Since I have no way of knowing at which position between number 27 and number 23 the song is, I haven't listed it in this edition of the chart at all.
  2. No, I'm afraid I don't have access to MTV Italy - I can only watch MTV Europe. So I have no idea whether MTV Italy still broadcast the "Euro Top 20" chart or they only show it on their website...

  6. I missed the previous week's edition of the chart but it seems like "Can't Stop The Feeling!" by Justin Timberlake was number 1 then, too.
  7. IMPORTANT: This weekend I won't be able to watch the "Euro Top Chart". Would someone be so kind to watch the chart and write it down? MTV Europe broadcasts it 3 times during the weekend: from 12:00 to 14:00 CET on Saturday; from 19:00 to 21:00 CET on Saturday; and from 12:00 to 14:00 CET on Sunday.
  8. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of June 4, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 Major Lazer - Light It Up 13 Up 32 31 Rihanna - Kiss It Better 2 Up 30 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 2 Down 29 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 28 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 6 Down 27 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 4 Down 26 25 24 Jennifer Lopez - Ain't Your Mama 23 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 1 Up 22 21 Reggie 'N' Bollie - New Girl 20 19 Lukas Graham - 7 Years 18 Will.I.Am & Pia Mia - Boys & Girls Stay => 17 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 2 Down 16 Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 4 Up 15 Little Mix & Sean Paul - Hair 1 Down 14 Pink - Just Like Fire 5 Up 13 Fifth Harmony - Work From Home 2 Down 12 Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence 4 Up 11 Meghan Trainor - No 2 Down 10 Alan Walker - Faded 9 8 Frans - If I Were Sorry 7 6 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 1 Down 5 4 3 Sia - Cheap Thrills 1 Down 2 Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl 6 Up 1 Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling! Stay => I think I'll continue to present the chart as a Top 40 except in cases when MTV Europe specifically plays songs placed below the Top 40 during an edition. This time MTV Europe played "7 Years" by Lukas Graham - for the first time since the chart of April 16! And "7 Years" was still in the chart during this whole time - it's just that MTV Europe for some reason was skipping it week after week... However, the most remarkable thing in this edition of the "Euro Top Chart" is the appearance of "If I Were Sorry" by Frans - the song that represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016... In some previous years a Eurovision song entered MTV Europe's European chart - for example, last year "Heroes" by Måns Zelmerlöw appeared, too... But all those songs were actually Eurovision winners! While "If I Were Sorry" only finished fifth... If I'm not seriously mistaken, the last (and possibly only) time a Eurovision song that wasn't a winner entered MTV Europe's European chart was in 1990 - "White And Black Blues" by Joelle Ursull (which represented France and finished second)!
  9. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of May 28, 2016: 50 49 48 47 Elle King - Ex's & Oh's 46 Major Lazer - Light It Up 10 Down 45 44 43 42 41 40 39 38 Jay Sean & Sean Paul - Make My Love Go 10 Down 37 DJ Snake - Middle 13 Down 36 Walking On Cars - Speeding Cars 35 34 33 Rihanna - Kiss It Better 32 31 30 29 28 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 3 Down 27 26 25 The Chainsmokers & ROZES - Roses 1 Up 24 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 23 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 1 Down 22 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 9 Down 21 20 Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 14 Up 19 Pink - Just Like Fire 2 Up 18 Will.I.Am & Pia Mia - Boys & Girls 9 Up 17 16 Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence 2 Up 15 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 5 Down 14 Little Mix & Sean Paul - Hair 2 Down 13 12 11 Fifth Harmony - Work From Home 10 9 Meghan Trainor - No Stay => 8 Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl Stay => 7 6 5 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 1 Down 4 3 2 Sia - Cheap Thrills 1 Down 1 Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling! Things just got stranger... This is the first time since I started watching this "version" of the chart in February 2014 that MTV Europe plays songs placed below the Top 40... Is this chart a Top 50 or even bigger?... "Can't Stop The Feeling!" is the new chart-topper and Justin Timberlake's first appearance in the "Euro Top Chart" since his duet with Michael Jackson - "Love Never Felt So Good" - reached number 9 in 2014... No European chart was broadcast on MTV Europe in 2013 - I wonder whether "Mirrors" would have become number 1 otherwise...
