Premier League / Football League Thread 2011-12
I just saw this on Twitter, Evra says he said a certain word 'atleast 10 times' and 'undoubtedly there are cameras everywhere that will have picked it up'. He waited until speaking to French TV to reveal this and said the ref was made aware at the end of the game. The FA have confirmed they are investigating an incident that was reported to referee Marriner at the end of the game. Hmm. Surely if it was in English cameras or microphones somewhere will have picked it up by now, if Suarez did say this 10 times, it really shouldn't be difficult to prove. It must be unlikely it was in English though given Suarez barely strings a sentence together, perhaps Evra is misunderstood what he thought he heard if Suarez was speaking Spanish. Somebody has posted 'evidence' on Twitter that shows Suarez and Evra mouthing off at each other but if that's the only evidence, then definitely good luck trying to prove what was said!

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
Hooray for Mr Know It All, such an addictive track  Not really keen on Lightning at all, but fully expecting number 1 and a car crash of an X Factor performance, last year vocally wasn't great, and unless I'm mistaken doesn't the tall, good looking model one (Shiva?) Have some solo vocals on this? Because if so, oh dear.

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
This is exactly what I said, surely you release the BEST single choice not necessarily the best song, but single choice and there is no way in hell that Run For Your Life is the best single choice from there, it's one I would immediately rank as album track if hearing all those tracks at the same time, its clear the fact that it's Barlow penned, elevated it to first single choice and they obviously hoped his name would sell it, it hasn't and its got his post XF career off to a rocky start, with people unwilling to buy into the album on the back of RFYL. Either of Starlight/Stars & Lovers would have been better. It seems Starlight IS next, let's just hope its not too late because it is a very good album, particularly from the X Factor and it would be a great shame if this struggles to sell.

Premier League / Football League Thread 2011-12
I was listening to Five Live and not one of the commentators even suggested Charlie Adam dived, they were only going on about how it was lucky Ferdinand didn't get a second yellow card. Meanwhile Evra going down was mocked loudly 'Get up son!' and 'Goodness me, he's obviously broken his back and both legs there' with the way he was rolling around. Evra easily the worst culprit for play acting in this game. They were raving about Suarez but looking at my Twitter timeline at the same time, it's obvious he rubs people up the wrong way. As for my team today, well we ended an unwelcome club record when we got our first clean sheet in 24 league games :w00t: :w00t: Exciting stuff. We're still mediocre though, think our 'glory' days are behind us. :( Long hard slog this season, but if the Hoops sell Hooper in January to Newcastle/QPR we might get a tidy sell on bonus  Reading got a late winner today :o blimey, eat your heart out Fergie

Cher Lloyd feat. Mike Posner - With Ur Love
I really like this too, haven't heard it on the radio, just seen on TV, I too don't get the need for the Mike Posner feature but it seem to be something everyone is doing these days, I just don't think he adds anything. My only negative is I cannot STAND the way it starts - Da da da dum dum du dum dum. It sets my teeth on edge  Otherwise I really like it and this should easily sell better than Swagger Jagger because it's nowhere near as polarising.

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
The 80k figure is just something someone who claimed to be 'in the know' over on Digital Spy posted he was 'predicted' to sell (and chart at 3 for some reason, not sure what could chart between Matt and Noel with sales of 80K?) I just commented on it because people there were commenting what a flop figure it was which surprised me. For an X Factor winner, it's nowhere near stellar but I'm not sure how it can be a 'flop' either. The poster never came back so have no idea whether that was based on some solid info, which it may have been or he was just guessing and plucked a figure out of thin air. In all honesty I have no idea how it's going to sell, just that pre orders have been good but I'm not taking that for granted because I'm sure we remember those 'Joe has the most pre sales of any male winner' last year comments from Amazon and that didn't exactly lead to stellar signs so I'm keeping an open mind. Amazon have gone for Noel Gallagher as the £3.99 mp3 of the week so he won't get a boost there, perhaps in the supermarkets if they all have cheaper prices. There are 90 second samples on itunes that give a decent indication of the album, there's some live tracks on Youtube or alternatively I'm sure Spotify will have it up on Monday. Oh my giddy aunt at the acoustics   As lovely as his XF performances were they surely can't compare to this, so how annoying for those of you with the wrong CD!! What a pain!

