  1. Fair enough if it's not the next single but it still opens the album and is essentially the second tool of promotion for this album (based on these two facts I'd bet it's her label testing for reaction as to whether it should be second single much in the same way Interscope did with 'Edge of Glory' for GaGa'). It's just no good if she's plumping for a major audience.

    Why so surprised I dislike?

  2. I admit I've never thought much of Beyoncé. Very charismatic (though st the same time, cold) frontwoman with a couple of good songs and a couple of rubbish ones. I've never wished badly on her, never praying for her to do well either. I'm pretty much sat on the fence.

With all the above in mind I have to say, this era has had one of the POOREST most STINKY beginnings of any major artist with a major project in any time I can remember. 'Run the World' flopped because it was tuneless dirge that appealed to no-one other than her chief fanciers. Her label quickly send out a follow-up single which is as equally if not even poorer than the lead. It's shockingly bad. The lack of structure or focus from '1+1'. The hideous vocal juxtaposed with the bare bones production would work if there was some sort of emotion, melody, JUST SOMETHING. It's all so grandiose and self-indulgent but collapses under its own weight of self-importance.

Who is making the decisions here? How can you record 72 songs and these are the ones you choose to promote the album? WTF?

    ETC ETC

  3. Nothing like MAKING AMENDS with online people you've never met and had drama with TWO YEARS AGO

I don't even remember the issue in question let alone the necessity to apologise two years later. Evidently been on someone's mind an awful lot during that time.

    An all round

When did André become a witty queeny boo? I approve.

If you think that post is bizarre you should see the PM I got from him apologising for sending me a PM 2 years ago saying he couldn't stand me.

I really do not understand? :(

  5. It does actually. Perhaps not in a 'convinced this is actually from The Fame sessions' sort of way but in terms of how incredibly frothy and lightweight and boppy-synth-pop-ish it is.

It's a lightweight lycra version of 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody', with definite leaning to her more 'Cherry Cherry Boom Boom' tracks of times past.

The run of 'Highway Unicorn'/'Heavy Metal Lover'/'Electric Chapel' is standing out as rather magnificent at the moment. Such a complex, multi-faceted record...

  6. It looks like something that would come a comfortable second in the Buzzjack cover comp but which would never be real cover art. Also gothic popstars are a bit 2005.

Perhaps this is where Ruust's life is now at? Left Buzzjack to make tacky artwork for popstars and not just the brethren of Buzzjack :o

  7. Every element of this is shocking terrible. The styling, the vocals, the lyrics, the production on the song. The epitome of cliché. Is this genuinely some person's vision of what people WANT from pop music in 2011?!
  8. 'Keep It Goin' Louder' is my favourite Major Lazer song by a long shot too.

    +1

It essentially repeats a few lines over and over but it's still a phenomenal track.

  9. R I P

This GENUINELY her own fault though for not releasing any (proper) material for decades now. I don't care about her ethnic Spanish material. She's Portuguese for goodness sake  Then all this very MoR looking 'Lifestyle' stuff that never came to fruition.

I hope she is pleased with herself.

  10. Bizarrely my ratings are essentially the same as yours Ryan. Perhaps Judas more of a 9. 'Scheiße' is the best thing she's ever put out to date.

I don't understand the sandwiching of the "bonus" tracks around the standard edition tracks. She goes on about the album being a body of work. Adding (what are weak) tracks on alters the flow and feel of the album entirely?!

You say "raw and gritty" but juxtapose her next to anyone else in pop...

Who is even coming SLIGHTLY CLOSE to producing tracks like 'Scheiße' or 'Government Hooker' in the pop hemisphere?

You can only push a popstar so far to the left of field before they become irrelevant.
