☃ iTunes Chart // Christmas 2008
Are you being serious? It's a rip-off of the Bryan Adams/Mel C duet with a bit of high school musical thrown in for good measure!!

BJSC XII Results!
Inner Massivia can confirm that despite our non-qualification, all terrestrial and satellite channels will be taking live coverage of the Final. The BJSC Appreciation Society has gathered in the Chart Club in the Alt Markt, Attacktonia to watch the results come in. Two special guests are in attendance - Sir Tom Jones who acted as a guest juror for BJSC XII and Melanie Fiona, the amazing young singer-songwriter who will represent Inner Massivia in BJSC XIII. An interesting rumour to emerge in the club is that all ten acts to receive points from the Inner Massivia jury coincidentally have the letter "L" in their name.

BJSC XII Final Predictions Thread
I think the big shock could be Mdiče's Frankmusik-Three Little Words doing worse than expected by some. Yes it's electropop, but it's dull electropop. On the other hand I expect Kingdom of Shadow's Belinda-End of the Day to do better than than seers have foretold.

BJSC XII Final Voting.
My highest mark was 8/10 which two songs achieved. Eleven songs scored 5 or less.

The Green Room [Best of BJSC//BJSC XII]
Pavel - can we have an update on who has voted and who hasn't on the voting thread? I think at least 5 more have done since the last update. Cheers!

Predict: Geraldine McQueen - Once Upon A Christmas Song
I loved the Kay programme, and the premise of the song after the show was a good one but this is tedious $h!te in all honesty. Talk about stretching a joke too far.

Predict: Geraldine McQueen - Once Upon A Christmas Song
Remember it was claimed there were 1 million pre-orders for A Moment Like This yet it sold 570k in its first week and even now is only around 850k. And that's from Leonazilla, slayer of the charts.

Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 19th Dec 2008
Going to have to slightly disagree with you here Dave as the album title was bifunctional as there were two separate Live - The Way We Walk albums .... The 1991 studio album from Genesis was named We Can't Dance and one of the lead singles was "I Can't Dance" with the repeated line "I cant dance, I cant talk. Only thing about me is the way I walk." During the subsequent "We Can't Dance" tour the band did a very stilted walk during this song, a black and gold silhouetted representation of which on a white background was used as the cover of a live album (with "I Can't Dance" as one of the tracks) released in the UK in November 1992: "The Way We Walk, Volume One: The Shorts" Another live album was released shortly after in January 1993 called: "The Way We Walk, Volume Two: The Longs" The difference between the two doesn't need explaining .... the second album contained the song you mentioned, "I Know What I Like", as part of a medley thus providing a neat titular bridge between the two live albums. The same silhouette was used on the cover but this time the band members were multicoloured on a white background. The Short album peaked at #3, the Long album at #1.

out of all the entrants in BJSC XII I think it's only Rivandia who aren't on the map yet.

Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
Indeed that's exactly what I'm saying - the video was uploaded to Polydor's YT Channel alongside all the other videos for GA singles and was on the Box, Smash Hits etc. The song was also available for download.
-
Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
By my rules the song: i) had a video which was distributed to music channels - here it is uploaded on the Girls Aloud's own record company YouTube channel alongside all the other GA singles: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0DebmhCx8EA ii) was made available to download thus fits two criteria for being a single. Apply each rule with no bias and you have no problems.

Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
I'm finding no logic in your arguments here Robin. In the digital age to me "singles" are: i) songs which are actively promoted to radio as the next single ii) songs which have a promotional video shot and distributed to the music TV channels iii) songs which are made available for download outside of the album, digipack or B-side format iv) songs which appear on physical format as an A-side If a song charts and fits one of the above criteria it is a single.

Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
The record company authorised them appearing. They authorised the recording of the song. They authorised the release of it to iTunes. They authorised the release of the video. A can't see a clearer case of a single.

Inner Massivia National Thread
Inner Massivia Herald Tribune Riots in Inner Massivia died away this afternoon after 21 hours of violent disturbance. The catalyst for the return to order was the rumour that the Nonsuch entry into BJSC XII Lisa Miskovsky was flying in by helicopter to perform a gig at the Mezzanine Bowl. Rioters, insurgents, and ne'erdowells linked arms with the police, army and elite security forces and marched en masse to the Bowl to watch the Swedish songstress perform an outstanding 2 song set. In a state radio broadcast following the concert the President of Inner Massivia, Professor Sir Quintas de Cancellara, personally thanked the people of Nonsuch for their humanitarian gesture in sending Ms Miskovsky in as a artistic force of peacekeeping. In a later private conversation between the leaders of the two countries, Cancellara agreed that perhaps the Lewis track was a little left stream for the contest and Melanie Fiona may have been a wiser first entry. However Melanie will be a proud representative in BJSC XIII.

Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
Of course the only reason it was removed was because the film had some of the worst reviews of all-time and was absolutely tanking at the box office. They recorded a single for the film, produced a video to go with it and released the song to download. A clear single. And one which flopped.
-
Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
I think if you've released a physical and/or a video to promote it then it counts as a single. Album tracks and b-sides sneaking in because of the popularity of the A-side or the album in the week of release should be discarded from consideration. I think that's a very clear rule then when establishing these continuous runs.

BJSC XII Semifinal results. LIVE!
I wasn't the keenest, think it struggled to go anywhere fast, however positions 5-10 on my list were virtually tied and I has to resort to 1/4 points to separate most of them and even then you still ended up tied and lost out on one position higher on a coin toss.

BJSC XII Semifinal results. LIVE!
I like the song and we may change tact as a country - it's just it's already a hit to me as its all over Radio 1 getting airplay aplenty so got an automatic 0 points. Otherwise would have been easily in our top 10.

Kingdom of Shadow National Thread
Inner Massivia International Herald Tribune Despite the rioting which still cascades across the capital, the President of Inner Massivia issued this statement today: "We may mourn the passing of our entry in BJSC XII, but we are a responsible next of kin and bequeath all voting organs to Kingdom of Shadow's entry Belinda who we hope will go on to live a long and fruitful life in the final. We'd also like to introduce a new artist who'll be representing us in BJSC XIII, Melanie Fiona:" rTQXWxSrCx8

The Green Room [Best of BJSC//BJSC XII]
It was our first entry so I tried to make each gig individual and tailored to the country in question. Pointless really if the song isn't good enough .... thought it was an interesting non-commercial choice myself with it being an early demo, despite coming from a known artist, though not sure the genre was the best fit for BJSC.
