McFly back up at 14 I see - showing a lot of stability in the Itunes chart. Seems every time a new track comes along and passes it an old track falls behind Shine a Light to make up for it. Hope this continues for a while yet.

McFly still holding on at #15 and if the X Factor track falls further they could end up at #14. Would be great if they could stick around there for another week!
  3. A high definitely has to be McFly's chart run for Shine A Light! Its nothing particularly amazing, but it is for them! Great sales, too. I think they have a great year ahead. A low point? Hmm, I'm not sure. It'll probably be the X Factor scoring another number 1 this Christmas.
  4. I get what you mean but June/ July seems ages away! & other tracks in the same style are doing well now, like Rihanna - Only Girl in the World. She's been doing fantastically with the track, although she is Rihanna! I'm not sure if it really matters if the song is 'summery' or not?! Just in case some of you are wondering what we are talking about, I could only find live versions of Nowhere Left to Run: Ol5mDJ-MWwY Anyway, I keep checking the itunes chart and Shine a Light keeps going up and down. The tracks around there are so close to each other. I wonder if the sales for Shine a Light are rising/ decreasing or if Katy Perry etc. keep going up and down. Or if Itunes is being stupid. I wonder if they will end up staying at #15 in the chart tomorrow. Will be awesome (and very suprising) if so. I saw the John Lewis advert for the first time yesterday. I'm actually quite suprised its had such an affect on Ellie Goulding's cover in the charts. :o I don't think its anything amazing. Just nice. I like the original though.

  6. I think they're deciding which to release first out of NLTR and That's the Truth, but I think both will get released at some stage. That's the Truth wont have the same affect as NLTR I don't think, but NLTR especially could definitely have longevity on Itunes if it gets off to a good start (which it can do with low album sales). I think maybe they should release that first, then people will feel less bothered about buying tracks from the guys (after Shine a Light as well) and so That's the Truth could also do very well (as well as the album). Although I always tend to disagree with what McFly choose, so they're bound to go for different tracks completely now (against fans wishes!). Is the remix for Shine a Light the Westfunk & Steve Smart? Just searched on youtube and found it, sounds pretty good. Not heard it on radio 1.
  7. Party Girl might have climbed because it was voted to best video of the year on a T4 show earlier? Although I doubt it had much of an affect. The songs still growing on me, I heard it for the first time on my new telly and the speakers are much better - Party Girl sounded awesome in a way it didn't before.
  8. Yeah! It was at that Jingle Ball thing too, so I don't think its going to be on TV. Might have been on the radio? I heard the same about Hayley Williams.
  9. Wow at McFly back up! They just performed with Taio for the first time.
  10. I hope McFly can go back up to 15 at least. They're still at 13 on Itunes and I think Mike Posner has fallen behind them? I want them to stick or rise, just because it would be so strange for them! Its strange enough that they're still so high after 4 weeks.

If McFly can stay at about 12 on Itunes maybe they could actually climb/ stay in the same position in the charts next week! Now that would be awesome. Fingers crossed.

When I heard Shine a Light the presenter was like "We are looking forward to their new single, collaborating with Tinchy Stryder!" Joking of course. Well, I hope  Never heard Party Girl! Sure they never played any tracks by McFly before then. Makes me think Shine a Light isn't on their playlist just because of Taio though! Radio 1 have had Shine a Light on their A List longer than usual too! I think. Definitely all helping it chart well.

I agree re: the difference to Party Girl and its video being aimed at the fanbase! I think another point is airplay actually - I heard Shine a Light playing on Galaxy fm. They're not usually on there, I'm sure! I really want to see McFly release 'Nowhere left to Run' purely as I'm interested in what the general audience will think. I think the fans are pretty split on it - those of us who are open to McFly trying new styles really love it, but those who prefer the more traditional McFly aren't a fan at all. I think NLTR would do very well on Itunes. If you haven't heard it I'd have a listen.

It makes it all the harder to make sense of with this Super City website they have, with them having given the album away for free. They gave away a version of Shine a Light without Taio before Shine A Light's release too. I'd like to think they could get a top 10 album again at least. Above the Noise did quite well on Itunes, was top 10 for a few days. The 'fans' usually get the physical copies.

As a fan of McFly, I'd say that the song as simply a McFly song has appeal out of the fanbase, however the addition of Taio Cruz likely, for some non-fans at least, makes the song credible enough to buy as McFly are uncool usually. Hope you get what I mean. But I do wonder if their sudden appeal to the general music audience again will help their next singles do well, and I think they have songs good enough to keep the good weekly charting (for them at least) up.

I think depending on what they release from the new album, the next singles could give us a better idea on whether it is the Taio Cruz effect or not. Especially as the album has sold poorly. There are some tracks on it which I really think non-fans would love.

:o How long have McFly been back at 11? Shame they're quite behind Take That at 10. Hope they keep this up. So far so good. Depending on the impact of new tracks its possible that next week they could stay at the same chart position as this week rather than falling further. Or at least only a drop of about 2-4.

    McFly sales still very good!

McFly just performed on Alan Tichmarsh. Might gain a few sales.
  20. I think they'll try and repromote the album after the next single or the single after that which might bump it back up if they release the right tracks. Fingers crossed for the guys. They're trying to get a performance on the X Factor but that will never happen.

    I'd give a fortune.

Ahh, McFly to 11. Hope they go back up to 10! BEPs seem to have jumped forward again!

Just noticed a tribute version of Shine a Light has turned up at 800 and something. Miles away from the top 40 thank goodness, but why do people bother buying these versions?!

I disagree, I like the songs, especially Foolish, but they're best left as album material. Nowhere Left to Run/ That's the Truth are better for singles, with Take Me There at a push. They didn't write If U C Kate so I doubt they'll release it, Foolish is just an album ender, This Song is good but not really anything exciting enough to get the Itunes buyers interested. Its more a fan song, as is I Need a Woman. The End of the World would be a strong single but its not their most original track as it relys on the sample from War of the Worlds. I'm happy they've asked their fans, because if they had done the same in the past we might not have had the disaster of a release which was Do Ya. Onto the subject of Duffy, I haven't heard the new track? I quite like Duffy, especiall 'Warwick Avenue' by her. The video is so pretty too. I'll have to listen but I have the feeling I'll be disappointed with it if its not doing well. Having said that, I absolutely love Hurts and their releases have done so badly on Itunes :( Probably partly my fault as I haven't bought any of their singles, but I'm getting the album soon so there's no point. Dreading the obvious number 1 this week. *Goes off to listen to Bowie*.

A shame about the album but will boost sales of That's the Truth/ Nowhere Left to Run whichever one of them they choose. (they asked the fans and those two were very close, so even though That's the Truth won they could still go for Nowhere Left to Run). Because so few people own the album people could start cherry picking from the album as soon as the new single starts getting promoted though, so they'll have to choose the date wisely. I have higher hopes for Shine a Light. I think it will be top 15 next week.
