MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
On the one hand, in theory, I know what the missing positions are. On the other hand, there have been cases when there have been minor differences between MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart" and MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20". In general, until MTV Europe start putting the chart on a website, I'd prefer not to post the missing positions. This way, I'm also showing the chart as it's broadcast on MTV Europe - the songs that they are playing... and not playing.

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of August 30, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good 25 24 Kiesza - Hideaway 23 22 Oliver Heldens - Gecko 21 Sigma - Nobody To Love 20 Jason Derulo - Wiggle 19 Ed Sheeran - Sing 18 Calvin Harris - Summer 17 Bakermat - Vandaag 16 Mr. Probz - Waves 15 Charli XCX - Boom Clap 14 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars 13 Cheryl Cole - Crazy Stupid Love 12 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 11 Sia - Chandelier 10 John Legend - All Of Me 9 George Ezra - Budapest 8 ZHU - Faded 7 MAGIC! - Rude 6 Ella Henderson - Ghost 5 4 OneRepublic - Love Runs Out 3 2 Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong 1 Lilly Wood & The Prick - Prayer In C It's a pity that I wasn't able to watch the chart of August 23! Judging by MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20", there are a lot of huge movements! The previous chart-topper - "Summer" by Calvin Harris - falls 17 places to number 18!!! "A Sky Full Of Stars" by Coldplay, "Waves" by Mr. Probz and "Sing" by Ed Sheeran are also leaving the Top 10, making 10+ place falls... And then there are several big climbers. However, usually when the chart becomes so dynamic, the following edition is an almost complete reversal of the movements... We'll see whether that remains true next week. Unsurprisingly, "Prayer In C" becomes the new number 1. But I really don't understand the vendetta that MTV Europe have against "Problem" by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea. How can they not play the number 3 in the chart?!...

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
IMPORTANT: Next weekend I won't be able to watch the "Euro Top Chart". Would someone who has access to MTV Europe be so kind to watch the chart and write it down? MTV Europe broadcasts it 3 times during the weekend: from 12:00 to 14:00 CET on Saturday; from 19:00 to 21:00 CET on Saturday; and from 14:00 to 16:00 CET on Sunday.

"Budapest" by George Ezra is actually a re-entry.

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of August 16, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 Pitbull - We Are One 1 Down 25 24 23 Katy Perry - Birthday 3 Down 22 Avicii - Addicted To You 5 Down 21 Duke Dumont - I Got U 5 Down 20 Sia - Chandelier 19 Ella Henderson - Ghost Stay => 18 George Ezra - Budapest 3 Up 17 MAGIC! - Rude 16 15 Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good Stay => 14 Pharrell Williams - Happy Stay => 13 Sigma - Nobody To Love 3 Down 12 Lilly Wood & The Prick - Prayer In C 11 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down 4 Down 10 OneRepublic - Love Runs Out 1 Up 9 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 3 Up 8 Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong 6 Down 7 Clean Bandit - Rather Be 2 Up 6 5 John Legend - All Of Me 3 Up 4 Ed Sheeran - Sing 2 Up 3 Mr. Probz - Waves 2 Down 2 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars 2 Up 1 Calvin Harris - Summer 2 Up MTV Europe have actually started playing "Prayer In C" much earlier than I expected! On the other hand, there has been something peculiar recently. From time to time it happens that in the beginning MTV Europe don't play certain songs but after several weeks they start playing them... However, in the case of "Problem" by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea, the opposite happened - MTV Europe played it the first few weeks... and then they started skipping it! Why? It's supposed to be at number 6 this week. Last time I wrote that "Am I Wrong" was the biggest contender for the number 1 spot... but now it falls 6 places back to number 8! What I didn't write last time was that I actually considered "A Sky Full Of Stars" by Colplay as most likely to replace "Waves" by Mr. Probz at the top... and I was so close! But I really didn't think "Summer" by Calvin Harris would become the new number 1...

