  1. I have to say though, I hate that "say, say, say" bit they've added.
  2. Probably their most serious video since "The Heart Never Lies." Shine a Light was serious in a sense (no zombies, vampires etc.) but it was more light hearted. Its not amazing, the video. Its a little bit dull - but a nice change for them at the same time. Does make you sit and watch because of the background to it.
  3. It looks so much like its all about Dougie's split from Frankie. Sure the media will pick up on that.
  4. I definitely agree that it sounds more traditional for them yet different. I'm hoping this will unite the fanbases more. I think, as you said, the previous two singles made a lot of people feel like they were sellouts. That's the Truth more than any track has the chance to deliver something which should not only please fans, but move them a step forward in the minds of the general audience (with a helpful push from the success of Shine A Light). Its all about the marketing I guess. I do think the video looks good from what I have seen - definitely something that is not cringy like "Party Girl" and not as dull as "Shine A Light". Hopefully it will gain interest. Can't wait to see the full thing on Tuesday/Wednesday. Hopefully the track will be added to the radio 1 playlist soon too (and perhaps A Listed!).
  5. Yep, but as you've said all 4 of them have had leads now so they could have picked any of them. Looking at the preview I reckon they've deliberately chosen Dougie for the lead because of the split from Frankie - whether it be because he wanted to send out a message there, or just to give it a bit more publicity. Could be wrong, of course. zSKaIU07UNQ
  6. Dougie seems to be the lead in the That's the Truth video - makes me wonder if that's because of his split from Frankie!
  7. Adding to what I just wrote, this album is very much the experimental transition album - and that goes for the fans too. They've lost fans and they've gained some. Depending on the music industry in 2011 onwards (if it still favours the style they have gone for with tracks like Shine a Light) I should think they've still got a mountain to climb to gain as many fans as possible with this album as I honestly think they have a better chance than ever to hit the top, and to see what the most successful and liked songs are on the album, so that the next album will hopefully be more consistant and more successful. I really have my fingers crossed for That's the Truth. I hope it does well - but its not the most commercially friendly track on the album. I'd say its more a track the old fans can cling to while the new ones can see hints of progress inside - but not neccesarily enough.
  8. Actually, I hate to talk bad about them because I am a fan - but there are only 16 000 paid subscription fans signed up to the website and that includes fans worldwide. Therefore its not made a huge difference to album sales here bearing in mind they're the most extreme fans and so most will probably have bought the album too. So, if this album doesn't pick up they've just got to make sure they pick the right tracks and keep the longevity that Shine a Light has started + keep the website going and keep selling tour tickets. If they can't do those things, then thats when they will get into trouble. If the album doesn't pick up after this release or the next but the singles do well I can see them releasing an extra track than usual (making it up to 5 singles) to make sure as much of the music gets out there and heard as possible. I honestly can't see the rumoured rerelease of the album doing too well.
  9. McFly wont split up - it all depends on how successful they remain and/or their ability to reinvent themselves. They've managed to gain a new high (in the singles chart, longevity!) after 7 years of which at least 5 were like just holding on to something. I guess it all depends on new trends and the ability to reinvent themselves for all artists. I can see Rihanna still going in 5 years time - and actually I think Katy Perry has a good chance, too.

McFly have suffered a lot from the Glee songs climbing. Looks like if this carries on all week they'll drop out of the top 30 in the chart on Sunday!

I think it depends on the song. I don't think That's the Truth will grab them as much, but I was flicking through Twitter after they band performed Nowhere Left to Run on Alan Carr's show, and the amount of comments I read from people saying things like "Wow, second McFly song I've liked in a row! Shocking!" etc. lead me to believe the song could have the same attention if they release it. Whatever happens, the next few releases should be interesting. Although, I completely agree about Taio's, well, I'd call it reputation in the music industry. He's quite cool really - I guess that's the word for it. Definitely added credibility. I do wonder how it would have performed if it was the McFly-only version on their album which was released. Seems the Glee tracks are finally kicking it towards the botton half of the charts now, though. Seems to be going further and further down. So on the debate on whether or not its a help or a hinder having an older track there - I don't think it matters now!
  12. I think One for the Radio and Do Ya are two of the worst tracks on Radio:Active. I remember the fans being upset when they chose to release Do Ya so I'm not suprised it bombed. Tracks like 'POV' and 'The End' are great. 'Falling in Love' is nice too. Some of the other tracks suffer from the choice of production style though, I think. In the same way that some on Above the Noise do, I reckon.
  13. As a fan I dislike I'll Be Your Man, actually. Not a fan at all. I think its probably the most boring track they've recorded. Although, having said that I love the accoustic. Odd, I know. End of the World is good, but it samples from War of the Worlds so its not their most original track. Nowhere Left to Run is very strong. But yeah, its definitely a mixed bag and no doubt an experiment. The next album will be interesting.

I think its pretty much been proven that its not Taio's fanbase, as he doesn't really have one. He just appeals to general music lovers - and Shine a Light has done the same. The question is whether or not these buyers will enjoy the new single as much. Its different in style. I've said before that they have tracks on the album which should really appeal to them (Nowhere Left to Run/ Take Me There). I'm not sure if That's the Truth is one them, however it is a hit with fans and I really like it. It is one of their stronger tracks. I honestly can't see it having a run like Shine a Light, though. McFly are certainly at their most unpredictable right now, though.

McFly out of the top 20 for the first time since Shine a Light was released 10 weeks ago! Who'd have thought I'd be able to say that now.
  16. It will go top 20 but its pretty below average stuff - even for a Westlife single.
  17. I don't think its a demo, I think someone has just altered it so that it wont be taken off youtube for copyright like the normal track does. It was the closest version I could find as other alterations sound very distorted. I think That's the Truth has an awesomely catchy chorus - but very dull and forgettable verses.
  18. Hmm, wonder what the suprise is. I guess its linked to That's the Truth?
  19. So glad McFly have finally had another 200k + selling single. Its sad looking at their worst sellers - one of them was deserved but tracks like 'Room on the Third Floor' and 'Friday Night' should have done so much better.
  20. I think McFly are at their most unpredictable at the moment, certainly. Apart from Do Ya, I reckon some of the strongest songs have been released last! Room on the 3rd Floor & Transylvania come to mind - even if they didn't do as well as they should have done. Ultraviolet/ the Ballad of Paul K are good songs too. Honestly, I think NLTR is different enough to not act like a usual McFly last release. I think its the sort of track Radio 1 would like as they usually stand by McFly from memory!

    I wish! :D
  22. It happened in a webchat with Harry, but to be honest he came across very biased, mentioning how his housemates thought it was the best choice etc. while asking for people to vote - which is why I believe it won against Nowhere Left to Run. When they asked fans to guess what the new single was in a later webchat they said the top vote was wrong - and judging by earlier votes it was probably Nowhere Left to Run that they guessed. Still, I think it will work leaving it as a last release - especially as it will be close to the summer.
  23. McFly have confirmed 'That's the Truth' will be released on the 6th March.

Upstairs, Downstairs had a version of Feeling Good on its trailers on the BBC, but its wasn't Muse. Still could have helped.

Yeah, it was. Suprising. Was a good performance too. It sounded a bit different. Its on youtube. I was expecting them to sing Shine a Light too. NLTR is at #175 now.
