Anyone else still watching this? I'm getting quite into it now, I guess it helps to know the characters more, but i'm getting into the mythology of the planet a bit. theres quite a bit of shabby special effects and camera work, which i'd maybe ignore as it's only a tv show but it's meant to be fairly big budget so i'd expect a bit better on that front, i'd say it's trying far too much to be some sci-fi epic, but if i ignore all these things it's pretty good.
  2. They still exist? oh dear.

I've become a right blu ray addict now. best things on blu ray: Scott Pilgrim, Toy Story trilogy, Spiderman trilogy, Avatar (if you can sit through that terrible movie but does look great in blu ray), Zodiac, Apocalypto, The Watchmen. Also I got every single season of Lost, i'm still on season 1 but it looks fantastic, like the same quality as those above.

I watched it last week, for it was very good, much better than Slumdog but still far from Boyle's best, James Franco was magnificent, deserves an Oscar just depends if he deserves it more than Colin Firth (havent seen Kings Speech yet), I didnt think the score was anything special though. The Social Network>Black Swan>this, all very good though.

lets face it everyone perfers to post in a topic made by me :smoke:
  9. Harvey when I see you posting in threads these days I often realise it is likely that you are about to pick on me, it's become strangely predictable. of course RBF wouldnt go down well here, why are you telling me something that I know, my music collection is far more broader than mid-90's ska punk bands thanks.
  10. i'd just say alternative music in general, sort of in the same way we do UP, theres like unwritten musical boundries.
  11. i have plenty, as long as were not tying it down to one genre.
  12. also another idea i have/stole from another forum that i was thinking of doing here but didnt think would really work aswell is a weekley album trade, people get a different partner every week and reccomend them an album and they have to review it, but im not sure it would work quite aswell here.
  13. i was thinking of a similar thing aswell actually, so this will save me the trouble  on twitter i take part in this thing called #lpgroup where we all stimutaneously listen to an album and tweet about it at the same time, i think that would be really cool to try here but the trouble would be getting everyone to take part at one specific time, for that reason i don't think it would work here and a more pick one album per week/month/whatever and we all discuss/review type thing would work better. if it's the former i think it works better if it's an album everyone loves, on the latter it would work better with more unknown albums. also i think if it's done monthly the album would be easier picked the same way i do with the film club, nominations then a vote, where as if it was more frequently like weekly i think it would be better to take it in turns, one person picks one week, another the next and so on.

Oxs7phFtT4k starts this Friday, looks like it might be funny, Simon Bird (Will from Inbetweeners) looks like he is good in this anyway.
  15. we really don't need this thread, if you want to discuss what should be the next single do it in the Linkin Park thread: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=114264 closed.

oh im never really bothered about going to gigs alone, i always perfer to go alone than to not go, but tickets had sold out, i'm strongly against touts i'd pay their prices i just wouldnt feed their bast*rdness of exploiting music fans.
  18. this is gonna be so awesome. features Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear produced by Butch Vig recorded on only analog equipment, in Dave Grohl's garage mastered by Alan Moulder this is all too awesome for my brain.
  19. yeah thats what i've been most lookign forward to. What i've heard so far has a right 90's sound to it aswell. this album is gonna be great.
  20. I might check this out, have an album or two and like them lots but rarely listen to them, a retrospective of them should be nice.

i'm jealous, i wanted to go last night, sold out before i managed to get tickets/i had no one to go with.
  22. yes. also same price on amazon.
  23. I just watched it. To be honest I didnt think it was anything special, the only thing particulary special about the film was Huffman's brilliant and very convincing performance, I thought Kevin Zegers who played Toby was fairly good aswell but was overshadowed by Huffman. Filmmaking wise there wasnt really much interesting going on (in contrast to last months pick Ameile), I felt there were many plot points that should have had much more emotional impact than they did, I found myself not caring at certain points when I should have been, I guess that goes down to some bad pacing and maybe bad writing. Sadly I didnt think it was that much of an interesting representation of a Transexual, something I think is never addressed in film, there is clearly room for filmmakers to push the boundries with the representation of transexuals, i'm not sure I can even name another film that even features a transexual, I think this film may have possibly missed the chance to really say something about transexualism. The story of the film is good but I just feel that it maybe wasnt padded out enough to make it an interesting film that lacks any emotional impact where as really it should, however Huffman's performance is extremely well done and is what in my opinion makes the film. 6.8/10
  24. predictable but very deserving top 2.
