Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
My 'it's on its way email' for the deluxe from HMV has arrived! :w00t: Sad people definitely, I mean 'flop watch?!', I 've never understood the mentality of the types of DS posters who just seem to be overly negative about EVERYTHING, the TV discussions are full of people watching shows JUST to moan about them? :blink: Then there's the music forums which just turns into slanging matches about who is more successful, one of those threads started to criticise Matt somehow descended into an all out fan war about whether JLS or Alexandra Burke was most successful? (What's with the large amount of Alex fans slating Matt over there btw? have I missed something?) I just tend to think people who spend their time being negative about someone (the flop watchers :lol: ) must have rather sad lives, atleast you guys, Jamak and co who are obsessed with Matt in the right way are expending your energies positively. I've never got the utter glee some people have over there about 'flopping' artists, X Factor acts in particular get it in the neck, even Leona! I agree that people here are much more tolerable, I find it much friendlier, I do lurk and post occasionally on the Matt AT on DS and I think a lot of you guys are new to 'following' an artist from the posts I've read and are not so clued up on things like Itunes, how promo works etc, is that right? You will find BJ incredibly knowledgeable in that respect, you will learn a lot from knowledgeable chart savvy posters and you will also find the itunes chart dissected to within an inch of it's life :lol: It will definitely be the place to be to follow Matt's album progress next week. Forums here tend to be earnt on merit I think, and like T Boy says they have to be kept very busy to survive. New forums tend to have be to voted for by a large majority I think and many have fallen by the wayside over the years. I see Amazon have taken the very unusual step of commenting on pre order sales to announce they believe Noel will beat Matt next week. I think this is actually a good thing, normally the head honchos at retail only comment when big sales are expected or to comment on XF winners singles sales and stuff. Although they say they believe Noel will beat Matt (I do too) it's definitely positive that they believe this is a big chart battle and makes me believe BOTH albums are going to sell well next week. He quotes that "Matt Cardle's album has been pre-ordering very well" and Noel has 13% more pre orders". When you factor in the other outlets, I think Noel is clearly going to outsell Matt but Matt's sales will be nothing to be sniffed at either, Noel will sell fantastically on the likes of itunes and as the Amazon mp3 of the week £3.99 is a massive boost but Matt should garner a lot from supermarket sales, and I'm predicting a very healthy total.

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
Nice to see a few Matt fans joining in from DS :) Welcome! Be sure to look around the site, lots of different forums that may interest you :) I see it has got very 'batten down the hatches' over there hasn't it, but aside from appreciation threads I would say 70% of discussion there is people criticising artists so don't take it too much to heart! I think our release schedule in the chart forum here lists 'Starlight' as the second single here too, and they only normally post information when it's confirmed by a source or listed by retail outlets I think. From what I've heard I think Stars and Lovers would have been better with it's bouncier sing along chorus, the 'oh, oh' bits reminds me of The Killers, but think Starlight is single material too and is definitely better than Run For Your Life, my only worry is it getting swallowed up by other releases and whether radio will be reluctant to support him. Album sales this week are very poor, possibly going to be lower than lasts weeks 36k winning total, unless both Noel and Matt sell in decent numbers and pre orders suggest they might, then neither are going to need big numbers to chart top 2, put it this way if he cannot achieve atleast number 2 next week with sales as low as they are across board at the moment, then I really will fear for him. I think he'll do alright next week, the challenge will be to stop the album plummeting as the big guns really start to appear over the coming weeks, the problem with RFYL clearly not connecting very well with the public, is that its difficult for the album to sell off the back of it, to chart only top 5 with an X Factor performance IS poor, and he needs to show people the quality of the album, he needs to perform the album tracks on things like Alan Carr, the Album Chart Show is a good showcase but I think its on late at night? I'm really quite annoyed they went with RFYL, they clearly thought it being a Barlow track would sell itself but while Gary's Take That hits speak for themselves, his song writing for others has varied wildly. It's nowhere near the most commercial track on the album, so why did they go for it? It's poor performance is now seriously hindering him

