  1. I'm not going to vote, but I will comment. I like all three groups, but Saturdays have made such an impact on me in such a short time. They are easily my favourite. Based on three listens to the Sats, I'd say it is worse. Only Vulnerable on their album is worse than this for them, they can do much better - but it could really grow on me!

I didn't like it at the start but I got wowed towards the end - couldn't believe the twist they threw in with regards to Annie, really wasn't expecting it. Not really a fan of Gilbert but it doesn't look like he'll be returning. Watching George's sex scenes at work was a cringe.

Amazing collaboration, I can't wait for it! I know Alan is right about the album not having any more hits (though in terms of progress, a No.6 album after a No.36 album is headed in the right direction), but I have no doubt there will be a future album - the woman is a Grammy winner and a Mercury Music Prize nominee (for the album as a whole, which is critically acclaimed), there's no doubt at all she'll be back with more material, it's not as if we're talking a novelty one hit wonder who has no chance of future success - she has plenty of chance with the right record again - she came close to the top 10 with 1980 long before American Boy!
  4. I agree, Saturdays are already the UK's best girlband for me BUT I prefer Walk This Way... I really am not keen on this thus far.
  5. Really pleased for our artists, mainly Adele, Estelle, Duffy and Coldplay, what a great lot of the main awards they took! Also really pleased for John Mayer and Jennifer Hudson but sad that Jason Mraz took nothing :(
  6. 'Gravity' is one of the most deserved awards of the whole shebang! An amazing performance and song!
  7. Oh I'm pages back... not blown away by the clip to be honest, hope it's good though!
  8. Wow, I never got the love for Jump. Easily one of, if not THE, worst things GA have ever done. Compared to Work it's a shambles!

I think Thomas must be back by the look of what Pandora gets up to next week - and the style of the necklace she was wearing! I thought it was another great episode, loving this series, Thomas was very instantly likeable so that made his slotting in easier. I think I am going to start saying 'So nice to meet you', it's sweet. I love the dialogue more than anything, love the lines Jark posted (as well as 'And don't think of moving, they are all mine. And they'll be 400 quid, by X Factor') :D and also 'It's like being fisted by Joe Calzaghe - when Joe's still got his gloves on' :D

But at the end of the day, this is the only reason people are still following Jade's 'story' right now.. even fans of Jade are under no illusion that the women has any discernable talent. She may be dead within months, she is trying to make as much money as she can for her children's future, in my eyes she has little other means of making a decent sum, because she simply doesn't do anything except have people watch her! I am not saying it is what I'd do, I'm saying I can understand why she is doing it. And as for that BLOODY 'Extras' clip, I cannot tell you how BORED I am of it. It was brilliant telly when it was broadcast, you do NOT need it to back up your every point with regards the media. It is so TIRING.

I totally understand that, I personally can understand how some could be uncomfortable with it, but don't find it sick myself as my first thought would be to help my family, especially if they were so young. I guess not everyone can do this, it's the media's fault really for always going with stories like this, and their desperation to follow any aspect of Jade's life.

Hang on a moment, at the end of the day it is a terminal illness, you say it like she's exploting it and is taking advtange of it as if she's going to be fine at the other end of her interviews. She's not, she's likely going to die, she's making her children some money WHILE SHE STILL CAN.

Wendy Richard and Patrick Swayze are rich, older folk who don't have the responsibilty of two kids who are pretty much still babies. She has said quite openly before she is doing the interviews to make money for her kids future. She makes NO bones about it. I like and respect Jade and I think this is an absolutely horrible time for her, you're right of course that she is one of many going through this, and her celebrity status earns her no extra sympathy from me, anyone going through this has my deepest already.

Jark I've just written the same thing on UKMIX, so true! To me it's a drama, but there is so much comedy, they balance and mix it so well! Love Annie, and the nurse from episode 2 :D

Not just because of Slumdog Millionaire, but I never got why people did see how hilrious and well acted Anwar was? Dev Patel is awesome.

Hang on, wasn't it mentioned that Naomi kissed Emily before? The intonation in that sentence is meant to suggest Naomi did the 'coming on'... I haven't just ignored what Aled wrote!

