty:

Actually, just realised, I WAS there for the penultimate concert, but the ES review mentions Will asking about X-Factor winner, so they must be talking about the last night. Maybe the audience was completely different on the last night - though I doubt it! ;) Thinking back, though, to the album launch concert, that audience really was dominated by 45+ year-old women, which possibly reflects the makeup of his keenest and most devoted fans, especially those registered on the O/S and Devoted.
  23. I'm going to Alan Titchmarsh tonight! :yahoo: And I'm drinking my cup of tea from my Will Young tour cup. :D
  24. Yes, great news. :D I'm seriously considering renewing my TV licence  and getting my old telly set (which is currently stored at a friend's house) back! As for Alexandra, maybe she can borrow some of Will's rescue remedy! Seriously, though, I'm very happy for her, too, good girl!

Isn't the album at #31 this week? Which is not bad, considering it hasn't been reduced in many places. Hope we get some sales info. :)
