  1. It's interesting that this time MTV Italy showed positions below number 20. However, in the corresponding edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" "Lonely" by Joel Corry is at number 22 and "Everything I Wanted" by Billie Eilish is at number 23.
  2. Now it's back, 2 years later!! Does anyone know what might be the REASON for this?
  3. Just as I suspected! Last week MTV Italy showed this week's chart so that's why they are repeating it now! They actually missed last week's edition of the chart - which only MTV Europe showed!
  4. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of March 28, 2020: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me 3 Down 33 Meduza & Becky Hill - Lose Control 5 Down 32 Camila Cabello - My Oh My 6 Down 31 30 Justin Bieber - Intentions 5 Down 29 Roddy Ricch - The Box 9 Down 28 27 26 Harry Styles - Falling 25 Alicia Keys - Underdog 4 Up 24 23 Jonas Brothers - What A Man Gotta Do 11 Down 22 Mabel - Boyfriend 21 Halsey - You Should Be Sad 2 Down 20 19 Billie Eilish - Everything I Wanted 2 Down 18 Joel Corry - Lonely 4 Down 17 16 15 SZA & Justin Timberlake - The Other Side 2 Down 14 DJ Regard - Ride It 3 Down 13 Maroon 5 - Memories 9 Up 12 Sam Smith - To Die For 2 Down 11 10 Tones And I - Dance Monkey 1 Down 9 Celeste - Stop This Flame 1 Down 8 Doja Cat - Say So 2 Down 7 6 5 Lewis Capaldi - Before You Go 2 Up 4 The Weeknd - Blinding Lights 1 Down 3 Lady GaGa - Stupid Love 2 Down 2 SAINt JHN - Roses Stay => 1 Dua Lipa - Physical 4 Up Dua Lipa's "Don't Stop Now" spent a total of 4 (nonconsecutive) weeks at number 1 at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020... Now the follow-up, "Physical" - which, at least for now, is nowhere near as successful around Europe - astonishingly reaches the top, too!
  5. Now this is extremely interesting!! The corresponding edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" is... in my opinion, not "corresponding" at all! Basically all the songs have different positions! The only logical conclusion is that the editions are actually consecutive - one of the MTV's is showing the chart of a particular week while the other MTV is showing the chart of the following week... We'll see next week, I guess!...

  9. Their previous 3 songs which peaked at number 2 in this chart were "Stickwitu", "Beep" and "Jai Ho!" (with A.R. Rahman). However, they have never had a chart-topper in MTV Europe's European chart. "Don't Cha", admittedly their biggest single, only reached number 5... ...On the other hand, Nicole Scherzinger has had a number 1 as a "solo" artist - or, more precisely, in a trio with Timbaland and Keri Hilson. "Scream"!
  10. It's interesting that this time MTV Italy showed positions below number 20. However, while "Circles" by Post Malone is at number 21 here, it's at number 24 in the corresponding edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart".

This is supposedly the third consecutive week at the top for the song but the first week in which MTV Europe actually showed it as number 1... "Blinding Lights" becomes The Weekend's fourth chart-topper after "Can't Feel My Face", "The Hills" and "Starboy" (with Daft Punk). And then we have another interesting story. This is what happens when a song does well in some European countries in a particular year... but only becomes successful in the UK the following year! Our story starts in the beginning of February 2019 when "Power Over Me" by Dermot Kennedy first appeared in this chart. The song peaked at number 15 and last appeared here in the chart of April 6, 2019... Now "Power Over Me" reappears in the chart at its peak position (number 15) more than TEN MONTHS LATER!
  13. Another strange thing is that they played "Rare" by Selena Gomez at number 23... while they never played "Lose You To Love Me" - which (if MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" chart is to be believed) spent a couple of months in the Top 20 and even reached number 4... What is MTV Europe's criterion for which song to play and which - not?!...

Supposedly, the chart-topper is "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd as it's number 1 in the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" chart... I guess the excuse is that the official video for "Blinding Lights" has been released relatively recently. But even if at some point MTV Europe start playing the video, what if "Blinding Lights" is not at the top anymore? Then it will have missed its chance to be shown as number 1...
  15. "Don't Start Now" by Dua Lipa was shown as number 3 in the corresponding edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" (and MTV Europe skipped the number 2 position).