OHHHHHHHH back in school, in last weeks episode? I had forgotten. In that case, you are almost certainly right :P

Two girls kissed?! Was I really that tired? I had to leave the room at one point, but I totally missed that!?
  19. Different musical acts cover different parts of musical satisfaction. My absolute favourites, John Mayer and Jason Mraz have been producing, performing and writing their own credible music for years. Mayer is regarded as one of the greatest modern guitarists, while Mraz has always been applauded for his wordplay and for being a fantastic lyricist. Both have some tunes that make me smile, but I would never put them on if I wanted something to just cheer me up, something I could have fun to. In the same way that I enjoy listening to Booty Luv before I go for a night out, the Saturdays appeal to another part of music I enjoy. Good fun, pure pop music. I don't pretend that anyone in either of these two outfits are musical geniuses. However, there are those within both groups who are immensely talented vocalists. It's quite clear, in my opinion, that most of the Saturdays are better vocalists than 80% of the Spice Girls and 60% of Girls Aloud. When I talk about potential, talent and promise, I don't mean to ever join the Music Hall of Fame and go down as Britain's great musicians, I mean to be one of our best girlgroups, and one of the best outfits out there producing pop music. Different musical acts tick different musical boxes for me. I listen to Jamie T for a different reason than I listen to Maximo Park, for a different reason than I listen to the Saturdays. But all for GOOD reason.

I don't think that was necessarily a revelation.. I think you're probably right but that could have been implied about Emily (as she was talking to her) OR Katie (as she was talking about her)... so you never know!
  21. I think you are ill informed of the Saturdays market. They are actually appealing to a very wide demographic in my opinion. I hate Mariah. I hate Madonna. I don't think much to Kylie, Dannii. I could live without Britney and Christina. But the Saturdays are making modern, cool pop music, I really don't see how any of it is Atomic Kitten-esque bar Issues. I think they are actually seen as quite cool and will over time achieve the same level of cool as Girls Aloud, who it's now okay for anyone and everyone to like. I also would never dream of wearing tight tank tops or whatever it is you are suggesting is gay to wear. I am a polo shirt and jeans, pint of lager type of guy who happens to think the Saturdays are one of the best things to happen to pure pop music in many years. I usually listen to singer songwriters but I can recognise promise, talent, potential and I resent your idea that the fact I see it in these girls makes me a lispy, camp queen.
  22. Is FHM out now? And Jark, I think that might be the first time we've fully agreed on here or on UKMIX haha

I'm REALLY surprised at the criticism! I enjoyed it a lot more than episode one. I did loud LOL's (for want of a better phrase) quite a few times during the episode, admittedly most at Pandora saying 'I've decided I love drugs' or w/e, and then downing them. I am not really understanding the criticism of Cook. You don't like him, but that's the POINT, no? When he was eating all the cake, we were meant to feel disgusted, when he downed that first pint when the girls arrived at the party in total silence, we were meant to feel embarrassed for him and we were generally meant to think throughout the episode that this guy is a total cock. We were meant to feel tired of him, as Freddie did. And you all do, so I think he did a bloody good job. I also think there was a tiny air of 'oh, but he's just a cheeky chappie' at the end when he got $h!t scared by the 'gunshots' of the bike, shat himself, laughed it off and sang his song. Like a tiny little at the end of the likeable tunnel. I think he acted it very well. I am not a fan of the gangster charactetrs ever (unless we're talking proper hard films like Snatch), and I really didn't want to see MacKenzie Crook like that, but I loved the fight scene, how it was the greens against the whites etc. And Cook just in the middle laughing. I might watch it again to remember what else I laughed at. I'd been at work for 17 horus beforehand and I've forgotten it all!
  24. As far as Rochelle's statement go, I'd be more worried if she didn't believe they would. They are good vocalists, making good pop songs. I'd be offended if someone I was a fan of didn't have the belief that they would make a success of themselves. I think it's important in any job to believe you can be the best! Also, it's not without substance, her claim. At the start of last year, there were 4 or 5 new groups being touted as becoming 'the third' of the primary UK girlgroups - most of them to my knowledge have never released a single, let alone had a bigger year than the Sugababes! There has been a degree of success to back them up, if she'd have said it before or during If This Is Love that would be more of a case of believing the hype.
  25. Well bloody said! I swear, some people on here aren't satisfied unless they are moaning and miserable. I don't think I could function if such a tiny thing made me so angry and unhappy. At the end of the day, I like the Saturdays and I like the fact they have been offered this opportunity (for them and for charity), but I can't say it'll be great in the same way that no-one knows it'll be awful, because we haven't heard the bloody thing yet!
