  1. erm.... grimly, tip, whilst i fully agree about china being unfit to host the games, they are doing it, and this is the sports forum. think those posts would be better suited to 'perspectives'.

the argument about keeping politics and sport seperate is irrelevant now as the athletes/competitors are in action in china wether they should be or not. ignoring their achievements will do nothing.

well done our medalists on super saturday! the cyclists, rowers, and adlington did a brilliant job.

adlington MUST get 'sports personality of the year', who else in a gb shirt can win 2 gold medals and a world record? .....

usain bolt blew my mind.... in 30 years of watching athletics, ive NEVER seen such a convincing win in the 100m, a race that is notoriously a close finish. that bloke is a phenomina, i wouldnt be suprprised if his world record (s) stand for many years.

  2. For me personnaly, there is a difference between liking a track and knowing it's a GREAT track (lets say, 'Unfinished Sympathy') and liking a track and knowing, well, it's pretty disposable but still secretly get a kick out of it (this will probably apply to the majority of SAW's output).

I'm known for my fondness for SAW's relentless hit-factory. But I absolutely HATED Steps!

And yes, us gay's have a lot to answer for.....

    Disco... House... Techno... Garage...

    Not bad eh?

thats true that you can like a three minute disposable pop song for its easy listening value....

but are you seriously saying that gay people are responsible for disco, house, techno, garage?...

ok some styles of music do seem to have a large gay following, but to answer for?

  3. Rebecca Adlington win's second gold in the swimming :w00t:

stunning performance...a world record too, and she only went for the experience! :cheer: sports personality of the year anyone?

kelly sotherton slips to 5th... gold is out of reach now i think...

ben ainslie will get at least a silver in the sailing thingy...

  4. yep we should.

kelly sothertons only 3rd, too much bigging up her gold medal chances me thinks. she could get gold... but it aint as likely as some thought.

jo pavey got a pb in the 10,000 metres, but came 12th.

  5. I can see them being a deterrant in city limits perhaps, but on the open road, nahhhh.... Bollocks mate... I've seen people get round it, I've been in cars as a passenger when they've done it, they dont change their habits at all except when they're passing by a part of the motorway they KNOW has cameras, after that, it's back to 80/90 MPH again, the only time a friend of mine got caught out was by a passing police patrol  .... This is why I believe the ONLY effective deterrant is a visible Police presence in the form of Patrols, and an invisible police presence recording speeds using radar guns with police in locations such as lay-bys, etc, if that means training more officers then so be it, oh but of course the local authorities aint gonna do THAT are they...????

And those locations where police would lie in wait, as it were, would change every day, so the motorist would have no idea where the police would be from one day to the next... Cant exactly download that off off a website, UNLIKE the positions of fixed speed cams.... THERE is your proper deterrant - fear of being chased down by Inspector Knacker and given a court summons....

travel more.... it aint all about fixed cameras in cities, whilst what you say about slowing down then speeding up is true, iit aint the full picture. that only works IF you know where the camera is and its not in an area where mobile cameras oporate. here in derby mobile cameras are regular sights on certain roads, so IF theres a warning sign saying 'mobile speed cameras' i ALWAYS heed them. try driving down the a1 near biggleswade, not a familiar stretch of road, but has loads of fixed cameras... i slow down. anybody who ignores spped camera signes do so at their own peril. as far as im concerned... they work, cos i will watch my speed in these areas more.

  7. the tennis has been real odd.... the williams sisters, fedderer, even murray, great tennis pro's all out to... who?..

nice to see so many brits in the swimming finals.... filling last place!

  8. Underrated on buzzjack. I've listened to it again and i've decided its not as good as i thought, but it still doesn't deserve all this hate :(

i hate it because it ruins the original hit, which is one of my favs.

    otherwise its just.... there... unremarkable.

  9. Yeah, they slow down for the camera, then speed up again when they've cleared it..... I know how people work it man.... I've been in cars and seen people do it and get away with it time after time.... I've a mate who's self-employed, has a "Kleen-eazy" business, travels all over the Central/East area of Scotland, probably does more miles than YOU do, and he knows ALL the dodges, and hasn't had a single accident or near-miss in over ten years of doing his business, and yeah he DOES have a Sat-Nav system because he finds it convienient, nowt "girly" about it  .... Speed cams are a joke dude, my mate says so, his fellow reps say so, Drivers Orgs and Road Safety Orgs say so...... So, in the face of all this evidence, YOU reckon you're right....? :P

what evidence? 'my m8 says so'?... sorry but i dont accept that road safety orgs say so... hell they are the ones that have campaigned for cameras outside schools on busy roads here in derby. in sawley theres 3 in a row, yep... EVERY car slows down for them.. so it IS detering speeding!

of course people slow down where fixed cameras are situated, thats the idea

but when you on a road you are unfamiliar with, or one that has 'mobile speed cameras' signes, you DO slow down and observe the limit!!! thats exactly what I do! and many fellow detectorists as we cannot afford speeding fines. now that is CLEARLY detering us from speeding!

as for them being a stealth tax... DONT SPEED then you wont pay it! again... a deterant.

  12. But your f***ing obsessed with them! Think you secrectly fancy Frankee or something -_- Stop being a grumpy old bast*rd! There's no need to be so negative and wish for people to do bad

    oh do shut up!

i find it highly amusing, and ironic, that YOU of all people have the nerve to pick fault with my 'pointless' posts (which i dispute) as your postcount is?... how many posts a week do you make?... im sure EVERY one is a well thought out, balanced, pertainent, intelligent, thought provoking, constructive post arnt they!!!

i think frankie is very attractive, pity about her apparently empty head and by all accounts her poor personality. no secret there.

grumpiness is irreversable! it comes with age as you WILL find out one day.

  13. You've posted 2 negative comments in a couple of hours which don't mean nothing  there's no reason to post this comment at all! you said they're off the radio 1 list earlier and now this :drama:

If you don't like them which you don't. Stop f***ing talking about them! And before you say about the debate thing  your just slagging them off at every opportunity! If I don't like someone I'll state it and shut up, not go on and on for bloody weeks! -_-

2 perfectly vallied points... if you dont like it, ignore it. ill slag them off as much as i want to.

  14. Just to think that Stock/Aitken/Waterman started Kylie's career. The so-called Eurodance (I presume you mean Techno, Rave, Hardcore and Trance) from the 90s. This was when dance music was at it's best.

Unlike today when it is all samples and loops.

As for pure pop this decade. It's been all rubbish like Mc$h!te and Pestlife. With the exception of Girls Aloud, Sugarbabes and the Take That come-back it's been rubbish.

dunno... ok dance music recently has been samples/loops/cheesy covers, but there are some good original tracks... juliet 'avalon', re-flekt 'need to feel loved' and currently eric prydz 'pjanoo' proves theres some decent original dance this decade.
