good choice! i used to help run a youth club back in them days, the record player was dominated by punk, crass was often played. i liked some tracks... but tbh i cant remember which!

zippy.. i dont like neil diamonds work from 1970 onwards, its his mid 60's material i rate, solitary man, cherry cherry (which he re-wrote and it became 'a little bit me, a little bit you' for the monkees), and girl youll be a woman soon... those tracks i think are superb. i guess 'sweet caroline' fitted into the karaoke style and hence became a karaoke classic... dont like it though.

the trade was on a downward spiral... the smoking ban merely hurried a few closures up, it and it alone was not responsible because i still dont think theres any smoker whos bloody minded (or stupid) enough to stop going to a pub because of the ban , who REALLY enjoys the pub. the majority of non smokers have a right not to breathe smokey air in public places, but you call them riding roughshod over peoples choices and free will but its ok for smokers to ride roughshod over non smokers...??? inflict their smoke on us... nahh i fully agree that calling for a ban in cars is wrong (unless you use the 'must be in control of the vehicle at all times' argument.) ive already said that there might be a case for certain institutions to allow smoking.. but say your slimelight allowed it, and one of the punters got ill as a direct result of it, whod get sued?..the management thats who! im not sure james cagney smoked m8! :P yeah bacall n bogie did, but im struggling to remember an image of cagney with one.

a classic song, and imho ville valo did a damn fair cover of it.... mind you, he and HIM have covered several tracks and made a damn good job of it, remember, generally i hate classics being covered. neil diamonds 'solitary man' and blue oyster cults '(dont fear) the reaper' being prime examples of how to do a decent cover.

dont like the theme at all... theyve got it wrong. good episode last night, 'hugo' plays a menacing crim brilliantly, great casting, good storyline. pity ill miss it tonight in favour of junior apprentice!
