westlife are the band with the most top singles in a row (top 5 also) since their debut release....

the 23rd you are talking about was "im already there" which was not a single, it was only downloaded after they performed on the x factor and does not count as an official single. so all 23 of westlifes singles have made the top 5!! their latest single being "us against the world" which no promo made number 8# their only single not to make the top 5!!

i think it is singling out alot of people who do not have credit card etc.. as they cannot then purchase the singles they really want especially if they are not available on cd, so it is not really fair if the cd single does die out. Therefore the only people who will be able to buy their favourite single is those who have credit cards etc.

once i cannot buy certain singles anymore on cd i will happily download illegally, as im not payin 79p for one song that i can get for free, even though i dont mind paying £3 for the cd that i can hold in my hand. i will only pay for albums of artists if the cd single is taken away for good!

there is only so many downloads because the cd single is hard to find now in shops with only a certain range selling them.

Ohhh i never thought about it like that!!! too true!! I totally agree that we are being forced to stop buying the physical cd as its not even promoted properly in shops anyway, its shoved in some corner or dispalyed in a not so obvious cardboard box!! i remember a time when shops would have one wall with maybe the top 40 or top 20 singles all layed out and everyone could see them.

No i dont think that it would be a fair chart!!! Even at the minute, westlife fans (and other bands as such) love to go out and buy the physical single and it was noted for their last single us against the world a vast number of fans could not find the single or even the cd2 of the single which has the most demand out of their singles, so they lost out on sales through this! Compared to the early 00's when alot of shops like asda,virgin,tesco,wooloworths,hmv,sainsburys and safeways etc all did cd singles. Now the only place i can get cd singles is in hmv in belfast and that is an hour journey away!

I was just talking about it with a few of my mates and they think it is terrible too!! The only main thing that puts some people i know off buying the cd is pricing! I will not pay to download a song with no case etc when i can get it for free, thats why i like buying the cd and then burning it onto my computer, but i still put on the cd!!! I am totally against illegal downloading but if cd singles are finally thrown out then its the only way i will get single songs. However i will always buy albums.

i think the 'singles chart' needs alot more rules to organise it alot more, as it looks like a big mess at the minute with all these old tracks etc.

Aw this is terrible, i only ever download a track when im buying the cd single as well, ,like the recent westlife single i would have downloaded it too. But would always buy the cd when a single is released cause i like to have and feel as though i have acutally purchased something. Even though im against it i will only download illegally if the cd single is definitely finished.
