  1. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of June 22, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 Wiley, Sean Paul & Stefflon Don - Boasty 32 Ellie Goulding - Sixteen 6 Down 31 Pink - Walk Me Home 6 Down 30 29 Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger 5 Down 28 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow 5 Down 27 Kygo & Rita Ora - Carry On 5 Down 26 Tom Walker - Just You And I 6 Down 25 Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You 18 Down 24 23 22 Daddy Yankee & Snow - Con Calma 5 Down 21 Madonna & Maluma - Medellin 3 Down 20 Stormzy - Vossi Bop 11 Down 19 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 4 Down 18 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up 5 Down 17 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 1 Down 16 Mark Ronson & Lykke Li - Late Night Feelings 2 Down 15 14 13 12 11 Taylor Swift & Brendon Urie - ME! 3 Down 10 Ava Max - So Am I 2 Up 9 James Arthur - Falling Like The Stars 1 Up 8 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 4 Down 7 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 4 Up 6 Avicii & Aloe Blacc - SOS Stay => 5 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy Stay => 4 3 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved Stay => 2 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care 1 Down 1 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 1 Up At the very beginning of this year, Miley Cyrus reached number 1 with "Nothing Breaks Like A Heart" (together with Mark Ronson). Now Billy Ray Cyrus does the same with "Old Town Road" (together with Lil' Nas X)! I'll have to check the archives to see whether there have been other cases in the history of this chart when both a parent and a child have scored chart-toppers. In any case, I don't think any have achieved this in one and the same year... and ESPECIALLY I don't believe there has been any instance when the child has gone to number 1 BEFORE the parent!!!!!!
  2. The edition of the chart broadcast on June 14 is actually the same as the one broadcast on June 16. It's just that in the edition broadcast on June 14 MTV Europe showed a "compressed" version of the chart - with the songs presented as a Top 27. On the other hand, on June 16 MTV Europe showed the real positions of the songs - with the gaps between them... "I Don't Care" becomes the sixth number 1 for Ed Sheeran after "Sing", "Thinking Out Loud", "Castle On The Hill", "Shape Of You" and "Perfect"; and the seventh number 1 for Justin Bieber after "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (the duet version with Mariah Carey - yes, really!), "What Do You Mean?", "Sorry", "Love Yourself", "Let Me Love You" (with DJ Snake) and "I'm The One" (with DJ Khaled); I'm not counting his "contribution" on "Despacito".
  3. MTV Europe has changed its schedule. Now the "Euro Top Chart" is broadcast from 9:00 to 11:00 CET on Friday and from 6:00 to 8:00 CET on Sunday. "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi spends a ninth week at number 1, thus becoming the first song to be at the top for more than 8 weeks since "Rockabye" by Clean Bandit, Sean Paul and Anne-Marie, which reigned over the chart for a total of 11 weeks during the end of 2016/beginning of 2017. Just like last year, the winner of this year's Eurovision Song Contest appears in the chart - "Arcade" by Duncan Laurence from the Netherlands!
  4. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of June 1, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 Imagine Dragons - Bad Liar 3 Down 25 Kygo & Rita Ora - Carry On 24 23 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma 9 Up 22 21 Pink - Walk Me Home 6 Down 20 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow Stay => 19 Madonna & Maluma - Medellin 1 Down 18 Tom Walker - Just You And I 2 Down 17 Daddy Yankee & Snow - Con Calma 4 Down 16 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 9 Down 15 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up 1 Down 14 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 3 Down 13 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 1 Down 12 Taylor Swift & Brendon Urie - ME! 10 Down 11 10 Marshmello & CHVRCHES - Here With Me Stay => 9 Stormzy - Vossi Bop 8 Ava Max - So Am I 2 Down 7 Avicii & Aloe Blacc - SOS 2 Down 6 Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You 5 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy 2 Down 4 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 3 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 2 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care 1 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved Stay => It's great that now MTV Europe played for the first time quite a few songs that are having success across Europe... Yet neither "Old Town Road" nor "I Don't Care" has managed to overthrow "Someone You Loved" - for now, at least.
