most soaps go through periods of good and boring storylines, imho emmerdale is pretty consistent, and has been since i started watching it regularly back in the early 80's. its the only soap that i can watch regularly.

tbh i reckon emmerdale has rarely been as good as it is right now... so many great characters, i just hope that nathan returns (no mention of this on wiki) :(

as an evolving, intelligent , civilisation we are right to tackle the causes of crime and to try to understand why crimes are committed....especially by the young. im all for trying to 'give them a chance' to become decent citizens, it makes far more sense to rehabilitate criminals and try if possible to treat the cause of their criminality then to simply reach for the rope. with these current speculative reports about what venebles had on his pc... im not so sure... maybe he WAS 'born with an evil streak'... maybe his part in the murder of bulger was sexually driven, if the reports are true then this could be the case. im not so sure sexual tastes can be 'learned' or are as a result of their environment. thinking about my preferances... eg ive always had a fascination for girls arses, i had this long before i knew what sex was and as a child it did hold a fascination which later i discovered was sexual. i firmly believe also that you are born with your sexuality in place .... i dont believe that gays can be 'straightend' or straights be converted to gay. simple.... does it really have to be spelt out to you?... everybody is different, everybody reacts to similar situations in differing manners. the chances are that children who are born into families like that WILL in some way be disruptive to society and cause trouble. they might not all be child killers, but theyll commit violent acts, drugs, drink, theivery, sexual abusers etc. those boys were taught nothing but violence, thats what they grew up with, they see it as 'the norm' because thats all they learned. id suggest the ones who are REALLY to blame for bulgers death was their parents. im all for giving chances to people who have been wrongly brought up, if any person who has committed evil genuinely repents and wants to change, them im 100% behind them.