Sunday Chart Predictions
I have mine on too :( Though I'm quite sure he will not do as badly as the 'struggling to make 100k overall' total the doom mongers are predicting. I'm still quite optimistic that he can do say 70k first week? I know that seems crazy based on the struggle the single is having but I think he has a lot of fans who will be 'waiting for the album', plus I'm sure I saw a tweet a while back before we got to hear any of the tracks in the summer, who posted how good the songs were and that 'pre orders' for the album were good from an industry/journo type but I might well be making that up in my head and the album will indeed also flop on it's arse. Really hope not though for his sake :(

Sunday Chart Predictions
Yeah, either way it won't make much difference, I can see it charting at about 6 or 7 now which is catastrophic to X Factor fans used to seeing winners sell highly and is definitely under performing. Slightly amused how happy this makes people, over on the lovely Digital Spy forums, there a couple of posters on 'flop watch'. :lol:

Olly Murs - In Case You Didn't Know // 2nd Album
Oh wow he wasn't kidding when he said that it was very different in sound to Heart Skips A Beat, it's very sixties, and very different to anything else in the charts at the minute, will be interesting to see how it does, it's pretty catchy on first listen.

Sunday Chart Predictions
Ahh yeah I just realised neither of the tracks are anywhere near the Top 200 on itunes so can't have sold in their own right. They are likely his physical sales then?

Sunday Chart Predictions
Surprised both of Matt's B sides have sold enough to each chart separately in the Top 30, though I prefer them to the single. Still seems strange to me having heard the previews and live tracks that they went with Run For Your Life, they obviously thought Gary's name alone would propel it to greatness and it's backfired. Gets him off to a dodgy start as an X Factor winner.

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
I think the Heartbeat video came out first, I seem to vividly recall seeing it for the first time on a Channel 4 show , it might well have been Popworld. I remember when Heartbeat/Tragedy CLIMBED to number 1, I think it was just after Christmas, back then I was an avid chart fan and listened to the chart every week, having NO IDEA what the number 1 was until the second it was played, the week it climbed which was very exciting, as it wasn't too common, the dj read out all these clues about how many dropped songs, how many climbers and I remember working out as songs were played 'OMG that means Steps are number 1!' They only ever had two didn't they? That and 'Stomp' which I remember everyone at the time saying is SO different for Steps! When really now looking back isn't that different at all! I thought Stereo Heart had a suspiciously slow start, that's much more like it, everyone I know loves it, what were the peaks for Clothes Off and Cupid's Chokehold? I can't remember

Kelly Clarkson - Stronger
This just clicked with me too, it's such a gorgeous song, I really love it! :wub:

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
Definitely do, lovely song, far more 'Matt' and he was so much more at ease than in the main performance!

Matt Cardle - Run For Your Life // Letters
So much hate, it honestly baffles me how he has seemingly ENRAGED so many people, there's posters there doing a complete jig of delight. Sad. :lol: I still think the album is going to do fine. Those expecting an epic flop there are going to be disappointed. I really love the B sides Chemical, Lost and Found. Did you see his acoustic performance of an album track at the end of the Xtra Factor? It was lovely.

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
I don't think his entire career can be written off on one single's itunes performance, the album is a million times better and last time I looked it was doing well on pre orders, the 3rd highest pre ordered CD behind Coldplay and Noel at Hmv, currently no 1 on Amazon pre release chart and number 4 in their hourly best sellers of all music current n future with just Adele, Cee Lo and James Morrison ahead of him. He will also blatantly pick up a lot of sales in the supermarket. He may well be beaten to the number 1 position by Noel, and will definitely be outstripped massively by Coldplay the following week but I expect he will get healthy album sales, the next single alone will help sell the album and there's plenty more potential singles, he's obviously not going to get record breaking sales but should sell comfortably despite an under performing single.