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of August 9, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 Pitbull - We Are One 10 Down 24 Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX - Fancy 23 22 Faul, Wad Ad & Pnau - Changes 21 George Ezra - Budapest Stay => 20 Katy Perry - Birthday 1 Down 19 Ella Henderson - Ghost 1 Up 18 Jason Derulo - Wiggle 6 Up 17 Avicii - Addicted To You Stay => 16 Duke Dumont - I Got U Stay => 15 Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good 2 Down 14 Pharrell Williams - Happy 3 Down 13 12 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 2 Down 11 OneRepublic - Love Runs Out 1 Up 10 Sigma - Nobody To Love 4 Up 9 Clean Bandit - Rather Be 3 Down 8 John Legend - All Of Me 3 Down 7 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down 2 Up 6 Ed Sheeran - Sing 2 Down 5 4 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars 1 Down 3 Calvin Harris - Summer 1 Down 2 Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong 6 Up 1 Mr. Probz - Waves Stay => Ben, sadly, MTV Europe's website hasn't been updated since November 2013! "Prayer In C" is at number 13 this week but so far MTV Europe have been skipping it... I think they'll start playing it in several weeks' time. And by climbing 6 places to number 2, "Am I Wrong" by Nico and Vinz presents itself as the biggest contender for the number 1 spot!

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of August 2, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 Aloe Blacc - The Man 6 Down 24 Jason Derulo - Wiggle 23 22 21 George Ezra - Budapest 1 Down 20 Ella Henderson - Ghost 1 Up 19 Katy Perry - Birthday 6 Down 18 17 Avicii - Addicted To You Stay => 16 Duke Dumont - I Got U 1 Down 15 Pitbull - We Are One 1 Up 14 Sigma - Nobody To Love Stay => 13 Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good 3 Down 12 OneRepublic - Love Runs Out 6 Up 11 Pharrell Williams - Happy 2 Down 10 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 1 Up 9 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down 1 Down 8 Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong 4 Up 7 6 Clean Bandit - Rather Be 1 Down 5 John Legend - All Of Me 1 Up 4 Ed Sheeran - Sing 1 Down 3 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars 1 Up 2 Calvin Harris - Summer Stay => 1 Mr. Probz - Waves Stay => *** Between "Wiggle" by Jason Derulo at number 24 and "Budapest" by George Ezra at number 21, MTV Europe played "Chandelier" by Sia... but showed it as NUMBER 20!?... Since I have no way of knowing whether the song actually is at number 23 or number 22, I haven't listed it in this edition of the chart at all. It's a pity...

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2014
Curiously, on MTV Italy's website this edition of the chart is actually shown as a Top 22 - with "Ghost" at number 21 and "Wasted" at number 22!!!

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of July 26, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 Ella Henderson - Ghost 11 Down 20 George Ezra - Budapest 7 Down 19 Aloe Blacc - The Man Stay => 18 OneRepublic - Love Runs Out 17 Avicii - Addicted To You Stay => 16 Pitbull - We Are One Stay => 15 Duke Dumont - I Got U 1 Down 14 Sigma - Nobody To Love 7 Down 13 Katy Perry - Birthday 5 Up 12 Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong 1 Down 11 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 8 Down 10 Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good 1 Down 9 Pharrell Williams - Happy 8 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down 7 Up 7 Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea - Problem 5 Up 6 John Legend - All Of Me 1 Down 5 Clean Bandit - Rather Be 1 Up 4 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars 4 Up 3 Ed Sheeran - Sing 2 Down 2 Calvin Harris - Summer 2 Up 1 Mr. Probz - Waves 1 Up ...And this edition of the chart seems to me like a step back. Last week's biggest climbers are now making big falls; the top of the chart returns to its state from 2 weeks ago; "Happy" by Pharrell Williams reappears straight at number 9... At least I'm really happy that MTV Europe didn't skip any positions this time - they played all the songs from number 21 to number 1! Let's hope this continues to be the case each week!

MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe) Here is the chart of July 19, 2014: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 Klingande - Jubel 5 Down 22 21 Kiesza - Hideaway 20 Jason Derulo - Wiggle 19 Aloe Blacc - The Man 2 Up 18 Katy Perry - Birthday 3 Down 17 Avicii - Addicted To You Stay => 16 Pitbull - We Are One Stay => 15 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down 7 Down 14 Duke Dumont - I Got U 8 Down 13 George Ezra - Budapest 6 Up 12 Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea - Problem 2 Up 11 Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong 10 Ella Henderson - Ghost 13 Up 9 Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good Stay => 8 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars 1 Down 7 Sigma - Nobody To Love 3 Up 6 Clean Bandit - Rather Be 1 Down 5 John Legend - All Of Me 1 Down 4 Calvin Harris - Summer 2 Down 3 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 10 Up 2 Mr. Probz - Waves 1 Down 1 Ed Sheeran - Sing 2 Up Yet another absurd situation - during the broadcast of this edition of the chart, MTV Europe showed "Wiggle" by Jason Derulo as number 20... and, immediately after that, they showed "The Man" by Aloe Blacc AGAIN AS NUMBER 20!!! So, according to MTV Europe, this edition of the "Euro Top Chart" contained TWO different number 20's?!... That's completely illogical so I'm considering "The Man" as being number 19 in this edition. I also think it's a pity that Ed Sheeran scores a number 1 with "Sing"... when "I See Fire" didn't appear at all in MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20" chart... On the other hand, I'm extremely happy that MTV Europe finally played "Am I Wrong" by Nico and Vinz! There were also several big climbers and fallers... As a whole, I enjoyed the chart of July 19!
-
MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2014
Of course, this edition of the chart is weird - it's actually not the chart of July 12 at all! In fact, it's the real chart of July 5 - as I told you last week, "Budapest" by George Ezra was above "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry. The real chart of July 12 must be identical to the Top 20 of the edition for July 12 of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart". I'm pretty sure that "Am I Wrong" by Nico and Vinz is at number 12. I just don't know which song is at number 20... This is a problem that the various Italian charts (including the "official" singles chart) experience each year - they don't seem to be properly updated during the summer...

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2014
This time it's more difficult to compare the two charts as MTV Europe broadcast two different versions of the chart of July 5... But in both of those "versions" both "Budapest" by George Ezra and "Changes" by Faul, Wad Ad and Pnau are above "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry.
-
MTV Euro Top 40 - (broadcast on MTV Europe) - 2014
Here is the other "version" of the chart of July 5, 2014 that MTV Europe broadcast (the differences are just between positions number 24 and number 12 so I'm only posting this part of the chart): 24 Ella Henderson - Ghost 23 22 Katy Perry - Dark Horse 21 Faul, Wad Ad & Pnau - Changes 20 George Ezra - Budapest 19 Klingande - Jubel 18 Aloe Blacc - The Man 17 Pitbull - We Are One 16 Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea - Problem 15 Sam Smith - Stay With Me 14 13 12 Sigma - Nobody To Love In addition to a few minor differences in chart positions, "Stolen Dance" by Milky Chance is missing from this version, too... I really hope MTV Europe won't broadcast different "versions" of one and the same edition of the chart in the future!...

And this time they somehow broadcast two DIFFERENT versions of this edition of the "Euro Top Chart"! I'll post the other version in my next post...

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2014
MTV Italy have obviously made a mistake - the chart of June 28 is not identical to the chart of June 21! It should be the same as the Top 20 of the edition for June 28 of MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart". The only thing I'm not sure of is whether "Am I Wrong" by Nico and Vinz is at number 16 and "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry - at number 17; or vice versa. Hopefully the real edition of the chart will appear on MTV Italy's website in the following weeks...

"All Of Me" by John Legend jumps back 9 places to a new peak position - number 10!

Again a minor difference between this chart and MTV Europe's "Euro Top Chart": "Money On My Mind" is at number 19 here and at number 20 in the "Euro Top Chart"; while "Am I Wrong" by Nico and Vinz is at number 20 here... and MTV Europe didn't play position number 19 at all (but I suspect it was exactly "Am I Wrong"!).

I'm glad that in the end they play the songs that are successful around Europe, even if it takes several weeks (other examples were "Jubel" and "Changes")! Ben, unfortunately, they don't reveal the positions they don't play at all! As you can see, this time they didn't reveal positions number 4, 5 and 6!

MTV Euro Top 20 - (broadcast on MTV Italy) - 2014
There are quite a few differences between positions 12-20 in this edition of the chart and the latest edition of the "Euro Top Chart" that is broadcast on MTV Europe. MTV Europe seems to wholly disregard "Sing" by Ed Sheeran this time so "Stay The Night" by Zedd and Hayley Williams is actually at number 20 in the Euro Top Chart... and then there are some small differences of 1 or 2 positions... I wonder whether there will come a time when the 2 charts seem completely different from each other...
