I was SHOOK when I found out that Girls Aloud’s I’ll Stand By You was only released about 10 years after The Pretenders’ version! I always assumed it was at least double that!

Yeah I think I too was thinking of One For Sorrow, and maybe even 5678 as a bit of a left field choice? To the general public this is probably one of, if not their most recognisable hit so you could maybe understand why they’d think it was a big #1… especially as it’s usually accompanied by several #1s (Cha Cha Slide, Saturday Night) at every disco / club night! Macarena being a #2 also feels like a massive #1 for the same reason!

If people love an act but the song sent in a certain round is generally considered a bit of a dud, do people actually bump them up their rankings to try and save them? I guess it works the other way round too, by bombing acts to try and get rid?! I’m not saying I do this btw, I’m just genuinely curious 😂