COME ON - chart/airplay/twitter/snippets
*humph* must have been regional ladies because I didn't get that here in Yorkshire :angry: I absolutely ADORED that performance, for me it was flawless, the vocals, the visuals, the GORGEOUS smiles to camera, one of the best TV performances I've seen him do for me!! Glad its given the album a nudge, would LOVE to see that performance on X Factor, and see how big it would boost the album, I know Grace had little impact but think Come On has broader appeal. Though I guess they couldn't have it on X Factor because it would really show up those 'amazing performance' soundbites from the likes of Louis and Tulisa for the bullshit they are in comparison. :lol: and show what a GENUINELY amazing performance was!

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
Oh absolutely check out Digital Spy X Factor Forum, "LIMPING in at no 4, R.I.P Matt Cardle's career." He is under performing by X Factor's massively high standards though and that is all the ammunition needed for his many, many detractors.

The Buzzjack Sunday Chart Show Thread
http://www.theofficialcharts.com/ 87K?!?!??! That's astonishing in the time it was on sale! :o Annoyed for Maroon 5 but that is truly impressive stuff from Rihanna!

The Buzzjack Sunday Chart Show Thread
Interesting Adele squeezed in between James Morrison and You Me At Six in the end because everyone was tweeting how little there was between James and You Me At Six and pleading people to buy 'You Me At Six' for 'the sake of British rock music'. Wonder how close it was in the end?

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (I)
Hmm Matt's doing decently but not climbing as fast as the 'big sales' number 1s from the past few weeks I don't think, obviously One Direction were number 1 by the early hours but Dappy and Olly Murs also had much faster climbs I think and they cleared/almost cleared 100K? I think Matt's on course for itunes number 1 with the X Factor boost later if it manages to displace Rihanna, but can only see it having average-ish sales and not sure if that will be enough for a number 1 in the end. There were a lot of current songs on X factor last night, though it was a bit wrong for Gary Barlow to introduce Marcus as singing 'the current No.1' as I fully expected him to sing 'Loca People' :lol: perhaps Gary meant the Big Top 40 because I think Maroon 5 are number 1 on that, or he was just been presumptious that Maroon 5 would be number 1 tonight, because even at that point there were still a couple of hours sales left that might have made all the difference, he couldn't possibly know Maroon 5 would be number 1 on tonight's chart at that point!

X Factor 2011 || Live Shows - Week 1
I guess so, it makes it easier for the public to agree with his decision to vote him off, if he indeed does though because they'll think 'I don't remember that performance very well' and 'didn't he get bad comments?' so 'Gary must be right.' I think Gary will 'reluctantly' choose to lose James. I do think he genuinely likes him a lot, and made sure he was praised after Louis and Kelly were pretty lukewarm but ultimately prefers the other three, hope I'm wrong though because I think he has loads of potential.

X Factor 2011 || Live Shows - Week 1
I think perhaps the wrong autocue went up, I didn't know song choices so when Kelly said that I thought oh Sophie's singing Adele! So when she sang the opening to Teenage Dream, I was like huh!? BTW was it just me or when Kelly was all, 'Katy who?' , was Louis shouting 'She's on the show next week!' So I guess she'll be singing The One That Got Away? I don't envy Kelly's decision, but if she was 100% basing on performance than of the four girls, sadly Amelia was the weakest for me, in a public vote I couldn't see any of those 4 being in the bottom 4, seems harsh to lose a strong singer when someone like Johnny is blatantly going to stay in. The eliminations in the other categories seem more straight forward - jonjo, James, 2 Shoes though I could see Thousand. Perhaps eliminating Nu Vibe instead. I like James, I thought he did good but the fact the other 3 boys got current chart hits and although he got something that suited him, there's no getting away from the fact, it wasn't a memorable performance, and I can't help think that was deliberate, as has his lack of coverage so far, getting through on snippets so viewers couldn't get too attached, makes me think he was a 4th pick sacrifice. I think Gary definitely likes him and appreciates his talent but for some reason he is obsessed with Frankie and there is zero chance of him leaving, Craig was excellent and Gary clearly aforesaid him so that just leaves Marcus but I think his personality will carry him through over James who hasn't had chance to shine. Given something more current like I Won't Let You Go, with his guitar, he could have been a real threat. Early standouts for me Craig, Misha, Sophie, and surprisingly The Risk, masses of potential from Amelia, Marcus and Sami.

