    Travesty :drama:

Oh God, Jay's going to be saved isn't he.

I'm amazed they STILL haven't split up.

How are they still such dire performers?
  5. In theory it could, but given the complete lack of any courage he's shown to date, and how quickly he gives in whenever he faces criticism for anything vaguely different to the status quo, I won't hold my breath.
  6. I don't think it can be that, because YouGov's poll asked about whether people recognised various Labour people, and Umunna came out pretty low on that score (lower even than Sadiq Khan and that God-awful Tristram Hunt). I suppose it's just the fact he's good-looking and speaks something vaguely resembling English (rather than Politician-ese) means he makes a good first impression with that video that the respondents were shown. Which surprises me a bit, because I would've thought people would've gone off that kind of "slick" insincere type of politician now.
  7. What about the fact the Irish Labour party, carrying out the sorts of policies you're so keen on, have absolutely hemorrhaged support? And what about the fact that this is by no means confined to Ireland -- centre ground parties are rapidly losing support to the "extremes" in pretty much every European country bar Germany.
  8. Oh look, yet another country having the temerity to not realise they're supposed to vote for "centre ground" parties.
  9. Interestingly, polls show Alan Johnson as leader would only do a couple of % better than Ed, while Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper as leader would actually do WORSE (though it might not be representative in Cooper's case because I'm not sure how well known she is).

Eh, I thought Only The Young were really good tbh. And I thought their Abba cover a few weeks ago was a travesty.

YES! That would suit him so well. He has technically the best voice imo, but of course people are going to vote for Jay James in their droves because he was in the army *sigh*
  12. Hahaha, that interview reminds me why I used to like her so much. She's so much more interesting like this than her bogus "nation's sweetheart" persona. What else has happened?
  13. Anywho, I am sorely tempted by that 20/1 for Hazza Harman being next Labour leader...
  14. Do you? Brown atleast got a grudging level of respect from people, and there was atleast a vague sense that he believed in helping the poorest. The most damaging thing for Ed is people just don't think he believes in or stands for anything at all -- they just see him as a career politician jockeying (badly) for a cushy position for himself, with no explanation of WHY he wants it.
  15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29934630 If this gimmicky nonsense counts as one of their "policies", then I suppose this partly explains how they could apparently have more policies than any other opposition in history yet still not have anything coherent or interesting to say on the things that actually matter.
  16. Do you honestly, in your heart of hearts, believe a sum as small as £100m would be enough to pay for that? To pay for the increased GP salaries and all the extra resources that would be needed? And don't get me started on them actually trying to use "cutting bureaucracy" as some kind of explanation. And it's the same story for most of their other so-called "policies", which are really just pious wishes with no feasible explanations of how they will be achieved (childcare, their pathetic "jobs guarantee", etc.). If this is what "credibility" looks like... I stand corrected on the energy price freeze.
  17. LMAO, I've heard this line trotted out so much, and it's total nonsense. Most of what they describe as "policies" are not actually policies at all. To take an example, that thing about "guaranteeing" people can see a GP within 48 hours, with no explanation of how that will be achieved -- that's not a policy. Similarly, in Miliband's comically awful speech last month, with all that waffle about "policy goals" and how Labour "wanted" more apprenticeships and "wanted" people to own their own homes, again with no explanations of how that would be made to happen -- they're not policies. A policy is when you say "this is definitely going to happen, and here's how we're going to make it happen, here's the people it will involve to make it happen, here's how much it will cost and here's where the money's going to come from". And of the few actual, proper policies they've announced, they always seem to forget about most of them (didn't they even junk the energy price freeze this year when they inexplicably decided they needed to suck up to big-business fat cats? I haven't heard them mention it in ages).
  18. Oh great, another poll which will give the Progress Tendency in charge false comfort and allow them to keep deluding themselves about how their strategy is leading to glorious success: http://www1.politicalbetting.com/index.php...-on-to-3-seats/ As someone who canvassed in Wirral West until a couple of years ago, I flat-out don't believe Labour are on course to win that seat. Even back then, countless people there were saying that, although grudgingly admitting Labour might be the lesser of two evils, they really doubted whether they'd be bothered enough to vote since Labour didn't seem to be offering any policies and they didn't think a single thing would be any different if they got into power. And if anything Labour now have even less policies than they did then.
  19. I almost went for the Tories winning that seat instead actually! A year ago, on paper it was looking like a really interesting 4-way marginal, though obviously now the SNP will take it if they surge anything like as much as the polls are indicating. My bet on Labour ousting Clegg in Sheffield Hallam is also looking none too clever now, but on the plus side I got on UKIP winning Thurrock at the right time.
  20. In my defense, I made that bet when I thought Labour might get an overall majority and when I thought they'd have a decent-sized lead over the SNP in Scotland. Needless to say, I don't think either of those things anymore! My main reasoning was that constituency has a very high rate of public-sector employment, which is usually a sign of a seat that's trending towards Labour (even really wealthy public-sector workers often vote Labour these days since the Tories have such an irrational hatred for them), but even so it would probably need to be a very good election for Labour for them to actually have a shot of taking it from so far behind.
  21. Do you now think North East Fife is a surefire SNP gain? I put a bet on Labour winning it last year, but am now bitterly regretting it :drama:

Yeah, I know loads of people who like him and talking about him like he's a shoo-in to win. I just don't see it at all? I mean he can hold a tune (which sadly can't be taken for granted with the quality of some of the contestants this year), but he's just so bland and unremarkable. He reminds me of Kye from a few years ago. In spite of myself, I thought Only The Young were the best last night, a pretty drastic bounceback from the one of the worst performances in X Factor history on the sing-off last week.
  24. Even Ed Miliband has done "soapbox tours". (Out of interest, who do you think is a more engaging speaker, Murphy or EdM? I honestly think it would be a very close call.)
  25. Poll results are in, and have confirmed the extent of the glorious recovery that Jim "Funereal" Murphy will lead Scottish Labour to: Standard Holyrood voting intention: SNP 46%, Labour 28% Holyrood voting intention with Murphy as leader: SNP 47%, Labour 29% http://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumul...otland-FULL.pdf But I'm sure such an irrelevant thing as public opinion will not dissuade the Westminster bubble convincing themsleves through mindless groupthink that this is some uber-charismatic heavyweight who can save the party (or, indeed, humanity itself).
