MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2015
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of January 24, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 Ariana Grande & The Weeknd - Love Me Harder 28 Sigma & Paloma Faith - Changing 27 Blonde - I Loved You 3 Down 26 25 24 Oliver Heldens - Last All Night 10 Down 23 Sia - Elastic Heart 22 21 George Ezra - Blame It On Me 3 Down 20 One Direction - Night Changes 8 Down 19 18 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 5 Down 17 Take That - These Days 7 Down 16 Ben Haenow - Something I Need 15 14 Echosmith - Cool Kids 7 Up 13 12 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 1 Down 11 Alesso & Tove Lo - Heroes 4 Down 10 Clean Bandit - Real Love 6 Up 9 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 1 Down 8 Tchami - Promesses 7 David Guetta - Dangerous 2 Down 6 Olly Murs & Demi Lovato - Up 4 Down 5 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 2 Down 4 Philip George - Wish You Were Mine 3 Taylor Swift - Blank Space 1 Up 2 Hozier - Take Me To Church 1 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! Stay => I knew that it was just a matter of time! MTV Europe weren't so shameless as to skip the number 2 - so they FINALLY played "Take Me To Church" by Hozier! They did make a compromise - they obviously consider the video too controversial so they played a live performance of the song (although the original video can be seen at times on the wall behind Hozier)... And I really hoped that "Something I Need" by Ben Haenow wouldn't appear in the chart but at least it's not in the Top 10...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of January 17, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 Labrinth - Jealous 5 Down 26 25 Sia - Chandelier 24 Blonde - I Loved You 9 Down 23 Kwabs - Walk 4 Down 22 21 Echosmith - Cool Kids 20 Parra For Cuva - Wicked Games 4 Up 19 18 George Ezra - Blame It On Me 17 OneRepublic - I Lived 6 Up 16 Clean Bandit - Real Love Stay => 15 Idina Menzel - Let It Go 14 Oliver Heldens - Last All Night 6 Down 13 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 5 Up 12 One Direction - Night Changes 5 Down 11 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 1 Up 10 Take That - These Days 6 Down 9 8 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 2 Up 7 Alesso & Tove Lo - Heroes 6 5 David Guetta - Dangerous Stay => 4 Taylor Swift - Blank Space 2 Down 3 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud Stay => 2 Olly Murs & Demi Lovato - Up 1 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! Stay => Olly Murs shockingly scores a second consecutive number 2 in the chart with the duet with Demi Lovato, "Up" (a few weeks ago "Wrapped Up" also reached number 2)... And the appearance of "Let It Go" by Idina Menzel at number 15 is very, very curious...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of January 10, 2015: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 Bring Me The Horizon - Drown 30 29 28 27 Union J - You Got It All 20 Down 26 Tove Lo - Habits 3 Down 25 Lilly Wood & The Prick - Prayer In C 24 Parra For Cuva - Wicked Games 23 OneRepublic - I Lived 3 Up 22 Labrinth - Jealous 2 Down 21 AronChupa - I'm An Albatraoz 2 Down 20 Fifth Harmony - BO$$ 19 Kwabs - Walk 5 Up 18 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One Stay => 17 Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat 3 Down 16 Clean Bandit - Real Love 7 Down 15 Blonde - I Loved You 14 13 12 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 1 Down 11 10 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass Stay => 9 Olly Murs - Wrapped Up 5 Down 8 Oliver Heldens - Last All Night 7 One Direction - Night Changes 6 5 David Guetta - Dangerous 2 Down 4 Take That - These Days 2 Up 3 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 2 Down 2 Taylor Swift - Blank Space Stay => 1 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 16 Up What's fantastic is that this time MTV Europe played 24 songs - I think this is the first time they have played that many! And probably it's as many as actually possible during a 2-hour broadcast... However, they are still skipping some songs week after week - "Fade Out Lines" by The Avener, "Sun Goes Down" by Robin Schulz and (especially scandalously) "Take Me To Church" by Hozier... "Uptown Funk!" by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars makes an expected but still impressive 16-place climb to number 1.

MTV Euro Top Chart - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2015
The old MTV European Top 20 chart, which had been broadcast on MTV Europe for more than 20 years, ended in 2012. However, it looks like since January 4, 2014 some European "chart" has started being broadcast again on MTV Europe. The chart is broadcast on Saturdays from 12:00 to 14:00 CET and on Sundays from 14:00 to 16:00 CET. The chart seems to be a Top 40. However, not all the positions are shown - some of them are skipped each week. It's also notable that the Top 20 of the chart is a complete copy of the "Euro Top 20" chart that is broadcast on MTV Italy: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=173582 The songs that are skipped on this "Euro Top Chart" seem to be one of two cases: either songs that aren't played on MTV Europe in general; or when an artist has more than one song in the chart, not all are shown.