Will guest on Jo Whiley show - sky Arts
Just seen the advert for this, Jo speaks really passionately about the need for a show that is just about the music and what really struck me is the quality of the acts that are on Noel Gallagher, Friendly Fires and mentioning Will Young in between all these 'uber cool' critical darlings just seemed so Natural, tripped off Jo's tongue. I think he really would have stood a chance this year at getting the award he covets most if it wasn't for Ed Sheeran!! Annoying but there you go, think he's in with a shout for an album nomination actually. Can't wait for this show, it sounds like the kind of show the music industry is crying out for! Anyone notice the album chart show is still running? Kind of miffed he hasn't been asked to do this, he has in the past!

New Release Schedule: Monday 3 October
According to this article on Digital Spy about their next single, http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a34...-to-be-you.html The One Direction album is out November 21st. Going up against Rihanna is an interesting move.

X Factor 2011 || Live Shows - Week 1
Well I thought that might be the case and this was always going to be about eliminations but how silly of me to think that the public would be deciding this, of course we can't have that in case the public send home any producer favourites.I actually can't believe that ITV have agreed to any twist that involves no public vote though! Straight away you've got to say it now looks like James and Sophie who made it through on mere snippets aired to the public were chosen to be nothing more than sacrificial lambs. It's risky though for producers they say it is solely going to be decided on the live performances, and sure they can manipulate song choice etc but what if someone like Sophie gives an amazing performance whilst one of the girls crumbles? They'd have to come up with some epic bullshit to convince even the most placid of X Factor viewer, it was the right decision, they did say it was cruel and I strongly suspected 4 eliminations but didn't foresee a scrapping of the public vote!

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (I)
I saw Invisible played twice in the space of an hour or so today, on the 4 Music Fresh Music Top 20 then immediately after on 'The 20 Biggest Artists of 2011', she was placed at 18 ahead of Lady Gaga at 20, if memory serves! (Adele, Jessie and Bruno were the top 3)

Will Young - Echoes
Finally got around to finishing my review for Amazon today, Miss X and Y :) Felt compelled to write something! This album floors me, it was played in HMV the other day and I couldn't leave until it had finished. Sounded gorgeous :wub:

Other Music
I really liked the format, in the blind auditions the coaches have to battle for the contestants to join their team, when the contestants sing, the judges press a button to show they want them then the contestant must choose who they want (if more than 1 coach battles for them!) Basically they pick 8 contestants each to take to the battle rounds. Then they pit their own contestants against each other, (they should do that here, that Frankie abomination would be annihilated! :lol: ) in the ultimate sing off and the coaches must choose the winner of each battle so each coach then has 4 contestants going into the live shows. The live shows did seem to be over rather quickly, over the 2 quarter finals all 4 off each team performed and the public picked their top choice from each category. Then the coach picked 1 to save and sent the others home so going into the semi's each coach had 2. The way the finalist for each was picked was very interesting, a combination of votes from the public (including itunes sales) and a points score from the coaches who had to split 100 points between the 2. Most did it fairly but I think Adam went 60/40 to ensure the one he wanted got through. Interesting move. Anyway, I think the UK will LOVE the format for starters, all the ones that are invited to the blind auditions are handpicked for their TALENT, there was not one bad one/comedy one on the US one, just varying degrees of average to great to amazing but EVERYONE could sing, as much as people claim to love the X Factor auditions, I think the public will find this a refreshing change. And I really would just love it if Will was involved! :D I can see him on that swivelling chair now, talking round the contestants to join HIS team despite whatever 'superstars' he's alongside. :lol:
