there are a lot of pieces in various online platforms / newspapers written by gay men defending rita and doing so really poorly (an awful piece tried to make a comparison between this entire song and a passing lyric in a little known harry styles track? ‘gaybaiting’ i think not...) i get why a lot of the opinions on this have come from gay men (this is rita’s core/most loyal fanbase) but this is a song that speaks and resonates to another section of the LGBTQ+ spectrum in a really significant way. there was a good opinion piece in the guardian from a non-hetro woman: https://www.theguardian.com/society/comment...re_iOSApp_Other
