MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
Once again we have a new number 1 - "Solar Power". The question is: is this Lorde's first chart-topper? The situation is complicated because of "Royals". There was no European chart broadcast on MTV Europe in 2013. However, "Royals" did reach number 1 in MTV Italy's European chart at the end of 2013.

"Need To Know" is Doja Cat's second number 1 after "Kiss Me More". "Love Again" by Dua Lipa, which appears at number 9, samples "My Woman" by Al Bowlly. Another song which samples "My Woman" - "Your Woman" by White Town - peaked at number 5 in 1997.

"Higher Power" becomes Coldplay's fifth number 1 in MTV Europe's European chart after "Speed Of Sound", "Violet Hill", "Viva La Vida" and "Adventure Of A Lifetime". U2 last appeared in the chart in 2017 with "You're The Best Thing About Me". Now "We Are The People" (with Martin Garrix) marks the first time when this half of U2 - Bono and The Edge - appear in the chart without the other half. On the other hand, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen already scored a number 2 in 1996 with "Theme From Mission: Impossible".

"Sun Goes Down" becomes Lil' Nas X's third chart-topper after "Old Town Road" and "Montero". And the song that won Eurovision - "Zitti E Buoni" by Måneskin - appears at number 7! This is not the first Italian representative at Eurovision to reach MTV Europe's European chart. In 2017 Francesco Gabbani appeared with "Occidentali's Karma" and before that - Toto Cutugno with "Insieme: 1992" in 1990. "Zitti E Buoni" reaches the highest peak position for a Eurovision song since "Euphoria" by Loreen peaked at number 4 in 2012. And 2 years earlier, in 2010, Lena actually became number 1 with "Satellite"!

"Good 4 U" becomes Olivia Rodrigo's second chart-topper after "Deja Vu"... while "Drivers License" absurdly only reached number 2... "All I Know So Far" by Pink manages to appear in the chart - something which "Cover Me In Sunshine" never did.

"Your Power" becomes the third number 1 of Billie Eilish in the chart after "Bad Guy" and "Therefore I Am".

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
Well, this was bound to happen sooner or later! After there being a new number 1 every week for TWELVE consecutive weeks, now a song finally remains at the top - "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat and SZA! It's also notable that "Heartbreak Anniversary" by Giveon spends a fifth consecutive week at number 12.
-
MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
So now there is yet another European chart? This is the twelfth week in a row with a new number 1. "Kiss Me More" is the first chart-topper for both Doja Cat and SZA, although Doja Cat came close with "Say So", which peaked at number 2.

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
Yes, some weeks can make one feel sad and desperate... But there are also promising editions of the chart! And I have definitely seen worse times when it comes to the old MTV European Top 20 chart, which ended in 2012... This is the eleventh week in a row with a new number 1. "Sabotage" by Bebe Rexha is yet another completely not deserving chart-topper as the song is nowhere to be found in any European country's singles chart... Still, this is the first time Bebe Rexha reaches number 1 - and, if I'm not missing anyone, she becomes the fifth ethnic Albanian to achieve this after Rita Ora, Dua Lipa, Ava Max and DJ Regard. Among them, Bebe Rexha is the first one whose country of ancestry is (North) Macedonia.

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
This is the tenth week in a row with a new number 1! "Deja Vu" by Olivia Rodrigo fell 3-13 last week but now jumps 12 places to the top. What's sad is that MTV Europe never played "Drivers License" at number 1. The chart of February 13, 2021 was the last edition which was identical to MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20". In the corresponding edition of the latter for that week, "Driver's License" was at the top. However, MTV Europe didn't play it and pretended that it doesn't exist... The following week "Driver's License" was still at the top in MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20"... and MTV Europe played it for the first time - but now the chart was different from MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" and the song was only at number 2...

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
MTV Europe has changed its schedule. Now the "Euro Top Chart" is broadcast not only from 9:30 to 11:00 CET on Saturday but also from 6:00 to 7:30 CET on Sunday. Strange things are happening with Olivia Rodrigo's songs. Last week "Drivers License" fell from number 3 to number 13 while "Deja Vu" appeared at number 3... This week "Deja Vu" also goes 3-13 while "Drivers License" climbs 8 places to number 5! "Telepatia" by Kali Uchis is yet another baffling number 1. It's also the first chart-topper (at least partially) in Spanish since "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee in 2017.

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
Since this chart became different from MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" in February, there has been a new number 1 every week! "Montero" becomes Lil' Nas X's second chart-topper after "Old Town Road" (with Billy Ray Cyrus), which spent a total of 4 weeks at number 1 in 2019.

