after seeing them support Arcade Fire at the NME it jsut reminded me of how brilliant and unique they are You cant ignore the opinion of John Peel when he said they are one of the best bands in the UK they've been going 10 years and still nothing sounds quite like them they've been likened to Velvet underground which is about as close as you can get to pinpointed their style of music Walkign with thee is a particularly intoxicating tune and sounds great live http://www.myspace.com/clinicvoot
  12. anyone else going to see SP in february? 7 years is a loooooooooooong time
  13. Saw Rilo Kiley last sunday in Manchester For all the criticism they've received for their very different and very mainstream friendly 4th album (Under the Blacklight) they certainly delievered a great performance hitting every note with conviction it was the final date of their European tour supporting the album and they ended it with a fantastic performance. Straight away they got the crowd pumping when they opened with 'Close call' Moneymaker, dreamworld(my favourite song from their latest album) and portions for foxes were my highlight moments There was even a bit of comedy when Jenny Lewis forgot the opening lines to give a little love TWICE after a fan complimented Pierre on his resemblance to Johnny Marr, the band took it with a good humour and it just added some laughter to an already fun and enjoyable night and we were treated to a brand new track. halfway through the gig 2 giant balloons filled with gold confetti were released into the crowd and batted around the MA2 venue even Jenny Lewis engaged in the playful games until the balloons hit the ceiling and burst causing the shiny paper to stream down onto a cheering crowd. The main support Grand Ole Party were magnificent aswell, themselves also hailing from California. Setlist: Close Call It's a Hit Breakin 'Up Dreamworld Moneymaker Execution of all Things Ripchord Under The Blacklight Silver Lining I Never Give a Little Love Pictures Of Success Smoke Detector 15 Does He Love You? ___________ I Love L.A Portions For Foxes a good way to end the year for me as i have no other gigs after seeing sohodolls a handful of times along with Arcade Fire in october (supported by the brilliant clinic) and Nine Black Alps and Smashing Pumpkins wont be a bad way to start 2008 either
  14. i have digital but dont have the music package so i only get pathetic music channels like scuzz and fizz so NMEtv is very much a welcome addition it may be a while before they branch out and start playing more obscure bands I hope it develops a request show slot aswell