  10. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of May 21, 2016: 40 39 38 Radiohead - Burn The Witch 37 36 Major Lazer - Light It Up 35 G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself & I 13 Down 34 Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 2 Down 33 Years And Years - Desire 4 Down 32 31 30 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself 29 28 Jay Sean & Sean Paul - Make My Love Go 27 Will.I.Am & Pia Mia - Boys & Girls 3 Up 26 The Chainsmokers & ROZES - Roses 8 Down 25 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 9 Down 24 DJ Snake - Middle 23 22 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 5 Down 21 Pink - Just Like Fire 20 19 18 Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence 6 Up 17 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend 2 Down 16 15 14 13 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 1 Up 12 Little Mix & Sean Paul - Hair 13 Up 11 10 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out Stay => 9 Meghan Trainor - No Stay => 8 Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl 3 Up 7 6 5 Alan Walker - Faded 2 Down 4 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 1 Up 3 2 1 Sia - Cheap Thrills Stay =>
  11. The "Euro Top 20" chart is broadcast on MTV Italy - or at least it appears on the MTV Italy website. The "Euro Top Chart" (which is supposedly a Top 40) is broadcast on MTV Europe. Its upper part is usually (almost) the same as MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" but some songs are skipped and MTV Europe play some songs that are placed below the Top 20.
  12. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of May 14, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 Walking On Cars - Speeding Cars 32 Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 6 Down 31 30 Will.I.Am & Pia Mia - Boys & Girls 29 Years And Years - Desire 28 27 26 Shawn Mendes - Stitches 1 Down 25 Little Mix & Sean Paul - Hair 24 Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence 23 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 1 Down 22 G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself & I 11 Up 21 20 19 18 The Chainsmokers & ROZES - Roses 1 Down 17 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 1 Down 16 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 2 Down 15 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend Stay => 14 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 3 Down 13 12 11 Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl 12 Up 10 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 1 Down 9 Meghan Trainor - No 1 Up 8 7 Prince - Purple Rain 6 Down 6 5 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 2 Up 4 3 Alan Walker - Faded 2 Up 2 1 Sia - Cheap Thrills 2 Up It's great to see "This Girl" by Kungs and Cookin' On 3 Burners in this chart - a song that hasn't appeared in the UK singles chart but otherwise is doing well around Europe!
  13. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of May 7, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 Zayn - Pillowtalk 11 Down 33 G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself & I 11 Down 32 Sigala - Say You Do 7 Down 31 30 DJ Snake - Middle Stay => 29 Major Lazer - Light It Up 9 Down 28 27 26 Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 25 Shawn Mendes - Stitches 8 Down 24 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself 9 Down 23 Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl 22 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 8 Down 21 20 19 18 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 6 Down 17 The Chainsmokers & ROZES - Roses 4 Down 16 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 5 Up 15 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend 4 Down 14 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 4 Down 13 12 11 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 2 Down 10 Meghan Trainor - No 2 Down 9 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 8 7 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 3 Down 6 5 Alan Walker - Faded 3 Down 4 3 Sia - Cheap Thrills 2 Down 2 1 Prince - Purple Rain Prince appeared for the last time in MTV Europe's European chart at the beginning of 1997 with "Betcha By Golly Wow!". He last reached the top of the chart in 1991 with "Gett Off". ...And now he becomes number 1 with "Purple Rain", originally released in 1984 - before MTV Europe even existed...
  14. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of April 30, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 Adele - When We Were Young 30 DJ Snake - Middle 29 28 Jay Sean & Sean Paul - Make My Love Go 27 Rihanna & Drake - Work 26 25 Sigala - Say You Do 24 Elle King - Ex's & Oh's 23 Zayn - Pillowtalk 22 G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself & I 21 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 20 Major Lazer - Light It Up 19 Years And Years - Desire 18 17 Shawn Mendes - Stitches 16 15 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself 1 Down 14 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 2 Down 13 The Chainsmokers & ROZES - Roses 12 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 1 Down 11 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend 1 Down 10 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 3 Up 9 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 2 Down 8 Meghan Trainor - No Stay => 7 6 5 4 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 1 Down 3 Fifth Harmony - Work From Home 2 Up 2 Alan Walker - Faded 1 Down 1 Sia - Cheap Thrills 1 Up "Cheap Thrills" becomes Sia's first number 1 as a main artist in MTV Europe's European chart. It's her second chart-topper in total after her collaboration with David Guetta "Titanium".
  15. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of April 23, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 19 18 17 16 15 14 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself Stay => 13 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 3 Up 12 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 11 Up 11 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 2 Down 10 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend 3 Down 9 8 Meghan Trainor - No 2 Up 7 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 1 Down 6 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 2 Down 5 Fifth Harmony - Work From Home 2 Down 4 3 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 1 Down 2 Sia - Cheap Thrills 9 Up 1 Alan Walker - Faded Stay => This time MTV Europe only played 12 songs. During the other hour usually dedicated to the chart, they played a Prince tribute...
