Wrong song getting to number one
tbh id find it hard to defend 'open your heart'... it is weak, along with dywm i might skip them too in favour of the other tracks.

British Soap Awards 2010
we didnt watch it, first time ever, in protest to the ridiculous results as voted for by morons.

Wrong song getting to number one
? you think that 'dont you want me' was the human leagues best track?

Wrong song getting to number one
i agree with euro music, imho 'dont you want me' (the only song that was #1 when i was at a gig by the band) is their poorest track from their early years. ok, it could be argued that it is a great pop song, and it is, but it was very simple, cheesy track . they did much better, in fact id suggest dywm is the worst track on 'dare'.

Emmerdale
lol.. yep, caine was a complete bstrd... great stuff! im glad jamie is leaving, easily the worst 'young' character the kiss scene was rather .... hurried? and caine seeing them was abit corny. moiras great. id be interested in a rate...

Is Retro the home of great music?
tbh it regulates itself because the further back you get, the less interest there is in any topic.

Frankie//Kids In Glass Houses - Undercover Lover
a pretty decent pop song and using frankie works.... wouldnt it be ironic IF it got to #1?

Is Retro the home of great music?
..... but here its y2k, because most since then is still current, both in artists and styles and this sites full of 'current' forums. pops around 50 years old, this forum is to cater for the first four fifths of its history, not the last fifth (or 20% if you dont do fractions! )

The Greatest Pop Videos
.... maybe, but after hearing it so often for 35 years it becomes VERY tiresome. nope i deliberately didnt watch it, ive no doubt that it was predictable and besides....theres been one on before and 'thriller' won.

Is Retro the home of great music?
i dont agree that its as simplistic as that. whilst what you say is true, pop from rock n roll to the mid 80's used past styles but evolved them into new sounds. todays music hasnt done that, it copies directly old pop styles.

Doctor Who - Series 5
that was odd, tbh i dont know what to make of it, dunno whether i liked it or not, it was different so top points for that, but was it good?... it was slightly annoying...

How much Radiohead stuff do you like?
i dont think they are over-rated, just not to everybodies taste. they are undeniably good, the critics say so! personally they dont do much for me, but ill not knock them.

Celebrity Juice
did you see the first (?) one of this seriese? where keith lemmon took off all his clothes and just stood there stark bollock naked in front of everyone? such a simple act but was hilariously embarrassing... watching fearne take a good peep at his tackle...

Emmerdale
not as such, but its in danger of becoming abit much IF it carries on. the story has climaxed now and to see him being all moody and miserable now will detract from what was possibly THE best storyline in modern soaps. loved the courtroom scene though. the eve/john/moira stuff is good but im liking the build up of friction between john and caine... i couldnt call it if they fought. the charlie/diane storyline cannot be for real.... i dont think charlie is a strong enough nor interesting enough character to become long term which is what he must be if he and diane get it together.

Celebrity Juice
by far the ONLY comedy on tv thats worth watching... yet again leigh francis has produced a great show. we tape it on thursday (wtf?) and watch it on friday, THE night for great comedy (although all the tv stations have forgotten that <_< ). why tf arnt there more progs like this and why tf isnt it on a main channel on friday night? it never fails to make me laugh out loud, its upbeat, rude, shocking, and bloody good fun!

Is Retro the home of great music?
i delete anything that i consider 'non retro', post y2k is a natural boundary, but its not fixed and sometimes if its relevant referances to post y2k is allowed. same with new material by retro artists, its ok if comparisons are made as often younger people cannot relate to earlier works. they can talk about current perspectives in other forums, but this forum is for retro. 'pre-retro'?... nah, anything goes although its hard to discuss much before punk, again theres a natural barrier that theres not many people here who know or have first hand knowlege of material older then 35 odd years. shame, id be happy for older people to discuss deeper the 60's and 50's, so no, theres no 'pre retro' date... its all retro!

Sandie Shaw - Reviewing The Situation
cilla was no more guilty of covering american music then anyone. the early 60's was dominated by acts (solo or groups, including the beatles) looking to america for inspiration. they either covered tracks or produced anglacised versions of american music, especially the blues. i think the only track cilla pre-empted was 'anyone who had a heart', which is one of our defining tracks of the 60's... i prefer it to dione warwick as i prefer the 'big production' epstein ( i presume) put on it. oh yeah, she covered 'youve lost that lovin feeling' but it was inferior to the righteous bros and chart history shows that the public agreed. when ive a moment ill post up 'its for you', which epitomises the sounds of the mid 60's. cilla should be known for that.

Sandie Shaw - Reviewing The Situation
based on their 60's material , i wouldnt. imho they all had some classic tracks and all did some utter cack. they sound dated now, and rather cheesy, but still great tracks. class cilla - 'ive been wrong before' and 'its for you' sandie - 'run', 'girl dont come' and 'tonight in tokyo' lulu - 'me the peaceful heart' , 'the boat that i row' and 'to sir with love'... bad tracks cilla - 'alfie', 'step inside love' sandie 'puppet on a string' 'monseur (sp?) dupont' lulu 'im a tiger' 'boom bang a bang'

Emmerdale
what a brilliant climax to a fascinating storyline, danny miller is effing brilliant and was clearly robbed by that plank from eastenders in the soap awards (best actor). what a totally believeable character who insists you sympathise with his situation .... fantastic acting, i predict danny miller will go on to have a big career in acting.... much i fear to emerdales loss :(
