  1. Let's compare to djcharly's Euro Singles Hot 100: http://www.charly1300.com/eurosingles/eurosingles242.htm The only difference is that MTV Europe doesn't allow Gusttavo Lima and Stooshe in the Top 10...
  2. It's all subjective. Apart from Precision Tunes, I honestly don't see what was so wrong with that edition. The most successful songs in Europe were still in the chart, just in a different order.
  3. And once again the chart is a copy of djcharly's Euro Singles Hot 100: http://www.charly1300.com/eurosingles/eurosingles241.htm The 2 differences are that "Black Heart" by Stooshe is missing from MTV European Top 20 and that "Balada" by Gusttavo Lima is actually at number 7 in djcharly's chart. I have no idea why MTV Europe don't allow "Balada" in the Top 10 anymore when the song debuted at number 10 in European Top 20!?... And I do prefer last week's edition (except Precision Tunes) because at least it was original...
  4. Well, the two charts currently share the same number 1!
  5. Here is the latest edition of European Top 20: 20 Nicki Minaj - Starships 4 Down 19 Gusttavo Lima - Balada 8 Down 18 Pitbull - Back In Time 1 Down 17 Tacabro - Tacata 1 Up 16 Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know 9 Down 15 DJ Fresh & Dizzee Rascal - The Power RE-ENTRY 14 Alex Clare - Too Close 1 Down 13 Train - Drive By 7 Down 12 Maroon 5 - Payphone 7 Down 11 Precision Tunes - Payphone NEW 10 Rihanna - Where Have You Been Stay => 9 Usher - Scream 5 Up 8 Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band - Sing NEW 7 Loreen - Euphoria 3 Down 6 Rudimental - Feel The Love 6 Up 5 Coldplay & Rihanna - Princess Of China 3 Up 4 Fun. - We Are Young 1 Down 3 Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe 2 Down 2 Cheryl Cole - Call My Name 7 Up 1 Flo Rida - Whistle 1 Up I don't think the chart is that absurd apart from the debut of Precision Tunes... This must be the only song in the history of MTV European Top 20 that not only doesn't have an official video but it doesn't even have a live performance! MTV Europe would never be able to play it... It's even more remarkable that Precision Tunes are one place above the Maroon 5 original! It's incredible to see the two versions of "Payphone" next to each other... I don't believe such a situation will ever happen again in the chart... Otherwise, I'm actually quite happy with this edition of European Top 20 - it's certainly not a copy of any other chart!
  6. This time we have a total copy of djcharly's Euro Singles Hot 100: http://www.charly1300.com/eurosingles/eurosingles239.htm At least it's nice that "Euphoria" by Loreen is at number 4! Has anyone by any chance been able to watch the chart on MTV Europe? I'd like to know if they played the live performance from Eurovision!

Timbaland is singing the chorus - you can check some live performances in Youtube. But live his sound in the chorus is more similar to the sound in the verse.
  8. Actually, "Back In Time" by Pitbull and "Whistle" by Flo Rida are re-entries. Anyway, compare this to this edition of djcharly's Euro Singles Hot 100: http://www.charly1300.com/eurosingles/eurosingles238.htm The differences are extremely small, one of the most notable is that "Euphoria" by Loreen is number 7 there. When the chart-makers of MTV European Top 20 copied the chart, they placed "Euphoria" at number 11 because it doesn't have an official video yet so they wouldn't be able to play it when they broadcast the Top 10 of the chart on MTV Europe...
  9. Yes, it looks like this time the chart-makers again suffered from a lack of inspiration... I hope there will be much more movement in the next edition... and, most importantly - that it will be an ORIGINAL chart and not a copy!

"Never Gonna Leave Your Side" may not be remembered but it's my favourite song of 2003! At the time some people called it a copy of "If You're Not The One" but to me it's a lot better.
  11. On the one hand, it's wonderful that djcharly's Euro Singles Hot 100 is so influential that even Europe's biggest music channel is using it... On the other hand, I want MTV Europe's chart to really be done by MTV Europe and not copied from someone else! You can compare this time as well: http://www.charly1300.com/eurosingles/eurosingles236.htm The only difference is that for some inexplicable reason MTV Europe has omitted "Princess Of China" - which was in the chart last week!?...