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of December 27, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 George Ezra - Blame It On Me 5 Down 29 Beyoncé Knowles - 7/11 15 Down 28 Sia - Chandelier 2 Down 27 26 25 OneRepublic - I Lived 24 Kwabs - Walk 6 Down 23 Tove Lo - Habits 2 Down 22 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 6 Up 21 20 Wretch 32 - 6 Words 7 Down 19 Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat 5 Up 18 AronChupa - I'm An Albatraoz 1 Up 17 16 Labrinth - Jealous 7 Down 15 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One Stay => 14 13 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 3 Up 12 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass Stay => 11 One Direction - Steal My Girl 1 Down 10 Clean Bandit - Real Love 3 Down 9 8 7 6 Union J - You Got It All 5 Take That - These Days 3 Up 4 Olly Murs - Wrapped Up 2 Down 3 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 3 Up 2 David Guetta - Dangerous 1 Down 1 Taylor Swift - Blank Space 4 Up And in the last edition of MTV Euro Top Chart for 2014 we have another shocking number 1! Earlier this year "Shake It Off" surprisingly reached the top spot... and now Taylor Swift's next single, "Blank Space", does the same! It's great that yet another song that doesn't have success in the UK chart but appears in other European countries' singles charts manages to climb to the Top 20 of this chart - "Yellow Flicker Beat" by Lorde. It's somewhat of a pity that Lorde's "Team" couldn't do that earlier in the year - it only reached as high as number 21...

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of December 20, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 27 Cheryl Cole - I Don't Care 12 Down 26 Sia - Chandelier 3 Down 25 George Ezra - Blame It On Me 1 Down 24 Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat 23 22 21 Tove Lo - Habits Stay => 20 19 AronChupa - I'm An Albatraoz 3 Down 18 Kwabs - Walk 17 16 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 8 Down 15 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 1 Down 14 Beyoncé Knowles - 7/11 13 Wretch 32 - 6 Words 6 Down 12 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 1 Down 11 10 One Direction - Steal My Girl Stay => 9 Labrinth - Jealous 8 Take That - These Days 1 Up 7 Clean Bandit - Real Love 2 Down 6 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 2 Down 5 Taylor Swift - Blank Space 1 Up 4 3 Band Aid 30 - Do They Know It's Christmas? 2 Down 2 Olly Murs - Wrapped Up Stay => 1 David Guetta - Dangerous 2 Up sdizda, thank you very much for the link! Although I'm not able to open it (for now), hopefully others will - so they can watch the chart when I don't have the opportunity to do it! It's nice to see "Walk" by Kwabs in the chart - this is another example of a song that hasn't done well in the UK but is having success in other European countries. The song at number 11 is supposedly "Take Me To Church" by Hozier. For some mysterious reason MTV Europe have been skipping this song week after week... I wonder whether they will ever play it?

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of December 13, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 2 Down 27 26 John Legend - All Of Me 3 Down 25 24 George Ezra - Blame It On Me 23 Sia - Chandelier 8 Down 22 21 Tove Lo - Habits 5 Down 20 19 Gareth Malone's All Star Choir - Wake Me Up! 18 Down 18 Tom Odell - Real Love 4 Down 17 16 AronChupa - I'm An Albatraoz 6 Up 15 Cheryl Cole - I Don't Care 3 Down 14 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 6 Up 13 12 Rixton - Wait On Me 11 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 3 Down 10 One Direction - Steal My Girl 4 Down 9 Take That - These Days 8 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 1 Down 7 Wretch 32 - 6 Words 6 Taylor Swift - Blank Space 1 Down 5 Clean Bandit - Real Love 1 Down 4 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 1 Down 3 David Guetta - Dangerous 1 Down 2 Olly Murs - Wrapped Up 7 Up 1 Band Aid 30 - Do They Know It's Christmas? sdizda, unfortunately, I'm not able to open the link. Does it show MTV Europe online? "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid 30 appears at number 1 - and I suppose it's a new entry straight at the top! According to the MTV European Top 20 archives, Band Aid II's version debuted at number 6 at the beginning of 1990 but only spent one week in the chart... While I remember how Band Aid 20's version spent 8 weeks in the chart in late 2004/early 2005... but only reached a peak position of number 15! In my opinion, it should have become a number 1... Last week's chart-topper, Gareth Malone's All Star Choir's version of "Wake Me Up!" falls 18 places to number 19... And I find it curious that 2 songs titled "Real Love" - by Tom Odell and Clean Bandit - are simultaneously in the chart!

