Inner Massivia New Music Melody Express After the shocking failure of Melanie Fiona to qualify for BJSC XIII, a result which has sent the country into depression and recession, the Ministry of Popular Music has announced a change of tack for BJSC XIV. Inner Massivia says thanks for the support! Got to be honest and say we're absolutely shocked not to qualify with a song and singer as strong as that, particularly with it being a brand new artist and seeing some of the awful songs put through. We'd have thought song would override genre but we're starting to have doubts! Of the 7 other non-qualifiers in SF1 we only voted for one of the failing songs and they only just managed tenth place in our jury's voting on a last minute toss of a coin. Of the 13 qualifiers from SF1, Inner Massivia scored four of them below 5/10 (scores of 0, 2, 4 and 4.5) - there was one we objected to in principal, one was utterly atrocious and we question people's sanity in voting for it, one a big bag of nothing and one missed out on an annoying technicality otherwise would have scored higher. Three songs scored over 7/10 (7, 7.5 and 8), with the other 6 fighting out the middle ground. We'd have placed our own song above the middle ground and just below the top three. I don't think our top three would be a surprise - they've received much publicity. We avoided listening to any of the songs before having a one-off listening party so as to come to each song fresh. In many ways we might have been slightly prejudiced against those three songs because of the hype, but they really were a class above the rest and fully deserved the highest marks. Looking forward to listening to the SF2 qualifiers now.

The President of Inner Massivia, Professor Sir Quintas de Cancellara, has arrived in the arena to watch the results live. Back home in Inner Massivia all terrestrial and satellite TV channels are taking live coverage of the semi-final results. A crowd of over 30,000 has gathered in Alt Markt to watch the proceedings of a big screen despite the freezing temperatures. They're fighting off the hypothermia with a free supply of warming gluwine and hot samosas as provided by local supermarket Tescbury's.

Inner Massivia New Music Melody Express The jurors of Inner Massivia has now voted in BJSC XIII Semi Final 1 and the results sent to Kopečka. Some concluding thoughts from Noel Gallagher, this month's Guest Foreman of the Jury, as always avoiding mentioning any specific songs: Only 9 songs scored more than 5/10. Highest score was 8/10 and two songs received 0/10. The overall quality was poor we thought as you can see by our scoring. We avoided listening to the hyped songs prior to today to give each country an equal chance. As such the Inner Massivia jury think some songs were overhyped, but would also add they can only beat the competition they're up against ;) As a result of the "big listen" as we call it in Inner Massivia, we're now much more hopeful of qualifying strongly with Melanie Fiona! Also after a while female electropop merges into one big amorphous aural experience, however if that's the only way to win we have a cracker lined up for BJSC XIV.

The final Inner Massivia voting party is currently taking place - votes will be sent later.

It would be pointless - iTunes album sales have a minimal impact on the album chart.

It's not a b-side. It has been promoted to radio in the UK and the video released in the UK. In effect it's the second single. You could call it a dual single or a sister single I suppose to IIWAB. It's becoming more common for crossover artists in the States to release different singles simultaneously to different radio formats.

So few of the top CDs in the Reading branch of Zavvi - no Lady GaGa, no Kings of Leon, no Duffy, no Take That, no Leona, no Girls Aloud, no James Morrison ... loads of the Killers album though and plenty of their back catalogue on sale.

The early bird into town catching the proverbial promotional worm was the entry from The Kingdom Of Shadow, Lights. The young Canadian singer/songwriter performed a perky two song acoustic set in the intimate Lively Lounge at the Mezzanine Bowl to great acclaim. The performance was streamed live on MassiviaNet, and will be a feature item on tonight's The Late Late Culture Show on IMTV1. Lights will also be interviewed by esteemed music broadcaster Ghouls Collander about her nascent career and her entry into BJSC XIII. It was of course highly appropriate that The Kingdom Of Shadow was the first nation to visit Inner Massivia for this edition of the BJSC, as their entry Belinda received the first 12 points ever awarded by our country in a final when we debuted last month in BJSC XII. Professor Sir Quintas de Cancellara, President of Inner Massivia, personally greeted Lights after her performance and wished her and The Kingdom Of Shadow good luck in the competition. We hope to see them in Kopečka.