  12. "Satellite" by Lena debuted straight at number 1 in MTV European Top 20... but that was in the new period of the chart (since 2009), when this wasn't such a legendary occurrence... Before that "Hard Rock Hallelujah" by Lordi reached number 13 in 2006... And the previous Eurovision song in European Top 20 was back in 1998 - "Diva" by Dana International reached number 10. Regarding Eurovision winners played on MTV Europe - all the ones between 2003 and 2006 were played. I remember seeing on MTV Europe all of "Everyway That I Can" by Sertab, "Wild Dances" by Ruslana, "My Number One" by Elena Paparizou and "Hard Rock Hallelujah" by Lordi. About the latest edition of European Top 20 - you just have to look at this edition of Euro Singles Top 100, the chart made by my friend djcharly (Charles Pons): http://www.charly1300.com/eurosingles/eurosingles235.htm
  13. Yes, Luca Hänni is the first! We'll see what happens in future years... Euphorique, I have always said that I'm against songs entering European Top 20 if they have only had success in the UK (and Ireland) so for me this is the same case. If a song is only doing well in the German-speaking countries, I consider this "local" success, which is not enough to appear in a EUROPEAN chart. Just like it wouldn't be enough if, for example, a French idol scored a number 1 in France, Wallonia and Switzerland... A hypothetical song that reaches number 12 in Germany, number 9 in Austria, number 18 in Switzerland and number 7 in the Netherlands is much more deserving of charting in MTV European Top 20 than "Don't Think About Me" by Luca Hänni, I think. Just like "Femme Like U" by K-Maro deserved to make it to the chart (alas, it didn't do it in reality) because it managed to have success outside of the French-speaking countries.
  14. Here is the latest edition of European Top 20: 20 Alex Clare - Too Close NEW 19 Pitbull - Back In Time NEW 18 Sean Paul - She Doesn't Mind 7 Down 17 Justin Bieber - Boyfriend RE-ENTRY 16 Taio Cruz - There She Goes NEW 15 Maroon 5 - Payphone 4 Up 14 Luca Hänni - Don't Think About Me NEW 13 Far*East Movement & Justin Bieber - Live My Life 4 Down 12 Aura Dione - Friends 4 Up 11 Kelly Clarkson - Stronger 3 Down 10 DJ Antoine & The Beatshakers - Ma Chérie 3 Up 9 David Guetta & Sia - Titanium 3 Up 8 Flo Rida & Sia - Wild Ones 2 Down 7 Jennifer Lopez & Pitbull - Dance Again 3 Up 6 Nicki Minaj - Starships 1 Up 5 Train - Drive By Stay => 4 Michel Telo - Ai Se Eu Te Pego! 2 Down 3 Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe 1 Up 2 Fun. - We Are Young 1 Up 1 Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know Stay => Of course, the biggest shock is the debut of "Don't Think About Me" by Luca Hänni. As I have said before, I don't approve of songs entering MTV European Top 20 if they have only had success in the German-speaking part of Europe. Yes, "Don't Think About Me" became number 1 in all of Germany, Austria and Switzerland but to me that's still not enough - the song should appear in at least another European country's chart in order to make it to European Top 20! Seeing "Don't Think About Me" here reminds me of the beginning of last year when "Mignon Mignon" by René La Taupe appeared in MTV European Top 20 (that was the copy of the last edition of the Eurochart)... But at least the situation with "Mignon Mignon" was funny because it was the first of that type of song to chart here (even "Axel F" by Crazy Frog has never been in this chart!)... Anyway, this edition of the chart looks quite nice otherwise! Come on, Fun., just one more step!
  15. Hmm... Maybe the chart-makers do read my commentary because this time they have shown that they can make an interesting chart! 6 entries and the chart as a whole seems to represent well what's going on across Europe... I'm just a little worried that the German-speaking countries might be having a little too much influence (the latest example is DJane HouseKat)...
  16. Hitstastic, it's a funny coincidence that you said the chart was "static" because in the past I actually thought your name was HitSTATIC... Otherwise, I completely agree with you. It looks like the chart-makers suffered from a complete lack of inspiration/imagination this time... The previous couple of editions were really good so hopefully the next chart will be more like them...