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
When MTV Europe broadcast this edition of the chart, there were differences in the positions between number 15 and number 13: 15 Ava Max - My Head & My Heart 14 Justin Bieber - Hold On 13 SZA - Good Days The appearance of "This Is Heaven" by Nick Jonas at number 2 is completely incomprehensible - the song can't be found in the singles chart of any European country... "Peaches" becomes number 1 just 2 weeks after "Hold On" reached the top (for a single week). While this is an impressive achievement by Justin Bieber, the most remarkable such achievement happened in 2017, when Ed Sheeran reached number 1 with a song ("Castle On The Hill") one week and reached number 1 with ANOTHER song ("Shape Of You") the FOLLOWING week!

"Leave The Door Open" becomes the third number 1 of Bruno Mars in MTV Europe's European chart after "Grenade" and "Uptown Funk!" (with Mark Ronson). As for Anderson .Paak - this is his second appearance in the chart. "Lockdown" spent a couple of weeks below the Top 40 but inside the Top 50 last year (during those editions MTV Europe showed positions between number 50 and number 41).

"Hold On" is yet another puzzling number 1. Justin Bieber was last at the top with "Yummy" a little over a year ago.

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
"My Head & My Heart" becomes the second number 1 of Ava Max in this chart after "Sweet But Psycho", which spent a total of 8 weeks at the top. Interestingly, last year a similarly titled song also reached number 1 - "Head & Heart" by Joel Corry and MNEK. Probably the funniest example happened at the end of 1990 when "I'm Your Baby Tonight" by Whitney Houston was replaced at the top by... "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" by Robert Palmer and UB 40!!

Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of March 6, 2021: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 Rita Ora, Imanbek & David Guetta - Big 2 Up 24 Taylor Swift - Willow Stay => 23 Jason Derulo & Adam Levine - Lifestyle 2 Up 22 Ariana Grande - 34+35 6 Down 21 Madison Beer - Selfish 20 Saweetie & Doja Cat - Best Friend Stay => 19 Riton & Nightcrawlers - Friday 18 Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa - Prisoner 5 Down 17 Ed Sheeran - Afterglow 3 Down 16 ATB & Topic - Your Love 1 Down 15 Cardi B - Up 4 Down 14 Justin Bieber - Anyone 2 Down 13 Masked Wolf - Astronaut In The Ocean 4 Up 12 Meduza & Dermot Kennedy - Paradise 2 Down 11 Doja Cat - Streets 5 Down 10 The Kid Laroi - Without You 1 Down 9 Selena Gomez & Rauw Alejandro - Baila Conmigo 1 Down 8 24kGoldn & Iann Dior - Mood 1 Down 7 Ava Max - My Head & My Heart 12 Up 6 DJ Tiesto - The Business 1 Down 5 Lil' Tjay & 6LACK - Calling My Phone 1 Down 4 Olivia Rodrigo - Drivers License 1 Down 3 Dua Lipa - We're Good 2 Down 2 The Weeknd - Save Your Tears Stay => 1 Sam Fischer & Demi Lovato - What Other People Say "Selfish" by Madison Beer appeared in a few European countries' charts a year ago. For some reason it's at number 21 in this chart NOW?! "Friday" by Riton and Nightcrawlers (currently at number 19) samples the latter's "Push The Feeling On", which peaked at number 4 in the chart in 1995. ...And "What Other People Say" by Sam Fischer and Demi Lovato might possibly be the most flabbergasting number 1 of all time in MTV Europe's European chart! At the moment, it can be found in 2 charts - the UK chart, with a peak position of number 83 (last week - number 95); and the Irish chart, with a peak position of number 69 (last week - number 76)... This is Sam Fischer's second hit in this chart after "This City", which peaked at number 14 last year. As for Demi Lovato - this is their second chart-topper after "Solo" (which wasn't solo but a collaboration with Clean Bandit).

Wonderful! So this chart is broadcast on MTV Hungary as well? In this case, if it happens that I can't watch an edition of the chart, someone who has access to MTV Hungary can watch it so that we don't miss that particular edition! Is it possible to watch MTV Hungary online?

