beautifully expressive piano pop/rnb signed to polydor / same management team as dua and lana ‘why her not me’ is a STUNNER of a power ballad and WHAT a voice a contender for winner of sound of 2019 i imagine

    1) why would you be a partial fan of something / life is too short 2) what is lighthearted about a serial killer murdering 6+ ppl that cumulates in a siege that sees eileen nearly die? 3) in what way did kate “hold back”?! 4) no

i think that’s A STRETCH; her storylines have been v family-centric since her return and i think she’s fabulously acted and rather complex; mick is none of those things and he’s nothing more than a highly paid, overused and lightweight parody of a character.

killing off one half of a redundant pairing and spoiling a good character like bernie is v frustrating

  14. ^ i think spotify numbers/mass market profitability gets in the way of artists being able to cement themselves as ‘icons’ it’s now a super risk-adverse field; record labels are so conservative and concerned about diminishing returns that you get a lot of this generic elevator music...sam smith and ness flunked are central to this evolution. incredible voices wasted on non-descript dross

it’s NICE ENOUGH she’s something of a parody of herself at this point and that video is a touch saccharine for my taste but yet i weirdly like it, she has such a fabulous voice and it’s wasted on these cookie cutter tracks
  16. i’m sorry but as much as people attempt to like this record, pop history won’t look back on it kindly at all bland tut

    👏 👏 👏
  19. it’s for dua’s album and also a TERRIBLE idea
  20. also ‘breathin’ is okay but could be by anybody could be singing it, it’s quite faceless; you can’t say the same about her bigger hits prior ‘no tears left to cry’ is FAR AND AWAY the best song on this record
  21. what a pile of TUT. god knows why anybody would put pharrell as the central producer of their album; the whole thing feels very incongruous and wishy washy. i feel she works much better with max martins team and this whole record is a boring misstep a shame
  22. *.* jesus, WHAT a tune!
  23. how is ‘biology’ middle of the road? like...it might not be to your taste but it’s one of the most idiosyncratic pop songs in the past 15 years?! BIZARRE