II", a collaboration between Alan Walker and Ava Max, appears at number 32. The first part of "Alone" - without Ava Max - reached number 10 at the beginning of 2017, 3 years ago. After MTV Europe played "Dance Monkey" by Tones And I at number 4, they played "Ride It" by DJ Regard... and showed its position as number 1. However, immediately after that they played "Don't Start Now" by Dua Lipa... and also showed its position as number 1! "Don't Start Now" is the number 1 in the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" so there is no doubt that it's at the top of this chart, too. But I have no way of knowing whether "Ride It" is supposed to be at number 2 or number 3 - it's actually at number 4 in the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20"!?... That's why I haven't listed "Ride It" in this edition of the chart at all.

  19. The old MTV European Top 20 chart, which had been broadcast on MTV Europe for more than 20 years, ended in 2012. However, it looks like since January 4, 2014 some European "chart" has started being broadcast again on MTV Europe. The chart is broadcast on Fridays from 9:00 to 11:00 CET and on Sundays from 6:00 to 8:00 CET. Previously the chart seemed to be a Top 40 but in recent years MTV Europe sometimes has also shown positions between number 50 and number 41, indicating a Top 50. However, not all the positions are shown - some of them are skipped each week. The songs that are skipped on this "Euro Top Chart" seem to be one of two cases: either songs that aren't played on MTV Europe in general (especially if they don't have an official video yet); or when an artist has more than one song in the chart, not all are shown. It's also notable that the upper part of this chart is basically the same as the "Euro Top 20" chart that is broadcast on MTV Italy.
  20. It's quite remarkable that this is an "ordinary" edition of the chart. The corresponding edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" is a special edition of the chart - for the whole year 2019!
  21. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of January 4, 2020: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 DJ Tiesto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual 24 Halsey - Without Me 23 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma 22 Freya Ridings - Castles 21 Sigala - Wish You Well 20 Post Malone - Circles 19 Tones And I - Dance Monkey 18 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights 17 Tom Walker - Just You And I 16 Daddy Yankee & Snow - Con Calma 15 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 14 Panic! It's just that they didn't broadcast it during the last week of 2019 but during the first week of 2020! Some of the inclusions are questionable as they weren't really among the most successful songs in this chart in 2019... On the other hand, there are some notable omissions - mainly songs that reached number 1. Here are the chart-toppers from 2019 which weren't included in this edition: "SOS" by Avicii and Aloe Blacc (which was actually at number 2 but was presented as the chart-topper; MTV Europe didn't play the real number 1 during that week - "ME!" by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie - and pretended that it doesn't exist); "I Don't Care" by Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber; "You Need To Calm Down" by Taylor Swift; "Boyfriend" by Ariana Grande and Social House; "Ride It" by DJ Regard; "Memories" by Maroon 5; and "Don't Start Now" by Dua Lipa. Finally, "Shallow" by Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper appeared both in the chart for the whole year 2018 (at number 19) and in the chart for the whole year 2019 (at number 8)!
  22. It's interesting that MTV Italy showed positions number 21 and 22 in this edition of the chart. According to them, "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish is at number 21. However, in the corresponding edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" "Bad Guy" is at number 24.
  23. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of December 28, 2019: 50 49 48 47 46 45 44 43 42 Harry Styles - Adore You 41 Mr. Eazi & Tyga - Tony Montana 5 Down 40 Travis Scott - Highest In The Room 6 Down 39 38 37 36 35 Ava Max - Torn 5 Down 34 Dermot Kennedy - Outnumbered 5 Down 33 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 5 Down 32 The Script - The Last Time 6 Down 31 30 DJ Tiesto & Mabel - God Is A Dancer 6 Down 29 Niall Horan - Nice To Meet Ya 2 Down 28 27 26 SAINt JHN & Lenny Kravitz - Borders 25 24 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy 5 Down 23 Kygo & Whitney Houston - Higher Love 2 Down 22 Tom Walker - Better Half Of Me 3 Up 21 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita 3 Down 20 Coldplay - Orphans 3 Down 19 The Weeknd - Heartless 18 17 Jax Jones - This Is Real 4 Down 16 Freya Ridings - Castles 4 Down 15 14 13 12 11 10 Meduza & Becky Hill - Lose Control 1 Down 9 8 7 Post Malone - Circles 1 Down 6 5 Stormzy & Ed Sheeran - Own It 4 Tones And I - Dance Monkey Stay => 3 DJ Regard - Ride It 1 Down 2 Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now 1 Down 1 Maroon 5 - Memories 2 Up In 2017 and 2018, during the last week of the year MTV Europe broadcast a special edition of the chart - for the whole year. However, in 2019 the last edition of the chart is an "ordinary" edition. Surprisingly, "Memories" by Maroon 5 returns to number 1 for a second week there. Its first week at the top was 5 weeks ago.
