the melody, twee sentimentalistic insincerity is textbook sheeran bre the weird WISTFUL reminiscent tone he strikes musically which is a total lie (didn’t he fake a girlfriend from galway, a dead mother etc) the song having NOTHING to do with the year 2002, and references songs before (baby one more time for eg) the year itself it may seem like a casual overhead, a misnomer but really it’s an insincere triteness; take some pride in your artistry and integrity

i am utterly AWESTRUCK by how good this is; i’m 30 listens in and it continues to grow the inflections of ariana’s voice, the intricate but perfectly executed production techniques (be it the backstreet boys-leaning intro synth or the 90s garage backing [which is only ever a subtle nod] or just those ad libs with the mild vocoder put into the background. it’s everything i adore about max martin; a detailed pop song masterfully executed. there are so nsny perfect details and then you chuck in the meyers video which is utterly gorgeous, with casual cinema nods and you realise ariana isn’t the little girl with high voice anymore; she’s come into her own as a woman. ariana casually turns to the screen, the recurring motif ponytail has grown and changed colour. then that beautiful vignette where she removes her face and looks back abjectly; PERFECTION. also the casual melancholic uptempo vibe which only the best (like abba) achieve; the manchester vibe resonates throughout but never defines or all encompasses it it’s so beautifully projected to me it’s that kind of 10/10 song you rarely get; production / context / melody perfection; you throw in an examplorary video and yeah 10/10; this will be in my all time top 50...

what a talented, ambitious, beautiful man from ‘levels’ to ‘wake me up’ to the various remixes it’s such a sign of a quality musician when 15 different posters have 25 favourite songs by that one artist; be it remixes, originals or live tracks aviici looked forward in such a positive, grandiose, fabulous fashion; those melodies, those breakdowns, those songs forever a KING.

a great episode i agree; i thought cracker had it in the bag ( minj did a similar baby character before and the judges lost their shit) can kameron hury up and go snatch is so late this season the vixen really fell short; calculated but undone i thought the runway was pretty much a gag-nonexistent affair still totally unable to call a winner