  5. Let me also share the chart MTV Europe broadcast on Saturday, May 25, 2019 - it's THE SAME EDITION, just showing the real positions of the songs - with the gaps between them: 50 49 48 47 46 45 44 CamelPhat - Breathe 43 42 41 40 39 38 37 36 Sofia Reyes, Rita Ora & Anitta - R.I.P. 35 The Chainsmokers & 5 Seconds Of Summer - Who Do You Love 34 33 32 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma 31 George Ezra - Pretty Shining People 10 Down 30 Wiley, Sean Paul & Stefflon Don - Boasty 13 Down 29 BTS & Halsey - Boy With Luv 9 Down 28 27 26 25 24 Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger 9 Down 23 Imagine Dragons - Bad Liar 5 Down 22 21 20 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow 7 Down 19 Mark Ronson & Lykke Li - Late Night Feelings 7 Down 18 Madonna & Maluma - Medellin 7 Down 17 16 Tom Walker - Just You And I 10 Down 15 Pink - Walk Me Home 11 Down 14 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up 4 Down 13 Daddy Yankee & Snow - Con Calma 4 Down 12 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 2 Up 11 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 5 Up 10 Marshmello & CHVRCHES - Here With Me 2 Down 9 8 7 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 2 Down 6 Ava Max - So Am I 1 Up 5 Avicii & Aloe Blacc - SOS 4 Down 4 3 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy Stay => 2 Taylor Swift & Brendon Urie - ME! 1 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 1 Up "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi returns to number 1 - this is its seventh (nonconsecutive) week there. This time MTV Europe did play "ME!" by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie... but it's not at the top anymore... I can only hope that it will return to number 1 and then MTV Europe will play it - otherwise it will remain in the history of the chart as a skipped number 1 (like "One Kiss" by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa and also possibly Taylor Swift's own "Bad Blood")...
  6. Yes, because Markus (Tolksdorf), whose website has this archive, has decided to count the editions of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" chart from the period between August 2012 and the end of 2013 as if they were also editions of MTV Europe's European chart. But the truth is that during that period no European chart was broadcast on MTV Europe, nor was any European chart shown on MTV Europe's website.
  7. "Bad Liar" by Imagine Dragons actually falls 3 places down. The situation around "SOS" by Avicii and Aloe Blacc is quite sad... OK, according to this chart, the song is the current number 1... Has Avicii had any other chart-toppers? "Wake Me Up!" absolutely certainly would have reached number 1 in 2013... but there was no European chart broadcast on MTV Europe between August 2012 and the end of 2013... On the other hand, while I only started watching the chart (again) in February 2014 so I can't confirm this, "Hey Brother" seems to have spent 2 weeks at the top in January 2014 - judging by the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20". Ah, MTV Italy... This brings us to the sad part - "SOS" is not really the current number 1!... In the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" the number 1 is "ME!" by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie while "SOS" is at number 2. However, MTV Europe pretended that "ME!" doesn't exist and so each song below it moved a place higher! As a result, "SOS", which was actually at number 2, was presented as the chart-topper...
  8. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of May 11, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma 10 Down 30 29 Sofia Reyes, Rita Ora & Anitta - R.I.P. 3 Down 28 27 26 25 George Ezra - Pretty Shining People 24 23 22 Lauv & Troye Sivan - I'm So Tired... 21 Wiley, Sean Paul & Stefflon Don - Boasty 20 Ava Max - So Am I 8 Down 19 18 Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger 7 Down 17 Marshmello & CHVRCHES - Here With Me 3 Up 16 15 Imagine Dragons - Bad Liar 5 Down 14 13 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 12 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow 5 Down 11 Madonna & Maluma - Medellin 10 9 Daddy Yankee & Snow - Con Calma 8 7 Tom Walker - Just You And I 4 Down 6 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up 2 Up 5 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 1 Down 4 Pink - Walk Me Home 1 Up 3 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy 2 Down 2 Avicii & Aloe Blacc - SOS 1 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 1 Up "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi returns to number 1 - this is its sixth (nonconsecutive) week there.
  9. The big problem is that it seems like MTV Europe has started playing a much smaller number of songs on Saturdays - this time they played only 17 songs! And they didn't only skip the songs at the bottom but also the 4 songs placed between number 16 and number 13 ("Sucker", "Boasty", "Con Calma" and "I'm So Tired")...
  10. Thank you very much, sdizda! The edition of the chart broadcast on April 19 is actually the same as the one broadcast on April 20 and April 21. It's just that in the edition broadcast on April 19 MTV Europe showed a "compressed" version of the chart - with the songs presented as a Top 24. On the other hand, on April 20 and April 21 MTV Europe showed the real positions of the songs - with the gaps between them... What's worrying is that when I watched the latest edition of the chart, MTV Europe only played 20 songs - the first one they showed was "Con Altura" by Rosalia and J Balvin at number 29... However, it's actually impressive that at the moment MTV Europe are willing to play so many songs in Spanish - "Con Altura", "Calma", "Con Calma"... ...And speaking of "Con Calma"... This is a new version of Snow's hit "Informer", which spent a total of 3 weeks at number 1 in this chart in 1993. It was also his only single to ever appear in the chart... until now! He's back 26 YEARS LATER!!!
  11. Did anyone manage to watch the chart last week?
  12. IMPORTANT: This week I won't be able to watch the "Euro Top Chart". Would sdizda or someone else be so kind to watch the chart and write it down? MTV Europe broadcasts it 3 times during the week: from 18:00 to 20:00 CET on Friday; from 10:00 to 12:00 CET on Saturday; and from 9:00 to 11:00 CET on Sunday.

