MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2015
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of September 26, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Selena Gomez - Good For You 2 Down 23 Sigma & Ella Henderson - Glitterball 3 Down 22 Years And Years - Shine 21 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 2 Up 20 Silentó - Watch Me 2 Down 19 Birdy - Wings 18 Taylor Swift - Wildest Dreams 3 Up 17 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me 16 One Direction - Drag Me Down 6 Down 15 Martin Solveig - Intoxicated 1 Down 14 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 3 Down 13 Pia Mia - Do It Again 3 Up 12 Demi Lovato - Cool For The Summer 8 Down 11 Macklemore - Downtown 1 Up 10 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 2 Down 9 Felix Jaehn & Jasmine Thompson - Ain't Nobody 2 Down 8 R. City & Adam Levine - Locked Away 7 Charlie Puth & Meghan Trainor - Marvin Gaye 1 Down 6 Galantis - Peanut Butter Jelly 3 Up 5 The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face 3 Down 4 Jess Glynne - Don't Be So Hard On Yourself 1 Up 3 Justin Bieber - What Do You Mean? 2 Sigala - Easy Love 1 Calvin Harris - How Deep Is Your Love Stay => MTV Europe have finally started playing "What Do You Mean?" by Justin Bieber - although they didn't play it while it was at number 1, instead pretending that the song didn't exist... On the other hand, something seems to have gone wrong with MTV Europe's broadcasting of the chart again. You might notice that "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten was at number 3 in the previous edition of the chart but is nowhere to be seen here. So did MTV skip the song this time? Well, not actually - they played it but not as a part of the chart!... In each broadcasting of the chart, MTV Europe plays several songs and then there is an "advertisement period". What happened was that MTV played "Can't Feel My Face" by The Weeknd (shown as number 5); then the "advertisement period" started and during it MTV Europe played "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten!... And when the "advertisement period" ended, they played "Don't Be So Hard On Yourself" by Jess Glynne (shown as number 4)... And then I realized that MTV had done a similar thing the previous week, when they played "Easy Love" by Sigala as a part of the "advertisement period" between positions number 5 and 4... It would be nice if MTV Europe found some way to correct this in the future!...

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2015
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of September 19, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Sam Feldt - Show Me Love 2 Down 23 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 1 Up 22 Selena Gomez - Good For You 1 Down 21 Taylor Swift - Wildest Dreams 20 Sigma & Ella Henderson - Glitterball 4 Down 19 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On 5 Down 18 Silentó - Watch Me 8 Down 17 Avicii - Waiting For Love Stay => 16 Pia Mia - Do It Again 2 Up 15 Lost Frequencies - Reality 2 Down 14 Martin Solveig - Intoxicated 2 Down 13 Labrinth - Jealous 12 Macklemore - Downtown 11 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance Stay => 10 One Direction - Drag Me Down 2 Down 9 Galantis - Peanut Butter Jelly 6 Up 8 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 1 Up 7 Felix Jaehn & Jasmine Thompson - Ain't Nobody 4 Down 6 Charlie Puth & Meghan Trainor - Marvin Gaye Stay => 5 Jess Glynne - Don't Be So Hard On Yourself 1 Down 4 Demi Lovato - Cool For The Summer 3 Up 3 Rachel Platten - Fight Song 1 Down 2 The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face 3 Up 1 Calvin Harris - How Deep Is Your Love Stay => "Jealous" by Labrinth appears again in the chart 8 months later... Why do I get the feeling that the only reason for this is that the song reappeared at number 25 in the UK chart a few weeks ago?... And can a number 25 placing in a single chart be enough to score a number 13 position in a (supposedly) pan-European chart?...

