What are you watching/recommending?
One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Classic movie! Louise Fletcher who plays 'Nurse Ratched' is my favourite ever female performance in a film. Such an underrated forgotten actress who should have gone on to bigger and better things.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I adore this show, each season is special and has something another one is missing. Season 4 is criminally underrated, so so funny. Season 5 may just be one of the best pieces of television I've ever watched, the arc from start to finish was amazing!

Top of the Pops on BBC4
Love 'System Addict' the middle 8 bit of the song is pure pop heaven! Stay out of my life is criminally underrated.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 27th July 2018
Off topic but next week will be 15 years since Blu Cantrell's 'Breathe' went to No.1. Such a surprise when that happened, I heard it months before it's release, and none of my mates had even heard of it!! I remember the week it came out and purchased it, saw the mids and was shocked when it was heading to the top. I genuinely thought it would go to No. 12 or something :P LOL and sink without a trace. It wasn't on radio that much prior to it's release as well.

Greatest Showman passes 1 million sales
Well at least we have a million seller this year! 'This is me' is okay but 'From now on' is amazing! That song gives me chills, Especially seeing the scene in the cinema.

How will Cheryl do with her comeback?
I don't care was one of my guilty pleasures, but yes it is largely forgotten, and that was a lucky No.1, I remember it dropping on iTunes after a few days, I think ed Sheehan 'thinking out loud' overtook it. I suppose she made chart history though, which still surprised me. After 'Crazy stupid love' hit No.1 she tied Rita ora/Geri there was speculation whether she could top it.

Official Chart Flashback
I actually don't remember if radio 1 played it that much prior to its release I don't think so, but I remember seeing the video a lot on kiss TV music channel back when you had to call up for your fav videos. I remember reading the midweeks and being shocked at how well it was doing. I genuinely though it would peak at number #17 or something. LOL Yeah maybe Sean Paul had a lot to do with it's success, but it was still amazing the how well it did. I certainly didn't expect it to stay at No. 1 for a month, so maybe airplay on Radio 1 did increase. Lumidee was number 2 behind it, another surprise hit.

Great Chart Questions
Wow! Thanks for clearing up the Kylie situation, she also nearly made chart history a year before with the locomotion, but was thwarted by Yazz, by 2,000 sales. WK ending 6 August 1988

Great Chart Questions
Why did single sales decrease so much after 1985? After Jennifer rush there was no million seller until Bryan Adams in 1991. It can't be just because S/A/W dominated the chart so much between 87-89, but in 1984 I think there were about six million sellers, so something must have caused the decline. Also I noticed around 1995 and after songs debuted at no.1 with high first week sales than dropped, but contrast that to the 80s where songs climbed to no.1 than increased sales the week after. Why did Madonna never have a million seller in the 80's also? Can someone also clear up the issue of why "hand on your heart" by Kylie minogue didn't make chart history, I know sales were discounted because of cassettes but surely that problem should have been sorted out by the Sunday chart. And last one, why were Jive Bunny and the mastermixers so successful in 1989? They were the biggest singles act of that year, were people tired of S/A/W chart domination or something?.

What’s the biggest week for new releases that you remember?
Not really a big release week because of tragic circumstances but the WK ending 11 Jul 2009, may have been a huge week for sales because of Michael jackson's death, so I wonder how the chart was affected that week. I wonder what new releases were absorbed by the onslaught on Classic Jacko songs.

What’s the biggest week for new releases that you remember?
WK ending 13 October 2012. 1. (N)Rihanna- Diamonds 2. (1)Psy - Gangnam style 3. (N) One direction -live while we're young 4. (N) Adele - skyfall 5. (N) Ellie Goulding - Anything can happen 4 brand new entries, Rihanna rush released diamonds, one direction were battling it out early midweeks. Then Adele rush released on Friday, really early? What time was it. I remember on Sunday, trying to find out before chart was announced where Rihanna would end up. There was a post on ATRL forum with the chart positions, and they were correct. Also going way back to WK ending 6 August 1988. 1. (10) Yazz and the plastic population- the only way is up 2 (-) Kylie minogue - the locomotion It was very very close that week and Kylie ALMOST made chart history, nearly becoming first female soloist going in at number 1. But yazz caught her in the end. Yazz sold 54,000, Kylie sold 52,000. If it was released one week earlier she would have made chart history. Something similar happened in 1989, where her cassette sales were not added, because of retail price.
