In terms of their 3rd album as well - Midnight Memories and You & I were terrible choices. They performed Through the Dark on SNL in the US - that would have been a brilliant single. Luckily Best Song Ever and Story Of My Life were really strong tracks, but Through the Dark could have been very popular (given its similar style to Story of My Life). For this album, I'm really surprised Ready to Run wasn't chosen either. Although them not performing Night Changes on the X Factor was odd, I wish they released Where Do Broken Hearts Go anyway - that was a fabulous performance so I can't knock it. Night Changes was an OK choice though, and they did perform it a lot anyway. But yeah, there is a lot of goodness on Four that remains undiscovered for a lot of people outside of their fanbase. Tracks like the Ed Sheeran-penned "18" and the brilliant "Stockholm Syndrome" that really show a different side to them. They could appeal to a much wider fanbase than they currently do if their official campaign had a better focus, although they're not doing too shabby as it is of course. I do wonder if Zayn leaving is the best thing that could have happened to them though, given its meant that a lot of the kiddie merch has been thrown out of the window. Got to say their promo as a whole is pretty terrible though. Will never forget the beginning of last year when they weren't interviewed for months despite being on tour (their team was refusing them with local radio stations and all) until finally they had one single day of promo - for their new perfume. Those lads sat there shading the whole thing. So, so disinterested in the product they were selling that it was actually quite hilarious. At one point I think Harry said he didn't have a sense of smell, then followed it up by turning to one of the others and saying "what? It gets rid of the questions." Compare that to their interview on James Corden's show this week - where it was pushed how grown up and different they are now as well. Much better. If they stuck to the old ways for much longer, they wouldn't last much longer I don't think. I mean tbf I never paid much attention to them until Midnight Memories. I'm a similar age to them (almost 23) but always presumed they were a lot younger and childish because of the way they are/ were marketed.

To be fair, the whole No Control campaign was less about chart positions and more about bringing attention to both the song and the album it comes from. The fact its been played on major radio stations around the world (including Radio 1) because of the project was pretty much the "win" for the fans - especially as the band have acknowledged their efforts too. The general consensus in the 1D fandom since November last year seems to have been that Steal My Girl was one of the worst songs on the album, or at least should never have been chosen as a single over at least 4 or 5 other tracks. The only real reason "No Control" is getting a major push in particular is because its been a fan favourite from the start (I remember fan polls going around at the time of the album release, where thousands of fans were asked to rank the tracks from 1 to 12 with 1 being the favourite, and No Control came first and Steal My Girl came last). On top of that, despite its major popularity and the boys being aware of this, the song has so far NOT been performed on their worldwide stadium tour. The fans were getting pretty annoyed (and I think its well established by now that the vocal fans hate their management/ label and the way they are promoted) so decided to take things into their own hands and joined together for this project. Given that Louis Tomlinson is getting a lot of press at the moment too, the timing was pretty good as he carries the whole song (which is rare for the band) and the Zayn part is pretty limited as well. (Naughty Boy's twitter war with Louis also contributed to this song being chosen too, I guess, with NB tweeting Louis to say he couldn't sing). Pretty cool to see the track in the top 200 across the world though, with reports of it being play-listed on radio stations in countries such as Russia and India even. I just think that if they add the track to their new set-list, starting with the shows in Cardiff Millennium Stadium next month, the fans will be pleased enough. As an update, current positions: No Control #1 Sweden #2 Finland #2 Malta #4 Azerbaijan #8 Sweden #9 Indonesia #13 Netherlands #18 Philippines #20 Finland #20 Romania #24 Czech Republic #29 Denmark #31 Ireland #33 Netherlands #34 Malaysia #34 Norway #38 Greece #41 Spain #42 Denmark #42 Poland #49 Philippines #52 Brazil #56 Belarus #56 Singapore #65 Italy #66 Indonesia #68 Oman #87 New Zealand #91 Norway #98 Italy #114 India #116 Australia #120 Malaysia #122 United Kingdom #124 Ireland #125 South Africa #126 Lithuania #139 United Kingdom #152 Austria #153 Switzerland #165 Russia #169 Belgium #170 Estonia #171 Estonia #181 Australia #186 Mexico #190 France #195 Spain That's the power of the internet for you.

Wouldn't know how to check how its going, but there is literally a Spotify playlist being posted around which has No Control on it 4000 times, with fans being asked to keep it going day and night. I really wouldn't underestimate them haha

Keeping an eye on the charts to see how the #NoControlDay project by One Direction fans is going to go down. Not expecting much from over here, but its present Itunes positions worldwide are: No Control #1 Sweden #3 Azerbaijan #4 Finland #9 Sweden #11 Indonesia #14 Philippines #30 Netherlands #32 Norway #38 Ireland #43 Netherlands #51 Finland #54 Denmark #54 Philippines #60 Poland #63 Singapore #65 Oman #75 Malaysia #80 Spain #82 Malaysia #85 Italy #87 Brazil #93 Indonesia #99 Norway #101 New Zealand #109 Denmark #123 Ireland #124 Italy #139 United Kingdom #154 United Kingdom #158 Australia #167 Estonia #168 Estonia #170 Switzerland #196 Mexico Been a very successful project overall though - very interesting to witness.

McBusted - Get Over It
I agree completely. I can't wait to see them play it live at some point too.

McBusted - Get Over It
I think this track might actually be playlisted though. Its VERY radio friendly. It could do really well with a new, different audience if they promote it well and get that backing - not the audience who have already pre-ordered the album.

McBusted - Get Over It
Premièred on the Greg James show on Radio 1 today. Really, really love it. N_pzHir8eBs

It looked like they mimed to me too, their microphones were nowhere near their mouths a few times from memory and the sound didn't change.

Won't be surprised if Air Guitar misses the top 10, but pleased McBusted have announced Get Over It as their next single. Based on the Itunes preview it could do very well. Much more radio friendly.

Got my fingers crossed that McBusted do well, although having listened to the Itunes previews for the album I think there are a couple of more radio-friendly tracks they could have chosen for the debut rather than Air Guitar. Also, as people have already mentioned, all the pre-orders they got in the initial hype of announcing their debut single were lost when they panicked re: copyright issues on the Beyonce line and had to pull that line and pre-order altogether.