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of December 6, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 Kendrick Lamar - i 27 Parra For Cuva - Wicked Games 26 Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 8 Down 25 OneRepublic - I Lived 24 23 John Legend - All Of Me 3 Down 22 AronChupa - I'm An Albatraoz 21 20 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 4 Down 19 18 17 16 Tove Lo - Habits 3 Up 15 Sia - Chandelier 3 Down 14 Tom Odell - Real Love 13 The Veronicas - You Ruin Me 12 Cheryl Cole - I Don't Care 3 Down 11 10 9 Olly Murs - Wrapped Up 2 Up 8 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 3 Down 7 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 1 Up 6 One Direction - Steal My Girl 2 Down 5 Taylor Swift - Blank Space 4 Clean Bandit - Real Love 2 Up 3 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 1 Down 2 David Guetta - Dangerous 1 Down 1 Gareth Malone's All Star Choir - Wake Me Up! 2 Up It's good to see that a song doing well in Europe that hasn't appeared in the UK chart yet can still appear in the MTV Euro Top Chart - I'm talking about "I'm An Albatraoz" by AronChupa. On the other hand, the new number 1 is flabbergasting. And I do find this version of "Wake Me Up!" beautiful - not to mention that it's special for me because I'm also singing in a choir... But it has to be released all across Europe in order to earn its place here - and I'm sure it would do well in the various European countries!

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of November 29, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 John Legend - All Of Me 7 Down 19 Tove Lo - Habits 2 Down 18 Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 9 Down 17 16 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 8 Down 15 14 13 12 Sia - Chandelier 1 Down 11 Olly Murs - Wrapped Up 10 9 Cheryl Cole - I Don't Care 7 Down 8 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Outside 7 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off 1 Down 6 Clean Bandit - Real Love 5 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 1 Down 4 One Direction - Steal My Girl 3 Up 3 Gareth Malone's All Star Choir - Wake Me Up! 2 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 1 Down 1 David Guetta - Dangerous 2 Up "But don't MTV Europe show some positions outside the Top 20?", you might ask. Well, yes, they do. And they did this time, too - they played 6 songs before "All Of Me" by John Legend. However, the numbers they showed were completely chaotic! I have no idea what the real positions of those songs are so I haven't included them in the chart. Just to show you how absurd this was, I'll write them below in the exact sequence that they were broadcast by MTV Europe: 24 Nicki Minaj - Anaconda 20 The Veronicas - You Ruin Me 19 OneRepublic - I Lived 23 Parra For Cuva - Wicked Games 22 Lilly Wood & The Prick - Prayer In C 16 George Ezra - Blame It On Me

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of November 22, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 Iggy Azalea & Rita Ora - Black Widow 32 31 30 29 The Script - Superheroes 28 Nicki Minaj - Anaconda 27 OneRepublic - I Lived 26 Sigma & Paloma Faith - Changing 25 24 23 22 George Ezra - Blame It On Me 21 Fuse ODG - T.I.N.A. 20 Waze, Odyssey & R. Kelly - Bump 'N' Grind 2014 19 18 Lilly Wood & The Prick - Prayer In C 17 Tove Lo - Habits 16 15 14 13 John Legend - All Of Me 12 11 Sia - Chandelier 10 Parra For Cuva - Wicked Games 9 Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 8 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 7 One Direction - Steal My Girl 6 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off 5 Calvin Harris & John Newman - Blame 4 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 3 David Guetta - Dangerous 2 Cheryl Cole - I Don't Care 1 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud So, I missed 2 editions of this chart. Judging by MTV Italy's Euro Top 20, there was a change at the top during each of those weeks. In the chart of November 8 "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran climbed to number 1. Then in the chart of November 15 "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor returned to the top spot of the chart. And now it's replaced again by "Thinking Out Loud" - which is Ed Sheeran's second number 1 in the "Euro Top Chart" after "Sing". The problem is that the UK singles chart is still having too big of an influence on this chart... Having "I Don't Care" by Cheryl Cole at number 2 is absurd...

Judging by the Euro Top Chart broadcast by MTV Europe, "Black Widow" by Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora is actually at number 20. The song at number 19 is "I'm Not The Only One" by Sam Smith.