  17. There are just two new entries but the chart is looking very, very nice! In fact, it looks like a perfect continuation of last week's edition - I think this is exactly what Jamse calls "flow"! K'naan reached number 1 in 2010 with "Wavin' Flag" but I have to say I wouldn't have expected to see him in European Top 20 again! And "Drive By" becomes Train's third number 4 hit after "Drops Of Jupiter" and "Hey, Soul Sister". Will they finally be able to enter the Top 3 this time?
  18. So of last week's 10 entries only one survived - "Drive By" by Train... the other 9 are out! And this week there are 10 entries as well - 8 re-entries and 2 new entries! I'm especially happy about one of them - "We Are Young" by Fun. I really hope it will be a future number 1!
  19. Let me first express my displeasure with the fact that the time when European Top is broadcast has been changed and now it's at 1:00 AM! I know that it's also broadcast at 12:00 PM before that but I'm not able to watch it at that time... And, even worse - this week they didn't actually broadcast the chart at 1:00 AM!... On the other hand, this week's edition is certainly remarkable - a total of 10 entries! 7 new entries and 3 re-entries! And yet I think the chart looks like a continuation of last week's chart, which is great. Also, I don't think it's a copy of any other European chart! When "Drops Of Jupiter" reached number 4 in 2001, I would never have guessed Train would be in the chart 11 years later! And "She Doesn't Mind" becomes Sean Paul's 4th number 2 in MTV European Top 20 after "Breathe", "We Be Burnin'" and "Got 2 Luv U". Will he finally score a number 1 with this single?
  20. I find it interesting that years after DJ Bobo Swiss DJ's are once again having success in European Top 20 - DJ Antoine has already scored two hits with "Welcome To St. Tropez" and "Ma Chérie"... and now Mike Candys also makes a debut!
  21. ...What more can I say? "Someone Like You" by Adele re-enters the chart for the 6th time, making this its 7th separate run in MTV European Top 20... I don't think this achievement will ever be beaten!
  22. That edition from 2003 was a special one - there were 4 new entries! The last time there had been so many new entries was in the edition of May 6, 2000. I had started watching European Top 20 by then but I still wasn't writing down all the positions (nor had I started watching the whole Top 20) so I didn't realize there were actually 4 new entries back then... So I had to wait for almost 3 years to finally see 4 new entries in the chart... I was so happy!
  23. They are at number 19 together with DJ Antoine. As far as I could understand, they are credited on the single because "Ma Chérie" is originally theirs.
  24. Amazing! It's really like in the old days! Unlike almost all of the recent editions of European Top 20, there are no new entries in the Top 10... In the past it was a special achievement to debut in the Top 10! Also, there are many entries between positions number 11 and number 20 - another thing that has been lacking nowadays... And what can I say when I see Aura Dione, DJ Antoine and The Beatshakers (the first Serbian artist in MTV European Top 20?)?... It seems like the chart is becoming more EUROPEAN! It's just a pity that Aura Dione's "Geronimo" never charted... Oh, and by re-entering this week, "Rolling In The Deep" by Adele improves its record as the longest stayer ever - now its total becomes 34 weeks in the chart!
  25. THIS is something else! Not only have they posted the same chart on the MTV website as the Top 10 they broadcast on MTV Europe on Tuesday but there is an actual Bottom 10 as well! And, from what I can see, the chart doesn't seem to be a copy of any other chart (can anyone else check this as well?). That's one of the reasons I'll NEVER give up on MTV European Top 20 - however bad the situation might look at times, there's always hope that next week there is going to be a good edition of the chart!!!!!! It's magnificent that "Ai Se Eu Te Pego!" has reached number 1! If I'm not mistaken, this is the first song in Portuguese to top the chart since... "Lambada" by Kaoma in 1989! And Adele breaks a record again! "Someone Like You" re-enters the chart for the 5th time, making this its 6th separate run in European Top 20! Until now it shared the record with "Mr. Saxobeat" by Alexandra Stan, which had re-entered the chart 4 times... Oh, and let me just mention that "Someone Like You" made its debut here more than a year ago! sdizda, well done for finding the missing number 12! I'm just wondering where Markus has this information from... I guess I'll have to ask him! Euphorique, I don't seem to remember Nordic Top 5 on MTV Europe... On the other hand, I do remember the show where there were duels between videos... but I'm afraid I have forgotten its name.