Now the "Euro Top Chart" is broadcast from 18:00 to 20:00 CET on Friday; from 10:00 to 12:00 CET on Saturday; and from 9:00 to 11:00 CET on Sunday. This is really a unique occasion as MTV Europe played a total of 28 songs from the chart! They have NEVER played that many songs from a single edition of the chart before! It has happened twice for MTV Europe to play 26 songs... but never 27 songs - let alone 28!!!!!!
  15. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of March 30, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 Halsey - Without Me 5 Down 24 Dean Lewis - Be Alright 23 Jess Glynne - Thursday 2 Down 22 Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire 2 Up 21 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me 3 Down 20 James Bay & Julia Michaels - Peer Pressure 5 Up 19 Wiley, Sean Paul & Stefflon Don - Boasty 18 George Ezra - Hold My Girl 5 Up 17 Dua Lipa - Swan Song Stay => 16 Ariana Grande - 7 Rings 5 Down 15 CamelPhat - Breathe Stay => 14 Panic! 16. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of March 23, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 James Bay & Julia Michaels - Peer Pressure 24 Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire 2 Down 23 George Ezra - Hold My Girl 3 Down 22 Westlife - Hello My Love 3 Down 21 Jess Glynne - Thursday 3 Down 20 Halsey - Without Me 8 Down 19 Marshmello & Bastille - Happier 2 Down 18 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me 2 Down 17 Dua Lipa - Swan Song 2 Down 16 Lauv & Troye Sivan - I'm So Tired... 15 CamelPhat - Breathe 6 Down 14 Zedd & Katy Perry - 365 1 Down 13 Cardi B & Bruno Mars - Please Me 12 Lizzo - Juice 2 Down 11 Ariana Grande - 7 Rings 4 Down 10 Panic! The song doesn't have an official video (yet) so MTV Europe played a live performance. "Shallow" returns to the top for a fourth (nonconsecutive) week there. Its third week at number 1 happened 2 weeks ago. What about the first 2 weeks of its reign at the top? They occurred back at the end of October and the beginning of November 2018!...
  17. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of March 16, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 James Arthur & Anne-Marie - Rewrite The Stars 5 Down 23 Dean Lewis - Be Alright Stay => 22 Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire 10 Down 21 Freya Ridings - Lost Without You 5 Down 20 George Ezra - Hold My Girl 2 Up 19 Westlife - Hello My Love 1 Down 18 Jess Glynne - Thursday 3 Up 17 Marshmello & Bastille - Happier 2 Down 16 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me 1 Up 15 Dua Lipa - Swan Song 5 Up 14 Tom Walker - Just You And I 1 Down 13 Zedd & Katy Perry - 365 12 Halsey - Without Me 3 Down 11 Panic! His previous chart-topper was "Promises", last year's collaboration with Sam Smith (who was at the top just 2 weeks ago with another song - "Dancing With A Stranger"). As for Rag'n'Bone Man - this is his very first number 1. He came really close with "Human", which spent a total of 4 (nonconsecutive) weeks at number 2.
  18. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of March 9, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Post Malone & Swae Lee - Sunflower 2 Down 23 Dean Lewis - Be Alright 2 Down 22 George Ezra - Hold My Girl 2 Down 21 Jess Glynne - Thursday 2 Down 20 Dua Lipa - Swan Song 19 James Arthur & Anne-Marie - Rewrite The Stars 1 Down 18 Westlife - Hello My Love 5 Down 17 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me 2 Down 16 Freya Ridings - Lost Without You 2 Down 15 Marshmello & Bastille - Happier 3 Down 14 Lizzo - Juice 2 Up 13 Tom Walker - Just You And I 4 Up 12 Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire 1 Down 11 Panic! What is the record for the longest time before a song returns to number 1? Here are the 2 instances which might have been joint record holders until now: In 2009, "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas spent a single week at the top, fell down for a week, then returned to number 1 for a second single-week run there. That's not the record - what happened after that is. "I Gotta Feeling" fell down once again and climbed back to the top once again 11 WEEKS LATER. In 1990, "I've Been Thinking About You" by Londonbeat spent an unknown number of weeks at number 1 (there are some missing editions of the chart in the archive) and fell down. It returned to the top in 1991 - either 10 WEEKS LATER (if we only count "normal" editions of the chart) or 11 WEEKS LATER (if we also count the special edition of the chart for the whole year 1990). "Shallow" spent 2 consecutive weeks at the top at the end of October and the beginning of November 2018. Then it fell down and spent some time in the Top 10... In 2019 it fell as low as number 15 but then experienced a remarkable rebirth. Certainly helped by the Oscars, now "Shallow" returns to number 1 either 17 WEEKS (if we only count "normal" editions of the chart) or 18 WEEKS (if we also count the special edition of the chart for the whole year 2018) after it was there last!!!!!! Amazing indeed!