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of November 1, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 Wilkinson - Dirty Love 25 Sheppard - Geronimo 4 Up 24 23 MAGIC! - Rude Stay => 22 21 Ella Henderson - Glow 10 Down 20 Iggy Azalea & Rita Ora - Black Widow 3 Down 19 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One 3 Up 18 David Guetta - Lovers On The Sun 2 Down 17 The Script - Superheroes 2 Down 16 15 John Legend - All Of Me 5 Up 14 The Vamps & Shawn Mendes - Oh Cecilia 13 Ariana Grande & Zedd - Break Free 5 Up 12 Eminem & Sia - Guts Over Fear 11 Sia - Chandelier 2 Down 10 Sigma & Paloma Faith - Changing 3 Up 9 8 Nicki Minaj - Anaconda 5 Down 7 Lilly Wood & The Prick - Prayer In C 2 Down 6 Calvin Harris & John Newman - Blame 4 Down 5 4 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud 6 Up 3 Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 1 Up 2 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 1 Down 1 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off 5 Up Well, Meghan Trainor's reign lasted only one week (so far, of course)! As I watched the chart and we were reaching the final positions, I had this crazy thought: "Would it be possible for "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift to somehow jump to the top?"... Still, I was SHOCKED when that actually happened! In what appears to be its 9th week in the chart, it reclimbs 6-1... Definitely one of the more surprising number ones - not only in this "Euro Top Chart" but in the "real" old MTV European Top 20, too! In this week's edition of "What are these songs doing in this chart?" - "Dirty Love" by Wilkinson and "Oh Cecilia" (while I find The Vamps' music nice, they have to actually release their singles in various European countries, otherwise they have no place HERE). And I'm extremely pleased that "All Of Me" by John Legend is going 5 places back up to number 15 this week. While this wonderful song only reached a peak position of number 5, it's really having the longevity it deserves in the chart!

Sadly, another song titled "Geronimo" - by Aura Dione - never appeared in MTV European Top 20... although 2 other songs of hers - "I Will Love You Monday" and "Friends" - did enter the chart... And it seems like MTV Europe have been skipping another song for several weeks while broadcasting this chart - "Take Me To Church" by Hozier.

I expect that to change as early as next week - "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor is inevitably going to conquer the top spot, the only question is: for how long? It's good that MTV Europe played all the songs in the Top 22 and didn't skip anything. However, nowadays it seems that any song that appears in (or a little below) the Top 10 of the UK singles chart is almost guaranteed to appear in the "Euro Top Chart" as well...

The fact that I missed last week's edition of the chart means that I also missed a change at the top - supposedly, "Blame" by Calvin Harris and John Newman reached number 1. However, this week there is another chart-topper - "Changing" by Sigma and Paloma Faith... I'm becoming increasingly disappointed with this "Euro Top Chart". I could somehow understand "Blame" becoming number 1 since it's doing well in various European countries. However, what has "Changing" achieved apart from reaching number 1 in the UK chart? So far it hasn't even appeared in most European charts! At least at this point, "Changing" seems to be one of the least deserving number ones in MTV Europe's chart ever...

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of September 6, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Kiesza - Hideaway Stay => 23 Mr. Probz - Waves 7 Down 22 Calvin Harris - Summer 4 Down 21 Oliver Heldens - Gecko 1 Up 20 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars 6 Down 19 Charli XCX - Boom Clap 4 Down 18 Iggy Azalea & Rita Ora - Black Widow 17 Maroon 5 - Maps 16 15 ZHU - Faded 7 Down 14 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 2 Down 13 Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea - Problem 12 John Legend - All Of Me 2 Down 11 George Ezra - Budapest 2 Down 10 Wankelmut & Emma Louise - My Head Is A Jungle 9 Sia - Chandelier 2 Up 8 Ed Sheeran - Sing 11 Up 7 Ella Henderson - Ghost 1 Down 6 Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong 4 Down 5 OneRepublic - Love Runs Out 1 Down 4 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off 3 MAGIC! - Rude 4 Up 2 1 Lilly Wood & The Prick - Prayer In C Stay => Things are getting even more absurd... Now MTV Europe skipped the number 2 (supposedly, "Lovers On The Sun" by David Guetta). If it reaches the top, will MTV Europe skip the number 1!?... And then they suddenly start playing "Problem" by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea again - now that it's left the Top 10... and in an edition of the chart when they also play another song by Iggy Azalea ("Black Widow")... It also looks like the UK chart has begun to have a bigger influence on the "Euro Top Chart" - something I'm not happy about...