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2015
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of September 12, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 9 Down 23 Disclosure & Sam Smith - Omen 4 Down 22 Sam Feldt - Show Me Love 5 Down 21 Selena Gomez - Good For You 20 Years And Years - Shine 14 Down 19 Little Mix - Black Magic 11 Down 18 Pia Mia - Do It Again 2 Up 17 Avicii - Waiting For Love 3 Down 16 Sigma & Ella Henderson - Glitterball Stay => 15 Galantis - Peanut Butter Jelly 5 Down 14 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On 2 Down 13 Lost Frequencies - Reality Stay => 12 Martin Solveig - Intoxicated 11 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance Stay => 10 Silentó - Watch Me 9 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 4 Down 8 One Direction - Drag Me Down 1 Up 7 Demi Lovato - Cool For The Summer 6 Charlie Puth & Meghan Trainor - Marvin Gaye 3 Down 5 The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face 1 Down 4 Jess Glynne - Don't Be So Hard On Yourself 3 Down 3 Felix Jaehn & Jasmine Thompson - Ain't Nobody 2 Rachel Platten - Fight Song 5 Up 1 Calvin Harris - How Deep Is Your Love 1 Up It's nice that MTV Europe have started playing "Ain't Nobody" by Felix Jaehn and Jasmine Thompson (after so many weeks)... HOWEVER... In an edition of the chart several months ago MTV pretended that the chart-topper at the time ("Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo) didn't exist and showed the actual number 2 - "Five More Hours" by Deorro and Chris Brown - as being the number 1... Well, now the same has happened again! According to MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20", the number 1 this week is "Do You Mean?" by Justin Bieber. But MTV Europe didn't play the song at all! They presented the song that is actually at number 2 - "How Deep Is Your Love" by Calvin Harris - as this week's chart-topper... Yet this is not really that bad. Judging by its success around Europe, "How Deep Is Your Love" is one of the most deserving number ones in this chart in 2015!...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of September 5, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Skrillex, Diplo & Justin Bieber - Where Are Ü Now 4 Down 23 Kygo & Parson James - Stole The Show 5 Down 22 Tinie Tempah & Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go 7 Down 21 Flo Rida & Robin Thicke - I Don't Like It, I Love It 4 Down 20 Pia Mia - Do It Again 19 Disclosure & Sam Smith - Omen 14 Down 18 OMI - Cheerleader 17 Sam Feldt - Show Me Love 8 Down 16 Sigma & Ella Henderson - Glitterball 14 Down 15 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 2 Down 14 Avicii - Waiting For Love 6 Down 13 Lost Frequencies - Reality 12 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On Stay => 11 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 1 Down 10 Galantis - Peanut Butter Jelly 9 One Direction - Drag Me Down 8 Little Mix - Black Magic 2 Down 7 Rachel Platten - Fight Song 6 Years And Years - Shine 2 Down 5 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 14 Up 4 The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face 3 Down 3 Charlie Puth & Meghan Trainor - Marvin Gaye 2 Calvin Harris - How Deep Is Your Love 1 Up 1 Jess Glynne - Don't Be So Hard On Yourself MTV Europe have finally started playing "Reality" by Lost Frequencies! They obviously didn't want to play both "Are You With Me" and "Reality" so they have now decided to switch from the former to the latter... 2015 seems to be a good year for Jess Glynne in this chart. She has already scored 2 number ones - "Hold My Hand" and "Not Letting Go" with Tinie Tempah... and now she adds a third chart-topper to her achievements with "Don't Be So Hard On Yourself"... The question is: should MTV change the name of the chart to the "UK Chart"?!...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of August 29, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Pharrell Williams - Freedom 23 Feder & Lyse - Goodbye 22 James Bay - Let It Go 1 Down 21 David Guetta & Nicki Minaj - Hey Mama 1 Down 20 Skrillex, Diplo & Justin Bieber - Where Are Ü Now 19 Ed Sheeran - Photograph Stay => 18 Kygo & Parson James - Stole The Show 9 Down 17 Flo Rida & Robin Thicke - I Don't Like It, I Love It 4 Down 16 Fifth Harmony - Worth It 8 Up 15 Tinie Tempah & Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go 3 Down 14 David Zowie - House Every Weekend 7 Down 13 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 2 Up 12 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On 2 Up 11 John Newman - Come And Get It 10 Down 10 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 6 Up 9 Sam Feldt - Show Me Love 7 Down 8 Avicii - Waiting For Love Stay => 7 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me 1 Down 6 Little Mix - Black Magic 3 Down 5 Disclosure & Sam Smith - Omen 4 Years And Years - Shine 1 Up 3 Calvin Harris - How Deep Is Your Love 1 Up 2 Sigma & Ella Henderson - Glitterball 1 The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face 17 Up The chart-toppers are yo-yoing in this edition of the chart! The previous number 1, "Come And Get It" by John Newman, falls 10 places to number 11... and is replaced by "Can't Feel My Face" by The Weekend, which climbs 17 places! Judging by how it's doing across Europe, "Can't Feel My Face" is among the more deserving number ones this year (which is not saying much)... It's also a personal best for The Weekend, who improves on the number 2 peak position of "Earned It".

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2015
"Waiting For Love" by Avicii is actually a re-entry - it spent a week at number 20 in the chart of July 4. Even more curiously, "Wings" by Birdy is also a re-entry - it seems like it spent several weeks in the chart at the end of 2013/beginning of 2014!

Last week's puzzling number 1 - "I Don't Like It, I Love It" - falls 14 places to number 15... While this week's new chart-topper - "Shine" by Years And Years - climbs from number 14... I'm not even sure there has ever been a case before when a song jumped to number 1 from outside the Top 10... while SIMULTANEOUSLY the previous chart-topper went straight out of the Top 10!!! This is the second number 1 for Years And Years in this chart after "King"... which itself wasn't THAT successful across Europe... but for now "Shine" is much, much less deserving of the top spot...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of July 25, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 Madcon - Don't Worry 33 Selena Gomez - Good For You 25 Down 32 Galantis - Runaway 6 Down 31 30 29 28 27 LunchMoney Lewis - Bills 4 Down 26 Avicii - Waiting For Love 1 Up 25 24 23 Skrillex, Diplo & Justin Bieber - Where Are Ü Now 22 21 OMI - Cheerleader 2 Down 20 19 Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth - See You Again 6 Down 18 Fetty Wap - Trap Queen 4 Down 17 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 7 Down 16 David Guetta & Nicki Minaj - Hey Mama 1 Up 15 14 Years And Years - Shine 13 Deorro & Chris Brown - Five More Hours 6 Down 12 Fifth Harmony - Worth It 11 10 Kygo & Parson James - Stole The Show 6 Up 9 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 6 Down 8 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On 1 Up 7 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me 1 Down 6 James Bay - Let It Go 6 Up 5 4 Rita Ora - Poison 14 Up 3 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 1 Down 2 Tinie Tempah & Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go 1 Down 1 Flo Rida & Robin Thicke - I Don't Like It, I Love It 3 Up On the one hand, it's good that MTV Europe is finally playing some songs -"Don't Worry" by Madcon, "Where Are Ü Now" by Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber (even if they have already left the Top 20 of the chart)... On the other hand, "I Don't Like It, I Love It" by Flo Rida and Robin Thicke replaces "Not Letting Go" by Tinie Tempah and Jess Glynne as the new chart-topper... Just how many illogical number ones are there going to be this year???

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2015
Again, there are some differences between the positions in this chart and MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" - although the sequence of the songs appearing in both charts is the same... I wish I knew what the logic behind these differences is...

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2015
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of July 18, 2015: 40 39 38 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 5 Down 37 36 35 34 Maroon 5 - This Summer's Gonna Hurt 33 Robin Schulz - Headlights 32 Years And Years - King 31 30 29 28 27 Avicii - Waiting For Love 1 Up 26 Galantis - Runaway 7 Down 25 24 23 LunchMoney Lewis - Bills 6 Down 22 21 Jess Glynne - Hold My Hand 1 Down 20 19 OMI - Cheerleader 1 Down 18 Rita Ora - Poison 6 Up 17 David Guetta & Nicki Minaj - Hey Mama 6 Down 16 Kygo & Parson James - Stole The Show 1 Down 15 14 Fetty Wap - Trap Queen 2 Down 13 Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth - See You Again 3 Down 12 James Bay - Let It Go 1 Up 11 10 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 6 Up 9 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On 3 Down 8 Selena Gomez - Good For You Stay => 7 Deorro & Chris Brown - Five More Hours Stay => 6 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me 5 Down 5 4 Flo Rida & Robin Thicke - I Don't Like It, I Love It 1 Up 3 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 1 Down 2 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 2 Up 1 Tinie Tempah & Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go 2 Up At last MTV Europe played "Headlights" by Robin Schulz - a long time after it left the Top 20 of the chart... However, the new number 1 is completely undeserving (for now)... "Not Letting Go" by Tinie Tempah and Jess Glynne is only having success in the UK...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of July 11, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 4 Down 32 31 Natalie La Rose & Jeremih - Somebody 12 Down 30 29 28 Avicii - Waiting For Love 11 Down 27 26 Jessie J - Flashlight 6 Down 25 24 Rita Ora - Poison 23 22 21 20 Jess Glynne - Hold My Hand 19 Galantis - Runaway 7 Down 18 OMI - Cheerleader 4 Down 17 LunchMoney Lewis - Bills 4 Down 16 Ed Sheeran - Photograph Stay => 15 Kygo & Parson James - Stole The Show 5 Down 14 13 James Bay - Let It Go 12 Fetty Wap - Trap Queen 4 Down 11 David Guetta & Nicki Minaj - Hey Mama 7 Down 10 Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth - See You Again 3 Down 9 8 Selena Gomez - Good For You 7 Deorro & Chris Brown - Five More Hours 6 Down 6 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On 3 Down 5 Flo Rida & Robin Thicke - I Don't Like It, I Love It 4 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 1 Up 3 Tinie Tempah & Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go 6 Up 2 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 1 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me 1 Up MTV Europe actually showed "Cheerleader" by OMI as number 17... but then they showed "Bills" by LunchMoney Lewis as number 17 as well!!! That's illogical so I'm considering "Cheerleader" as being number 18 in this edition of the chart. On the other hand, it was nice to see MTV Europe play songs they had previously skipped - "Hold My Hand" by Jesse Glynne, after a long period of ignoring it; and, thankfully, "Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo - the actual number 1 last week, which, however, MTV Europe pretended didn't exist then!... And there is an impressive new number 1, "Are You With Me" by Lost Frequencies! What's so impressive about its achievement? Well, it climbed as high as number 3 three months ago (in the chart of April 11), then it started falling... reaching as low as number 20 two editions of the chart ago... and now it has conquered the top spot! What a journey!

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2015
This time there are a lot of differences between the positions in this chart and MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" (although the sequence of the songs appearing in both charts is the same). The most shocking difference is that MTV Europe seem to pretend that "Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo doesn't exist so "Five More Hours" by Deorro and Chris Brown is at number 1...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of July 4, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 Adam Lambert - Ghost Town 31 30 Rudimental - Never Let You Go 1 Down 29 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 2 Down 28 27 Zedd & Selena Gomez - I Want You To Know 11 Down 26 Martin Garrix & Usher - Don't Look Down 3 Down 25 24 Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You Stay => 23 22 Britney Spears - Pretty Girls 21 20 Jessie J - Flashlight 5 Down 19 Natalie La Rose & Jeremih - Somebody 13 Down 18 17 Avicii - Waiting For Love 16 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 10 Up 15 14 OMI - Cheerleader 1 Down 13 LunchMoney Lewis - Bills 1 Up 12 Galantis - Runaway Stay => 11 10 Kygo & Parson James - Stole The Show 1 Down 9 Tinie Tempah & Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go 8 Fetty Wap - Trap Queen 7 Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth - See You Again 1 Up 6 5 Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 1 Down 4 David Guetta & Nicki Minaj - Hey Mama 1 Up 3 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On Stay => 2 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me 18 Up 1 Deorro & Chris Brown - Five More Hours 27 Up I'm not sure I've seen anything as absurd before in this chart... According to MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20", the number 1 this week is the same song as last week - "Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo. However, MTV Europe didn't play it at all this time!... If they had just skipped the number 1 position, that would have been tragic, of course... But they did something even more flabbergasting - they pretended that "Want To Want Me" doesn't exist and so each song below it moved a place higher! ...And, as a result, the song which is actually at number 2 is presented as our new chart-topper!? I think "Five More Hours" by Deorro and Chris Brown will remain as a "false" number 1 in the history of the chart...

However, in this edition of the chart "Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo returns to number 1... and, just like two weeks earlier, MTV Europe skipped "Bad Blood"... What I'm really curious about is whether MTV Europe actually played "Bad Blood" at least when it climbed to the top?... Or maybe they (for the first time?) skipped the number 1!?...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of June 13, 2015: 40 39 38 37 Florence & The Machine - Ship To Wreck 36 Ed Sheeran - Photograph 35 34 33 32 Ella Eyre - Together 31 30 29 Maroon 5 - Sugar 4 Down 28 Years And Years - King 8 Down 27 Blonde - All Cried Out 9 Down 26 Ne-Yo - She Knows 25 24 23 Hozier - Someone New 8 Down 22 Ariana Grande - One Last Time 6 Up 21 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 2 Down 20 Kygo & Parson James - Stole The Show 19 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me 3 Down 18 17 Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You 3 Down 16 15 Natalie La Rose & Jeremih - Somebody 14 13 Martin Garrix & Usher - Don't Look Down 12 11 Galantis - Runaway 9 Down 10 Jessie J - Flashlight 25 Up 9 Måns Zelmerlöw - Heroes 8 OMI - Cheerleader 3 Down 7 6 Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ - Lean On 1 Up 5 LunchMoney Lewis - Bills 2 Down 4 David Guetta & Nicki Minaj - Hey Mama Stay => 3 Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth - See You Again 2 Down 2 1 Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me 5 Up Once again, MTV Europe have scandalously skipped the song at number 2 (supposedly "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift)! In these past two editions of the chart they have also inexplicably been skipping "Hold My Hand" by Jess Glynne, even though it's still in the Top 20... However, the biggest news is that "Heroes" by Måns Zelmerlöw appears at number 9!!! This is the first time the Eurovision winner enters the chart since 2012... when it was another Swedish song that did it - "Euphoria" by Loreen (which peaked at number 4).

I think this is too big a coincidence... I have the feeling that MTV Europe made some mistake last week...

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2015
This was a strange week. The SEQUENCE of songs in this chart and MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" is the same. However, the particular positions of many songs are actually different. For example, everything below "Sugar" by Maroon 5 is outside the Top 20 in MTV Europe's chart...

And I haven't checked but I think MØ is the first Danish chart-topper since Aqua reached number 1 with "Cartoon Heroes" in 2000 (in the good old "real" MTV European Top 20)...

This week the songs at number 19 and number 20 here are different from the songs at number 19 and number 20 in MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" - "Style" by Taylor Swift and "Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo, respectively.