  19. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of March 2, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Rita Ora - Let You Love Me 8 Up 23 Clean Bandit - Baby 7 Up 22 Post Malone & Swae Lee - Sunflower 5 Up 21 Dean Lewis - Be Alright 1 Up 20 George Ezra - Hold My Girl 11 Up 19 Jess Glynne - Thursday 6 Up 18 James Arthur & Anne-Marie - Rewrite The Stars 1 Down 17 Tom Walker - Just You And I 16 Lizzo - Juice 15 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me 5 Up 14 Freya Ridings - Lost Without You 12 Up 13 Westlife - Hello My Love 3 Up 12 Marshmello & Bastille - Happier 1 Down 11 Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire 2 Up 10 Panic! At The Disco - High Hopes Stay => 9 CamelPhat - Breathe 3 Up 8 Jack Savoretti - Candlelight 7 Halsey - Without Me 1 Up 6 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow 3 Up 5 Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus - Nothing Breaks Like A Heart 1 Up 4 Ariana Grande - 7 Rings Stay => 3 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 1 Down 2 Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho 1 Up 1 Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger Stay => I can't help wondering what songs like "Juice" by Lizzo and "Candlelight" by Jack Savoretti are doing in a chart which is supposed to show the songs that are having the most success around Europe...
  20. This week is extremely interesting as there are a lot of differences between this chart and the corresponding edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" when it comes to chart positions. The songs that are notably placed higher in the "Euro Top Chart" are "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi, "Don't Call Me Up" by Mabel and "Breathe". Oh, and when it comes to "Breathe", it's not supposed to be the song by Jax Jones - it should be another song titled "Breathe" by CamelPhat. It seems like MTV Italy are making the same mistake as with Marshmello and Bastille's "Happier", which they pretended was the song by Ed Sheeran.
  21. As for Normani - this is her first chart-topper ever.
  22. Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of February 16, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 Ellie Goulding - Close To Me 8 Up 24 David Guetta & Bebe Rexha - Say My Name 7 Up 23 Jonas Blue & Liam Payne - Polaroid 7 Up 22 CamelPhat - Breathe 21 George Ezra - Hold My Girl 20 Fleur East - Favourite Thing 9 Up 19 Rita Ora - Let You Love Me 9 Up 18 Clean Bandit - Baby 4 Up 17 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me 8 Up 16 Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire 8 Up 15 Marshmello & Bastille - Happier 5 Up 14 Post Malone & Swae Lee - Sunflower 4 Up 13 Dean Lewis - Be Alright 8 Up 12 Jess Glynne - Thursday 7 Up 11 James Arthur & Anne-Marie - Rewrite The Stars 3 Up 10 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow 5 Up 9 Westlife - Hello My Love 3 Down 8 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 9 Up 7 Panic! If I'm not mistaken, this is only the second time they have played that many songs from a single edition of the chart! I certainly approve of this - especially when they are willing to play the new songs that are doing well across Europe!
  24. At The Disco - High Hopes 2 Down 4 Halsey - Without Me 1 Up 3 Westlife - Hello My Love 2 Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus - Nothing Breaks Like A Heart Stay => 1 Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho Stay => MTV Europe played "Thursday" by Jess Glynne and showed it as number 9; then they played "Shallow" by Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper... and also showed it as number 9! When we take into consideration the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20", it's obvious that "Shallow" is supposed to be at number 8. There is a very mysterious appearance of "Power Over Me" by Dermot Kennedy at number 33. From what I could find, the song has appeared in the singles chart of only 2 European countries - Germany (with a peak position of number 59) and Sweden (with a peak position of number 56)... Weslife are back! They were last seen in this chart at the beginning of 2003 with "Unbreakable". Now "Hello My Love" appears at number 3 - and thus becomes their second highest charting song ever! Only "Uptown Girl" reached a higher peak position - number 2. Oh, and their very first song to reach the chart was "If I Let You Go" back in 1999 - 20 years ago!
  25. At The Disco - High Hopes 16 Up 2 Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus - Nothing Breaks Like A Heart 1 Down 1 Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho 2 Up "Sweet But Psycho" by Ava Max returns to number 1 - this is its fifth (nonconsecutive) week there. Now the song has had 3 separate runs at the top. In the previous edition of the chart I commented about the peculiar chart run of "Happier" by Marshmello and Bastille. Now "High Hopes" by Panic! At The Disco experiences something similar. "High Hopes" first appeared in this chart in September 2018, later it climbed as high as number 6 and started falling. It fell as low as number 19 - exactly in the previous edition of the chart. However, now it jumps 16 places up to reach a new peak position of number 3!