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2021
Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of February 27, 2021: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 Rita Ora, Imanbek & David Guetta - Big 17 Down 26 Shawn Mendes & Justin Bieber - Monster 6 Down 25 Jason Derulo & Adam Levine - Lifestyle 24 Taylor Swift - Willow 6 Down 23 Sabrina Carpenter - Skin 7 Down 22 Billie Eilish & Rosalia - Lo Vas A Olvidar 5 Down 21 Royal Blood - Typhoons 20 Saweetie & Doja Cat - Best Friend 3 Up 19 Ava Max - My Head & My Heart 18 Ofenbach - Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes 3 Down 17 Masked Wolf - Astronaut In The Ocean 16 Ariana Grande - 34+35 7 Down 15 ATB & Topic - Your Love 6 Up 14 Ed Sheeran - Afterglow Stay => 13 Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa - Prisoner 1 Down 12 Justin Bieber - Anyone 1 Down 11 Cardi B - Up 4 Down 10 Meduza & Dermot Kennedy - Paradise 2 Down 9 The Kid Laroi - Without You 3 Down 8 Selena Gomez & Rauw Alejandro - Baila Conmigo 5 Up 7 24kGoldn & Iann Dior - Mood 4 Down 6 Doja Cat - Streets 5 DJ Tiesto - The Business Stay => 4 Lil' Tjay & 6LACK - Calling My Phone 3 Olivia Rodrigo - Drivers License 1 Down 2 The Weeknd - Save Your Tears 1 Down 1 Dua Lipa - We're Good 3 Up "My Head & My Heart" by Ava Max appears at number 19. The song is based on "La La La La La" by ATC. I remember when during one of the editions of the chart back in 2000 the chart presenter (VJ Trey) mentioned a song with the lyrics "La La La La La"... I thought that was a sign that it would debut soon... However, it never charted in MTV Europe's European chart... "Your Love" by ATB and Topic is based on the former's "9 P.M." and now reaches the same peak position as that song did in 1999 - number 15. The new number 1 is "We're Good" by Dua Lipa - another baffling chart-topper which, at least for now, hasn't had that much success across Europe to be deserving of the position. Last year was very good for Dua Lipa as she had 3 number ones - "Don't Start Now", "Physical" and "Prisoner" (with Miley Cyrus).

Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of February 20, 2021: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 Billie Eilish - Therefore I Am 26 Lana Del Rey - Chemtrails Over The Country Club 25 The Weeknd - Blinding Lights 5 Down 24 Zara Larsson - Talk About Love 23 Saweetie & Doja Cat - Best Friend 22 Dua Lipa & Madonna - Levitating 8 Down 21 ATB & Topic - Your Love 20 Shawn Mendes & Justin Bieber - Monster 19 Foo Fighters - Waiting On A War 3 Up 18 Taylor Swift - Willow 9 Up 17 Billie Eilish & Rosalia - Lo Vas A Olvidar 16 Sabrina Carpenter - Skin 15 Ofenbach - Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes 14 Ed Sheeran - Afterglow 13 Down 13 Selena Gomez & Rauw Alejandro - Baila Conmigo 12 Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa - Prisoner 2 Down 11 Justin Bieber - Anyone 5 Down 10 Rita Ora, Imanbek & David Guetta - Big 9 Ariana Grande - 34+35 8 Meduza & Dermot Kennedy - Paradise 3 Down 7 Cardi B - Up 6 The Kid Laroi - Without You 5 DJ Tiesto - The Business 1 Down 4 Dua Lipa - We're Good 3 24kGoldn & Iann Dior - Mood 12 Up 2 Olivia Rodrigo - Drivers License 1 The Weeknd - Save Your Tears 1 Up IS THIS A NEW BEGINNING? First of all, MTV Europe has changed its schedule. Now the "Euro Top Chart" is broadcast from 9:30 to 11:00 CET on Saturday. However, there also seems to be another change, which is much bigger... This edition of the chart doesn't really look like a direct continuation of last week's edition - it looks like another chart! Until last week, the upper part of this chart was basically the same as MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20". Very rarely were there some extremely small differences... But this week's edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" looks like a direct continuation of last week's edition - while MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" is completely different! Maybe MTV Europe's chart and MTV Italy's chart are separate charts now?... Everything is so different! "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes" by Ofenbach spent a few weeks in MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" in November 2020 but MTV Europe refused to play it - now it appears at number 15. It's great to finally see some songs that are having success around Europe like "Without You" by The Kid Laroi and, especially, "Drivers License" by Olivia Rodrigo - which MTV Europe refused to play until last week, even though it even reached number 1 in MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20"! It was also unbelievable how "Mood" by 24kGoldn and Iann Dior only peaked at number 8 in this chart - when it was so successful that it should have reached the top... Well, now at least it's at number 3! What about the new number 1? As I mentioned last week, a year ago "Blinding Lights" was at the top (and it's still in the chart!!!!!!)... Now The Weeknd is at number 1 again but with another song - "Save Your Tears".

The "corresponding" edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" is not corresponding at all - it's completely different! It seems like they are separate charts now...

"Waiting On A War" by Foo Fighters, "Lose Your Head" by London Grammar, "Break My Heart" by JC Stewart, "I Got You" by Disciples... "Sweet Melody" becomes the second number 1 of Little Mix in MTV Europe's European chart after "Black Magic".