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
Just seen your post and put it on to check...although Itunes refuses to recognise the CD, it is the acoustic tracks I have, and they are absolutely bloody STUNNING. 'For You'    Will be back later with a better and full review of both CDs :D

Just on Starlight for now and I'm really sorry but WHAT THE HECK WERE THE LABEL THINKING?!?! It SCREAMS single, it actually builds for a start instead of just plodding along at a pedestrian pace like RFYL. It's so uplifting and as a SINGLE, is a billion times a better effort, for one it's instant, has more anthemic qualities and whilst I wouldn't go as far as saying it would have been number 1 as I tend to think no matter what he released, he still would have lost out to the tracks that are above him but I feel it would have had a much better impact, for a start, he would have SLAYED the X factor performance as it's much more kick ass, there's not a lot he can do with the Barlow track, it's just 'nice', and it certainly would be better as an incentive for people to buy into the album than RFYL is. I'm really quite annoyed about this now. All For Nothing is not a favourite, but it's a great vocal

Oh HMV   You never let me down with pre orders! Deluxe album is here :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: Will try to take a listen before football at 12.45! I love the little album booklet

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
I love the guy who seemingly has just whipped figures out of his arse saying 'it's predicted to chart at no.3 with sales of 80k' Er? Come again? How could you possibly know that? And what on EARTH are they expecting to chart between Matt and Noel to end up at 3 on sales of 80k?! Have they seen this week's sales? Clearly someone with NO idea how the charts work. If he flops in at 2 with sales of 80K I'd be delighted. Not sure he can get that much though on the back of a poorly performing single, I've got to be honest and say if I wasn't internet aware to check out album samples, I wouldn't exactly be enthused to buy the album based on RFYL :( so think he may struggle until if/when Starlight gets some airplay and encourages some hesitant on the fencers who perhaps voted last year but are not enamored with RFYL, to go ahead and purchase the album. Sometimes 2nd singles can have a MASSIVE impact, James Morrison's last album Songs For You Truths For Me, was performing somewhat mediocrely in terms of album sales based on lead single You Make It Real. Then Broken Strings was released and the album sales took off massively. This is why singles remain important as they work as as 'ambassadors' for the album to encourage people to think, 'I like 2/3 of his songs, I think I'll like the album' or 'I LOVE this song, I need to see what the album is like' :)

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
I guess there's no point trying to argue facts with them is there really, looking at their posts they seem to be once a year X Factor fans, don't post in any other music threads or seem to have any other real interest in music, so therefore their idea of success or failure in the music industry is somewhat skewed and they won't measure his sales against CURRENT sales and see how all but the biggest acts are struggling to sell in any real large numbers, they'll just whack out the sales figures of previous X Factor acts which have NO relevance to today's dire albums situation, oh well let them continue to be deluded

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
Do the anti Matt-ites seriously consider that if he sells 80K first week that would be a flop?!   Do these lovely people not realise the music industry has changed a lot, it's just not PRACTICAL to pluck figures from past X Factor winners and say OMG he's not selling as well as *insert previous X Factor artist* here because the industry has changed. Whilst singles sales are increasing, album sales as a general rule have been decreasing. The year Leona sold phenomenally with Spirit was a great year for album sales in general and she of course was supported by a MEGA successful single. But even going back just to last year when Joe released wouldn't be a fair comparison. This quote from Music Week illustrates where we are with album sales: I've taken this week's Music Week report to illustrate the decline in sales year on year, using this week's sales and finding the corresponding sales to this week 1 year ago, 2 year ago etc. I've used this week because it's the first week of quarter 4 sales. Courtesy of our sales vault here: 2004 - Total albums sold - 2,867,089 2005 - Total albums sold - 2,458,073 2006 - Total albums sold - 2,342, 402 2007 - Total albums sold - 2,010,968 2008 - Total albums sold - 2,096,360 2009 - Total albums sold - 1,818,955 2010 - Total albums sold - 1,756,755 2011 - Total albums sold - 1,649,403 If that doesn't illustrate how sharply the albums market has declined, I don't know what else will! It is NOT feasible to compare sales of previous winners, for a start Leona released on 12th November, a lot further into the lucrative quarter 4 than Matt is doing and she was in a much healthier climate. To compare the total sales of that week Spirit was released, with future years: 2007 Week of Spirit released - Total albums sold - 3,175,944 2008 - Same week - Total albums sold - 2,621,648 2009 - Same week - Total albums sold - 2,915,593 (Buoyed by JLS/Robbie Williams, these were the biggest weekly sales in 45 weeks) 2010 - Same week - Total albums sold - 2,325,778 (Susan Boyle album) Which demonstrates how even one of the traditionally big album weeks has dropped from over 3 million in 2007 to just 2.3 in the same week in 2010. So all of that is a really long winded but evidence strewn way to say PEOPLE DON'T BUY AS MANY ALBUMS AS THEY USED TO. Given these are the sales for number 1s recently in the current climate: James Morrison 62, 181 Kasabian 94,088 Ed Sheeran 102,350 Example 56224 Red Hot Chilli Peppers 71858 Will Young 65773 Nero 30640 Amy Winehouse 43,726 Then all things considered I think Matt can be justifiably chuffed if he manages to sell 80k next week!! PS Yes I really do have nothing better to do on a Friday night then surf the Buzzjack Sales Archive but I like to have evidence to back up my arguments :D and if anyone wants to use said figures for illustrative purposes to anyone, feel free, I'm done with the DS anti Mattites unless I see something that really riles me! PPS - There is no excuse for the single not doing well as single sales are on the rise week on week, year on year, so I can't defend that just curse Mr Barlow

Olly Murs - In Case You Didn't Know // 2nd Album
I never really fancied him before but I'm starting to find him attractive now! Great fun video and great fun song, sure to be a huge hit. Just pre ordered myself a signed copy of the album from Play.com :D

Midweeks
 He's doing amazingly and as from pretty much next week when the big album onslaught of releases really gets going, he'll be doing well to remain bouyant against so many releases, not sure why anyone would think he would get a massive boost from Strictly, most people will not have heard 'Come On' until that moment and as excellent as the performance was, I don't think too many people rush out and buy on the strength of one performance, if it was already getting airplay then it might have got higher, as it is it's performing brilliantly.

Will guest on Jo Whiley show - sky Arts
I thought that would be the case when you said Manics were on the same day as Will and they have music from the 'headline act' that Manics were likely to be the headline act and it looks like a bit of new music too, Oh Land are Katy Perry's tour support act, so I'll be seeing them next week

Rebecca Ferguson - Heaven
Definitely intrigued to see what her single and album is like, Gordon Smart in The Sun had the single cover in his column and the comment about how Cher and 1 Direction have had number ones and Matt's album is launching "but from what I've heard, her album is the best of the lot" Interesting....

Will guest on Jo Whiley show - sky Arts
http://www.skyarts.co.uk/music/article/the...ley-music-show/ :) Starts the 21st, and it looks like the half hour intimate set is a separate prgramme the following Thursday from reading that? Says it from the headline act each week, little strange Noel isn't the headline act for that week's show? I suspect if Manic Street Preachers are the same episode as Will they are likely to be that week's 'headline act'? and Will is only doing the discussion perhaps?

Midweeks
Me too  After one complete play of the album, sitting in the garden in the summer this was the one that I immediately wanted to go back to. It's my mum's favourite as well, but she does only tend to like upbeat songs as she finds ballads boring as a general rule. On hearing Olly's new song for the first time she said 'It's not as good as Come On' Hopefully it will get played on the radio so people will become familiar with it. Not holding out too much hope for Heart who still refer to 'Jealousy' as Will's 'new' song though. Jealousy still holding up superbly and somewhat surprisingly well!

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
I'm no expert but I'm taking the fact that Amazon think it is some kind of chart battle and not the 'Matt will be lucky to make top 10' feeling demonstrated erm elsewhere :P and have felt the need to comment on said chart battle, that that suggests that BOTH artists will sell well. I would say I'm cautiously optimistic about next week now. There's no shame in being beaten by Noel Gallagher, one of half of one of the best selling British bands in history, I would wager he was the most popular of the brothers too, the tracks he featured on tended to do very well and his album has been highly anticipated for some time. To be anywhere near him in pre orders is definitely a compliment to Matt. Re our board layout here, it can take some getting used to, people here LOVE their big signatures, (the pictures at the bottom of the text) but if it's not for you, you can select 'edit profile' scroll down to 'options', select 'board settings' and there's a few questions about whether you want to view signatures, gifs in other people's posts. Just select 'no' :) I see a lot of you on DS are considering joining here, please do, you may have to settle for just this thread and general music forum to chat Matt for the time being though as the artist forums have got smaller and smaller and culled over time to only the busiest forums, I'm not sure how you go about requesting new forums? There used to be a request thread but it closed so I think we're sticking with what we've got, and only the really active forums are remaining. Even the Leona one was under threat recently. Perhaps over time demand may warrant one :)

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
My 'it's on its way email' for the deluxe from HMV has arrived! :w00t: Sad people definitely, I mean 'flop watch?!', I 've never understood the mentality of the types of DS posters who just seem to be overly negative about EVERYTHING, the TV discussions are full of people watching shows JUST to moan about them? Then there's the music forums which just turns into slanging matches about who is more successful, one of those threads started to criticise Matt somehow descended into an all out fan war about whether JLS or Alexandra Burke was most successful? (What's with the large amount of Alex fans slating Matt over there btw? have I missed something?) I just tend to think people who spend their time being negative about someone (the flop watchers  ) must have rather sad lives, atleast you guys, Jamak and co who are obsessed with Matt in the right way are expending your energies positively. I've never got the utter glee some people have over there about 'flopping' artists, X Factor acts in particular get it in the neck, even Leona! I agree that people here are much more tolerable, I find it much friendlier, I do lurk and post occasionally on the Matt AT on DS and I think a lot of you guys are new to 'following' an artist from the posts I've read and are not so clued up on things like Itunes, how promo works etc, is that right? You will find BJ incredibly knowledgeable in that respect, you will learn a lot from knowledgeable chart savvy posters and you will also find the itunes chart dissected to within an inch of it's life  It will definitely be the place to be to follow Matt's album progress next week. Forums here tend to be earnt on merit I think, and like T Boy says they have to be kept very busy to survive. New forums tend to have be to voted for by a large majority I think and many have fallen by the wayside over the years. I see Amazon have taken the very unusual step of commenting on pre order sales to announce they believe Noel will beat Matt next week. I think this is actually a good thing, normally the head honchos at retail only comment when big sales are expected or to comment on XF winners singles sales and stuff. Although they say they believe Noel will beat Matt (I do too) it's definitely positive that they believe this is a big chart battle and makes me believe BOTH albums are going to sell well next week. He quotes that "Matt Cardle's album has been pre-ordering very well" and Noel has 13% more pre orders". When you factor in the other outlets, I think Noel is clearly going to outsell Matt but Matt's sales will be nothing to be sniffed at either, Noel will sell fantastically on the likes of itunes and as the Amazon mp3 of the week £3.99 is a massive boost but Matt should garner a lot from supermarket sales, and I'm predicting a very healthy total.

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
Nice to see a few Matt fans joining in from DS :) Welcome! Be sure to look around the site, lots of different forums that may interest you :) I see it has got very 'batten down the hatches' over there hasn't it, but aside from appreciation threads I would say 70% of discussion there is people criticising artists so don't take it too much to heart! I think our release schedule in the chart forum here lists 'Starlight' as the second single here too, and they only normally post information when it's confirmed by a source or listed by retail outlets I think. From what I've heard I think Stars and Lovers would have been better with it's bouncier sing along chorus, the 'oh, oh' bits reminds me of The Killers, but think Starlight is single material too and is definitely better than Run For Your Life, my only worry is it getting swallowed up by other releases and whether radio will be reluctant to support him. Album sales this week are very poor, possibly going to be lower than lasts weeks 36k winning total, unless both Noel and Matt sell in decent numbers and pre orders suggest they might, then neither are going to need big numbers to chart top 2, put it this way if he cannot achieve atleast number 2 next week with sales as low as they are across board at the moment, then I really will fear for him. I think he'll do alright next week, the challenge will be to stop the album plummeting as the big guns really start to appear over the coming weeks, the problem with RFYL clearly not connecting very well with the public, is that its difficult for the album to sell off the back of it, to chart only top 5 with an X Factor performance IS poor, and he needs to show people the quality of the album, he needs to perform the album tracks on things like Alan Carr, the Album Chart Show is a good showcase but I think its on late at night? I'm really quite annoyed they went with RFYL, they clearly thought it being a Barlow track would sell itself but while Gary's Take That hits speak for themselves, his song writing for others has varied wildly. It's nowhere near the most commercial track on the album, so why did they go for it? It's poor performance is now seriously hindering him

Olly Murs - In Case You Didn't Know // 2nd Album
Oh wow he wasn't kidding when he said that it was very different in sound to Heart Skips A Beat, it's very sixties, and very different to anything else in the charts at the minute, will be interesting to see how it does, it's pretty catchy on first listen.

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
I think the Heartbeat video came out first, I seem to vividly recall seeing it for the first time on a Channel 4 show , it might well have been Popworld. I remember when Heartbeat/Tragedy CLIMBED to number 1, I think it was just after Christmas, back then I was an avid chart fan and listened to the chart every week, having NO IDEA what the number 1 was until the second it was played, the week it climbed which was very exciting, as it wasn't too common, the dj read out all these clues about how many dropped songs, how many climbers and I remember working out as songs were played 'OMG that means Steps are number 1!' They only ever had two didn't they? That and 'Stomp' which I remember everyone at the time saying is SO different for Steps! When really now looking back isn't that different at all! I thought Stereo Heart had a suspiciously slow start, that's much more like it, everyone I know loves it, what were the peaks for Clothes Off and Cupid's Chokehold? I can't remember

Kelly Clarkson - Stronger
This just clicked with me too, it's such a gorgeous song, I really love it!