  16. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of April 16, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 Little Mix & Jason Derulo - Secret Love Song Stay => 24 The Chainsmokers & ROZES - Roses 23 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself Stay => 22 Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 21 Adele - When We Were Young 1 Up 20 Rihanna & Drake - Work 8 Down 19 AlunaGeorge - I'm In Control 7 Up 18 Elle King - Ex's & Oh's 3 Up 17 Major Lazer - Light It Up 3 Up 16 Blonde & Craig David - Nothing Like This 15 Shawn Mendes - Stitches 1 Up 14 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself 1 Up 13 G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself & I 1 Up 12 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 6 Down 11 Sia - Cheap Thrills 10 Meghan Trainor - No 9 Up 9 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 9 Up 8 7 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend 1 Up 6 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 7 Up 5 Lukas Graham - 7 Years 4 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 3 Up 3 Fifth Harmony - Work From Home 1 Down 2 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 1 Down 1 Alan Walker - Faded 2 Up What's strange is that at the time this edition of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" was broadcast, there wasn't yet an official video for "Nothing Like This" by Blonde and Craig David. What MTV Europe played seemed to be a live studio performance of the song...
  17. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of April 9, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 Flo Rida - My House 1 Down 28 Fleur East - Sax 27 Birdy - Keeping Your Head Up 26 AlunaGeorge - I'm In Control 5 Down 25 Little Mix & Jason Derulo - Secret Love Song 9 Down 24 23 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 9 Down 22 Adele - When We Were Young 5 Up 21 Elle King - Ex's & Oh's 2 Down 20 Major Lazer - Light It Up 9 Down 19 Meghan Trainor - No 18 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 12 Down 17 16 Shawn Mendes - Stitches 1 Down 15 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself 3 Down 14 G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself & I 5 Down 13 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like Stay => 12 Rihanna & Drake - Work 5 Down 11 10 9 James Bay - Best Fake Smile 8 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend 2 Up 7 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 3 Down 6 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 1 Down 5 Sigala - Say You Do 4 3 Alan Walker - Faded 1 Down 2 Fifth Harmony - Work From Home 1 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza Stay => In the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" chart "Cheap Thrills" by Sia is at number 10 and "Cake By The Ocean" by DNCE is at number 11. It's actually a common occurrence that some songs appearing in MTV Italy's chart are skipped in MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart"... However, the opposite case - a song played in (the upper part of) this chart NOT to appear in the corresponding edition of MTV Italy's chart - is extremely rare. In fact, I can think of just one such previous example... Yet "Best Fake Smile" by James Bay, which appears at number 9 here, is nowhere to be seen in MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20"!!! What a mystery!...
  18. Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of April 2, 2016: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 The Chainsmokers & ROZES - Roses 3 Down 30 Years And Years - Desire 29 Sigala - Sweet Lovin' 3 Down 28 Flo Rida - My House 5 Down 27 Adele - When We Were Young 14 Down 26 25 24 23 22 Jason Derulo - Get Ugly 2 Down 21 AlunaGeorge - I'm In Control 20 Zayn - Pillowtalk 8 Down 19 Elle King - Ex's & Oh's 3 Down 18 17 16 Little Mix & Jason Derulo - Secret Love Song 2 Down 15 Shawn Mendes - Stitches 4 Down 14 Justin Bieber - Love Yourself 4 Down 13 Tinie Tempah & Zara Larsson - Girls Like 12 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself 11 Major Lazer - Light It Up 2 Down 10 Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend 3 Down 9 G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself & I 12 Up 8 7 Rihanna & Drake - Work 1 Down 6 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 1 Down 5 Jonas Blue & Dakota - Fast Car 1 Down 4 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 1 Down 3 Lukas Graham - 7 Years 2 Alan Walker - Faded 1 Down 1 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza 1 Up Mike Posner scores his first number 1 with "I Took A Pill In Ibiza". He previously appeared in MTV Europe's European chart in 2010 with "Cooler Than Me", which reached number 8. Shockingly (and undeservedly), a year later - in 2011 - he peaked at number 6 with his duet with Cher Lloyd "With Ur Love".
  19. 20. This is an evidence that a song can be a chart-topper if it's doing well across Europe even though it hasn't had that much success in the UK chart (yet). And right now I can't even think of any other Norwegian act who has been number 1 in MTV Europe's European chart (I'm not counting single Norwegian members in groups from other countries)... It's also nice that MTV Europe have finally started playing "Light It Up" by Major Lazer, although quite some time after it first appeared in MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" chart... And it's remarkable that "When We Were Young" by Adele appears in this chart in spite of not having an official video! MTV Europe played a live performance of the song.
